Chapter 54

[Third Person's PoV]

A tall, muscular man with black hair and eyes walked in, exuding a dark pressure from his body. He wore a white tank top with black trousers, a katana hanging at his side, and casually smoked a cigarette.

He strolled to the front of the classroom, looking over everyone. Increasing his pressure, he took the cigarette from his mouth and blew smoke to the side.

"My name is Yami Sukehiro, and it appears you brats are now mine to take care of for the following year. My one and only job is to help you surpass your limits," he said with a scary smile.

[Name: Yami Sukehiro]

[Rank: S+]

[Ability: Dark Magic]

[Description: A teacher at T.A.H.A known for his bizarre quirks and personality. His favorite pastimes include gambling and spending time on the toilet.]

'What a great description this is,' Futarou sarcastically thought to himself. 'But still, what a surprise. I wouldn't have expected him to be our homeroom teacher.'

Yami pulled back his pressure and looked around at everyone before stopping and looking at Futarou. "It appears we have a monster among us," he said, putting the cigarette back in his mouth.

"Well, it doesn't matter. Everyone, come and follow along," he said, walking back towards the door.

Seeing that everyone was still seated and looking at him in confusion, he increased his aura once more, pressuring everyone. "Well? What are you waiting for? Don't keep me waiting."

Everyone then did as they were told and followed him out of the classroom. They followed Yami through a long, winding corridor until they reached two doors with a girl and boy sign.

"In there is a locker room where you will find an outfit. Grab whichever and change. They should all fit you perfectly, so don't worry," Yami explained as he leaned back against a wall.

All of his spirits got off him and waited outside while he went inside.

As Futarou entered, he saw that it appeared like a regular locker room, each locker even had names attached to them.

When he reached his, he opened it up and saw a black leather suit with grey lines. Confused, Futarou appraised it.

[Name: Adaptable Battle Suit]

[Rank: A]

[Description: Like the name suggests, it is a suit worn for battle. It is mostly used for practice. The suit is flexible and resistant to most magic and physical attacks. It adapts to the user's physique, changing shape alongside the user.]

As Futarou took off his shirt, one of the guys came next to him. "Dude, you're jacked. How did you become so manly looking?"

Futarou turned towards the guy and lifted an eyebrow, immediately recognizing who it was.

[Name: Eijiro Kirishima]

[Rank: A]

[Ability: Hardening]

[Description: A student of T.A.H.A who enrolled to become a manly man among men. Wants to be known as the world's best Tanker.]

"I exercise? Isn't that how you got your muscles?" Futarou said as he put on the suit.

"But you know what I mean—" Before Kirishima could continue, a flash of lightning appeared next to Futarou. When he looked over, it was a blond boy with a large, battle-hungry grin.

"You look strong. Let's fight. Let's find out which one of us is stronger."

[Name: Luck Voltia]

[Rank: A]

[Ability: Lightning Magic]

[Description: A battle junkie who isn't able to show much expression except for joy.]

"As much as I would like to, we can't," Futarou said, finishing putting on the suit. The grey linings turned golden in color, while Kirishima's turned red and Luck's was a bright blue.

"Bummer," Luck said, his smile contradicting his words.

"Do you have a training regimen or something?" Kirishima asked curiously as they exited. The others weren't far behind.

"100,000 spear thrusts, 100,000 spear slashes, 100,000 martial arts kata, 100,000 sword iaido, 100,000 sword slashes."

Kirishima looked at him with his mouth slightly agape. "That's crazy."

Futarou shrugged. "That's because there are no shortcuts to getting stronger."

Kirishima looked at Futarou with a bit of admiration.

When they exited, some of the girls exited as well, and everyone regrouped. Futarou's summons all leapt from the ground and sat back where they were previously.

"Looking good," Futarou said to Erza with a cheeky grin.

Erza, who didn't look the least bit ashamed, puffed her chest with pride and put a hand on her hip.

"What do you think of us, Futarou?" Ichika asked in a teasing tone.

Futarou turned and saw them all, causing him to give them a thumbs up with a smile. "Looking good, girls."

Ichika giggled while Miku hid behind her sisters, looking a bit shy.

Seeing that everyone was ready, Yami nodded and started walking ahead, which caused everyone else to follow.

They soon arrived in a large white room with ample space. As they entered, a girl with long dark blue hair and white eyes shyly lifted her hand to ask a question.

[Name: Hinata Hyuga] (image)

[Rank: S]

[Ability: Byakugan]

[Description: A shy girl from the secret Hyuga clan, known for their mysterious eyes called the Byakugan, which hold many mysteries.]

Yami gave her the signal to go ahead with her question.

"Shouldn't we be going to orientation?" she asked. Seeing everyone looking at her, she blushed and put her hand down.

Yami scoffed. "Listen, blind Missy. You're all training to become the best Hunters in this country. Orientation and all that crap should be the least of your problems. What you should be focusing on is surpassing your limits."

Yami turned towards Futarou. "You, monster boy, you're the one that scored first place, right?"

"Yeah," Futarou answered, causing those around him to look at him in surprise.

"Now I really want to fight you," Luck said, his smile widening and his eyes lighting up with battle lust.

Yami nodded. "I'm going to use you to surpass my own limits right now and set an example. I want you to hit me with your best attack."

"I can't do that," Futarou said plainly.

"And why not?"

"It'll kill you," Futarou said, shocking those around.

"Who does he think he is?"

"Isn't he a bit too arrogant?"

"I mean, he did score first, so he has every right to be."

"But still, to say he can kill the teacher, isn't that a bit much?"

Futarou heard them whispering, but he ignored them.

"On the verge of death is when one is most likely to surpass their limits, so do it," Yami said, his cigarette hanging to the side of his mouth.

Futarou let out a sigh of resignation before nodding his head. "Very well."

Futarou lifted a finger, and the mana around him surged as his lightning mark glowed. Everyone started to feel a suffocating pressure, which even caused some of them to vomit.

Hinata, who was kneeling on the ground, whispered, "Byakugan." Veins protruded around her eyes.

"So much mana... it's incredible," she whispered in awe.

In Futarou's finger, a small marble ball filled with multiple colors took shape. Futarou lowered his hand and made a gun gesture with it.

"Bang," he said as the pressure disappeared, causing everyone to stand back up and watch. The small rainbow ball floated slowly and weakly as if it would dissipate at any moment.

Most were confused, but those who weren't looked at Futarou with wary smiles. Yami was no different.

He took out his katana, holding it in front of him as his sword started to be covered by his mana. He took a deep breath and exhaled as the ball appeared in front of him.

"I'll surpass my limits! Right here and now!" he shouted as he swung his sword. "Dimensional Slash!"

As Yami's sword and Futarou's attack met, a gale force erupted that almost blew everyone off their feet. A struggle for power ensued, with lightning shooting out all around them due to the intensity between the two.

Yami was grinning widely as he kept pressing down. Sweat started to build up on his forehead while everyone else slowly turned to look at Futarou in awe before turning back to Yami.

"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!" Yami screamed as a wave of mana surged out of him. A straight line appeared in front of him as if the space was cut.

The rainbow marble was then cut in half and flew past Yami.

*BOOOOOOOOOOM!*

Everything started to shake, causing some to fall due to their lack of balance. Everyone covered their ears as the sound was too much for them.

Yami took the cigarette from his mouth, blew a puff of smoke, and rested his sword on his shoulder. "And that, kids, is how you surpass your limits... My God, monster kid, were you trying to kill me?" Yami asked.

Futarou shrugged his shoulders. "I held back, if it makes you feel any better."

"..."

'That nickname is starting to make sense now.'
