12 Chapter 12

[Third Person's PoV]

The goblin king started shouting what sounded like gibberish to Futarou before pointing his finger at him.

From the side, he saw goblins holding staffs aiming them towards him, conjuring balls of fire and shooting them towards him.

Futarou, seeing this, started spinning around with his water claws out, creating a whirlpool of water that surrounded him and blocked all the fireballs.

Before they had a chance to try again, Futarou controlled all the water he expelled, gathering it together in his palm and turning it into a Trident.

From then on, he disappeared from where he was standing and started massacring every goblin in sight. They tried to shoot fireballs at him, but Futarou simply waved his Trident, cutting the fireballs before they could do anything, and impaling the goblins with the same Trident.

After he was done, he stood back in the middle and looked at the enraged Goblin King, who was staring at him furiously and gripping his stone-made throne so hard that it started breaking.

Futarou's breathing started becoming labored, but he pointed his Trident at the goblin king, taunting him.

"You mad bro?" Futarou teased.

Although the Goblin King didn't understand his words, he knew Futarou was mocking him, causing him to reach over towards his giant sword and rip it out of the ground before running towards Futarou while yelling.

He swung his sword sideways. Instead of stepping back, Futarou leaned all the way back, stabbed his claws into the ground, and kicked the goblin with both his legs in the stomach.

Futarou wanted to create a cool scene, but all it ended up doing was causing his foot to rip right through the goblin's stomach, killing it instantly.

"Whoops, looks like I don't know my own strength," he said with a sigh before collapsing on the ground and breathing heavily.

He dispelled the Fusion, causing him to start returning to his regular self. From the liquid that was leaving him, Orion then materialized to his side.

He yawned before licking Futarou's face. ("That was fun, master. Let's do it again later on,") Orion yawned once more before turning into a blue orb and flying to his chest.

"Puck, wake me up in a few hours…" Futarou muttered before falling asleep.

"Wha–" was all Futarou managed to hear before he fell asleep.

The next day…

When Futarou woke up, he appeared outside back on the mountain where he had opened the portal. He looked around and didn't see Puck anywhere.

"Puck?" Futarou asked, looking around anxiously.

"Relax, I'm right here on your head…" Puck said, patting him.

Futarou let out a sigh of relief before apologizing. "Sorry, I'm still feeling a bit groggy from my sleep. So, what happened while I was asleep?"

"Nothing much, a portal opened after a few minutes and whisked us away before landing here," Puck explained.

Futarou nodded before he started stretching. 'It was my first time using it but that's weird, even with my high stats I grew tired way too quickly'

"Well, that was fun… Tell me, do you know why I wasn't losing mana while I was able to control and summon water while I was fused with Orion?" Futarou wondered, analyzing his fight using his Hypercognitive ability.

Puck nodded his head. "That's because you weren't using mana in the first place; you were using spirit energy."

"What is spirit energy exactly?" Futarou asked, curious.

"That's energy from your soul, from your literal spirit, which is much more potent than mana. What do you think Spirits are exactly? Since it seems you really don't know, I'll tell you. They are elements… pure elements that have developed or gained a soul. As time passes, their souls grow stronger, making them more powerful.

There are quicker ways for a spirit to grow stronger apart from waiting for a long time to pass; some spirits just don't have the patience for that. Can you guess what it is?" Puck asked with a smirk.

"Contracts…" Futarou answered quickly, arriving at the answer thanks to his ability to analyze information.

Puck smiled proudly before nodding his head. "That's right. Spirits grow stronger through Contracts, where souls get linked to our contractors. We slowly feed off our contractor's spirit at a pace where it wouldn't be harmful, and in return, we offer our service and power.

That's why I want you to be careful in the future… Don't sign contracts with too many spirits; otherwise, your soul wouldn't be able to handle it, and it would shatter."

Futarou put a hand under his chin and activated his Hypercognitive ability while nodding in understanding to what Puck was saying. "So, spirit Fusion is…"

Puck nodded, understanding where Futarou was going with the question. "That's right. Spirit Fusion is combining your soul with the soul of another."

'I see so it wasn't my body that grew tired, it was my soul… but how do I even upgrade that?'

"Is there a way to increase my spirit so I would be able to acquire more contracts with Spirits?" Futarou asked, still in deep thought.

"Normally, the answer would be no; it usually stays the same since birth."

"Normally?" Futarou inquired.

Puck nodded his head. "You're actually really weird, believe it or not. I don't know how you do it, but during your fight with the goblin, I was able to detect your spirit growing stronger, which shouldn't be possible. It grew three times during your fight."

Hearing this, Futarou looked at his system and saw a notification that said he leveled up two more times.

[Level up] ×2

'I leveled up a total of three times in the dungeon, getting three levels off an F rank isn't that bad. I'll take it. So, each time I level up, my 'Spirit' increases, which means if I want to form contracts with a lot of spirits, and make my soul stronger, all I have to do is level up,' he thought with a smirk.

Futarou then decided to check his inventory and noticed that he had 182 F rank mana stones and 1 E rank mana stone with a giant sword which the goblin wielded.

Futarou went through his notifications and saw that he got 200 exp from defeating the Goblin King, making him let out a sigh.

'Were there seriously that many goblins in that F rank dungeon? My goodness.'

he turned towards Puck and asked, "Are you ready to start a more dangerous Dungeon?"

"Oh?" Puck said, smirking, and nodding his head, having enjoyed watching Futarou wreak havoc.

Futarou smirked back and pulled his C rank Dungeon key and repeated his action of stabbing it in the air and stepping inside once the portal was stabilized.
