36 Chapter 36

[Third Person's PoV]

"Selen, I have brought company!" Gordak announced upon approaching the three spirits who were resting.

The white snake turned to see who was calling her and was surprised to see Gordak and his companions.

The others were surprised as well. The electric girl spirit took a look and then disappeared, reappearing in a flash. She was in Futarou's arms with a hand around his neck and another hand in the air.

"I CALL DIBS ON THIS CUTIE~" She sang merrily.

She started kicking her feet while running her finger around Futarou's chest. "So, little cutie, tell me your name."

She then felt pressure building up next to them and felt that if she didn't move, she would die, causing her to turn into a streak of lightning and reappear a few feet away.

She was surprised to see Tohru looking at her with her dragon eyes narrowing and an expressionless face.

The electric spirit then awkwardly started to laugh while rubbing the back of her head. "Sorry, I didn't know that hottie was already claimed, teehee."

Futarou then began to appraise all of them one by one.

"Ahh, Custos and Voltara, I didn't expect to see you. It's an unexpected surprise," Gordak said, addressing them by name.

"Why are you here today, Gordak?" Selen asked with a soft hissing sound.

"You see, I have finally found a contractor," Gordak said, puffing his chest with pride.

"So you came to brag?" Custos asked, though one couldn't see his eyebrows, one could tell one was raised by the tone of his question.

Gordak shook his head. "No, for you see, my contractor has a child. She needs a protector. Your name came to mind immediately, Selen, as that little girl is a healer as well. You are a healer and a guardian. You are perfect for her."

"Hsss, I see," Selen said while studying them. She then slithered towards Raiha and started to surround her little body.

"Woah…" Raiha said with a look of awe.

Selen tilted her head in confusion and smiled. "What's wrong, little one?"

"You're so beautiful," Raiha said, almost in a trance, as she reached out and started petting Selen's scaly face.

Selen started to chuckle. "And you're absolutely adorable… What's this?" Selen studied Raiha with her beady red eyes.

"You poor thing, you were born missing some of your vitality. Here, let me help you," Selen touched Raiha's face with her head, causing Selen to release a white aura, while Raiha closed her eyes, enjoying the feeling.

After she was done, Raiha opened her eyes and hugged Selen's face. "Thank you, beautiful snake lady."

Even Isanari and Futarou bowed their heads towards Selen. "Thank you for healing my sister."

"Yes, you will forever have our gratitude for making my little girl better, oh great snake spirit," Isanari said in a respectful tone.

"Hehe, just call me Selen," she said before looking at Raiha and examining her a bit further. "I have decided, I shall become your spirit. I have taken a great liking to you in such a short amount of time. I'm sure you will be a great contractor. You have the potential to become a fantastic healer."

"Really!?" Raiha said excitedly, causing her eyes to sparkle.

Selen nodded her head before pressing her forehead against Raiha's and establishing a contract.

Just then, Custos stood up and walked towards them before kneeling before Raiha. "Please allow me to become your protector. I wish to become your sword and shield."

Raiha was stunned. "But why?" She somewhat understood why Selen wanted to become her spirit, after all, they somewhat shared a similar power, the one she didn't understand was the knight in front of her.

"I am what is known as a guardian spirit. We are born from the feelings of protection and guarding. The human emotion of wanting to protect is very powerful, thus giving birth to us spirits. It's so strong that we spend most of our lives searching for that something we must protect.

The feeling of protection and guarding is especially strong towards children and the weak, which you, my young lady, fall under. So it would be my greatest honor to protect you and make sure you grow up strong and healthy until I am not needed anymore."

Raiha looked unsure about what to do, so she looked towards the only person she knew she could count on, Futarou.

Futarou just nodded his head with a smile. "Do what you believe is best," was the message Raiha received from Futarou's expression, and so she did just that.

She nodded her head towards Custos. "I would be very glad to have you protect me from now on, mister knight. Please take care of me," she said as she bowed her head.

The Knight called for her hand, to which Raiha gave to him. He positioned the hand to his forehead and also established a contract, which caused the corner of Futarou's lips to twitch.

'What kind of main character luck is this? We haven't even been here for long, and dad found a dragon, Raiha found a snake with healing abilities that was able to cure her, and now a knight that was looking for someone to protect… is my luck a permanent buff or something,' Futarou inwardly thought in amusement.

"Oh hell no!" Voltara said grumpily, causing lightning to spark around her thunderclouds. "There is just absolutely no way you all suddenly get to have contractors and leave me here all by myself," she announced while crossing her arms.

"You, dragon lady, I don't care if I have to fight you, I'm making that cutie patootie sign a contract with me as well," she said, pointing towards Tohru.

Tohru's dragon eyes glowed as her fangs grew larger alongside her claws, while embers slowly escaped her mouth. "Master, let me teach this youngling about respecting their elders."

"Bring it, granny!" Voltara shouted with a large grin as two balls of electricity charged and grew in her palms, crackling with power.

"GRANNY!? I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW I'M STILL YOUNG IN DRAGON TERMS! NOW YOU'RE ASKING FOR IT!"

Tohru took a deep breath while Voltara charged more electricity into the ball of energy.

They both then released their powers before Futarou had a chance to protest.

Voltara put her hands together, sending a beam of high concentration of electricity, while Tohru unleashed a breath attack. Without much difficulty, Tohru's flame destroyed the ground as well as Voltara's attack doing the same as they both made their way towards each other.

As they clashed, Voltara had a grin which broke within a second as Tohru's flame ripped right through her attack. She didn't have a chance to avoid it until she felt a pair of strong arms around her waist, taking her away.

"Seriously Tohru, were you really planning on killing her?" Futarou said, looking at the destruction Tohru caused. She crossed her arms and growled at the woman in Futarou's arms.

"Hmph, she deserves it, I'm not going to apologize." Futarou just patted her head to make her feel better, which somewhat worked, but that didn't mean she was going to be friendly towards the girl.

"She just doesn't want to stay by herself while watching all her friends leave. I'm not asking you to forgive her, Tohru, all I'm asking is for you to understand where she's coming from."

Tohru looked at her slightly downcast expression, causing her to let out a groan. "Fine…" She grumbled, "But she better not cross any lines with me, got it?"

Futarou just nodded with a smile. "Sorry, I don't know your name, miss?" Futarou said with a charming smile, causing Voltara's cheeks to turn blue.

'Is she blushing?' Futarou asked himself in amusement.

"Name's Voltara, a lightning storm spirit, nice to meet ya…?"

"Futarou, Futarou Uesugi."

To which Voltara nodded before pressing her index fingers together. "So does that mean I'm able to make a contract with you?"

Futarou just nodded with a smirk. "I'd be more than happy to make a contract with a beautiful spirit such as you."

Tohru grumbled hearing that and just glared at Voltara.

Meanwhile, Voltara escaped Futarou's arms and flew to the skies shouting in excitement. "YAAAHOOO!"

She turned into a streak of lightning before rushing towards Futarou and kissing him deeply, taking them all by surprise.

Everyone else immediately went to cover Raiha's eyes while Tohru immediately started pulling Voltara with anger. "I'll kill you! Release him right this instant!"

Futarou felt their contract established which caused Voltara to disengage. 'WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD AND THE GIRLS JUST GRABBING ME TO KISS ME!!' Futarou shouted in his mind, 'I FUCKING LOVE IT HERE!!' He continued.

"Contract established," Voltara said with a thumbs up, while Tohru threw her feet away. "I regret not killing you sooner," Tohru said with killing intent.

Futarou just patted her head. "Cool it, Tohru."

"But Futarou!" Tohru protested.

Futarou just smirked. "Need I remind you that you did the exact same thing?"

Tohru grew embarrassed and started to grumble once more.

"Alright, everyone, I think we got everything we need, so is everyone ready to leave?" Futarou asked them all, to which they huddled together and nodded.

Futarou, seeing them nod, caused him to nod right back and activate his ability, causing them all to disappear from the Spirit world.
