667 Chapter 646 ( Melusine Underwater Ruins - II )

The time had come, and the moon was at its highest point.

Cloud quickly pulled out the necklace they had received as a prize for overcoming the great volcano maze, though to his annoyance, nothing was happening.

The girls were waiting for something to happen, but it seemed that their assumptions were wrong.

"Maybe we're doing it wrong?" - Shizuku asked as she frowned.

"I know!" - Kaori exclaimed as she gained everyone's attention - "Maybe the necklace needs to absorb the moonlight?"

"And it can't do that when we're under the sea and inside this submarine," Cloud muttered as he nodded. He quickly made the submarine ascend to the surface and opened the hatch as he lifted the necklace, only to see it begin to glow - "Good job, Kaori".

Kaori smiled happily when she saw that she was being helpful, though her expression quickly changed to one of excitement when she saw how the necklace seemed to be showing changes.

"The lantern part seems hollow" - Yue said as she raised an eyebrow and investigated the locket in more detail - "I guess it's to accumulate the moonlight to the point of saturation."

"Guided by moonlight," Kaori murmured as she felt her heart pounding, "How romantic."

The girls nodded at these words as they watched the necklace continue to glow brighter and brighter.

Cloud was more focused on finding some change in the area, than on the romantic sight of the necklace glittering like a precious gem.

The girls noticed this, but quickly ignored it because they knew that the vast majority of boys wouldn't care about this sort of thing, much less in a situation like this where they were about to enter a new labyrinth, one that was likely to be far more dangerous than the great volcano.

"There's nothing different," Cloud muttered as he frowned at how no matter how much moonlight the necklace absorbed, there was no change in the area.

"Maybe the change isn't in the zone," said Tio as she looked at the necklace, which seemed to have reached the saturation point, "Maybe the change is in the necklace."

Cloud looked at the necklace, only to see a powerful light shoot out of it and sink into the sea - "I guess we got our guide."

The group re-entered the submarine, and prepared to continue their journey.

The necklace continued to point towards the seabed as the group slowly advanced until they reached what appeared to be an underwater mountain range.

"Activating lights" - Cloud said as the submarine began to illuminate the area, though not enough to interrupt the collar's guiding function.

The sub slowly approached the underwater mountain range carefully because they didn't know what would happen if they got too close.

"Look!" - Kaori exclaimed in surprise as she watched the underwater mountains appear to be shaking - "Incredible!"

"A sea quake?" - Shizuku asked as she raised her head.

"No, if so, we'd be moving erratically too" - replied Cloud as he watched the mountains slowly drift apart.

"It's like it's an automatic door" - said Kaori with surprise.

"I guess this explains why I didn't find the labyrinth when I came here earlier" - Cloud muttered with a frown - "Even with luck I wouldn't have discovered it."

"Leaving that aside, I'm more concerned about seeing if we need to breathe underwater inside the labyrinth" - said Shizuku while remarking on a detail that everyone had overlooked - "Not to mention that we don't know if we can resist the pressure produced by the depths of the sea."

"Don't worry, I'll go investigate first to make sure if the labyrinth is completely submerged" - answered Cloud seriously - "As for getting in, don't worry, I can use my [Space Magic] to get them to safety."

Shizuku and Kaori nodded calmly because if they were honest, they didn't want to stay behind because that would be counterproductive to their main goal of going on adventures with Cloud to create a stronger bond, as well as to become strong enough for him to pay attention to them

"By the way, how is it possible for a normal person to enter this place?" - Kaori asked while frowning.

"It's because this place is not for normal people" - Yue answered while giving her a look full of disdain - "Think, this place is only accessible if you first manage to overcome the big volcano, that already makes it inaccessible for normal people, but the problem continues because reaching the bottom of the sea is impossible unless you use a strong enough barrier, not to mention the great control you must have with the water and air magics to be able to maintain a breathable air along with a continuous movement of the barrier".

"Or just use [Space Magic], although let's be honest, that shouldn't be possible because you wouldn't have the exact coordinates of the labyrinth, in other words, the moment you use [Space Magic], you could end up in the middle of the rocks and die a painful death, or just stay in the middle of the sea and die from the enormous ocean pressure" - added Tio while tilting her head.

"Better leave those topics for another time, now let's go into the cave" - said Cloud as he gained everyone's attention. He quickly ordered the submarine to move forward.

The group continued their little journey through the strange rocky tunnel while ignoring the powerful underwater current that seemed to want to drag them into the deepest part of the cave.

"Shouldn't we harness the ocean current, instead of using our energy to impede the accelerated movement?" - Tio asked as she saw how Yue was using all her concentration and [Gravity Magic] to cancel the force of the current they were riding.

"We don't know how far that current will take us, or if there is another way to get to the great labyrinth," Cloud replied as he ordered the girls to watch their surroundings.

Yue was starting to sweat because the mana consumption was huge, after all, the submarine was titanic compared to its small size.

Cloud slowly approached and showed her his neck.

Yue didn't hesitate, she quickly bit Cloud's neck and started sucking his blood, only to open her eyes, surprised by the delicious taste and powerful mana she was getting. Her ruby red eyes slowly began to light up as she felt the mana inside her begin to boil like magma.

Cloud broke away from the girl because he had noticed something strange about her.

Yue reacted when she noticed Cloud had separated from her, so she quickly went back to concentrating on her work, mostly to ignore the instinctive desire to drain all the blood from her husband. She wouldn't lie, she was a little freaked out by this because she hadn't expected him to have a reaction like that.

The submarine continued to move slowly, though no matter when they searched the area, there seemed to be nothing in this place.

"Yue, stop using gravity magic, I think it's a good time to let everything flow like a river," Cloud said as he watched the vampiress nod, "Brace for impact!"

"Kya!" - the girls let out a shout of surprise as they felt something familiar.

"No, not the toilet again!" - Shea exclaimed with tears in her teary eyes - "I hate these mazes!"

Kaori and Shizuku just kept silent as their faces darkened.

Cloud quickly stood up carefully and walked to the cockpit glass to control the submarine.

"Am I still controlling the submarine?" - Yue asked as she raised an eyebrow, though if she was honest, something inside her commanded her to say this because she wanted to taste her husband's blood again.

Cloud gave her a glance before shaking his head - "That won't be necessary, I want you to keep checking around for clues.

"Ok" - Yue nodded, though inside she was a little upset that her little plan hadn't worked.

"Cloud, I think we have a bit of a problem," Shea said as she pointed to the side of the cave.

Cloud looked in that direction in surprise as he saw what appeared to be a huge red cloud - "A monster?"

"I think it's more than one" - Tio replied as she tried to observe everything in the distance with her vision magic - "It's a strange flying fish surrounded by a red miasma".

"Does this thing have weapons?" - Shizuku asked as she looked at the blond.

"Of course" - answered Cloud as he pointed towards some controls - "Since I know you guys aren't used to the complexity of military weaponry, I decided to make some controls much easier to operate."

"I don't like being treated like an idiot, but you're right" - Kaori said as she walked over to her friend and saw with surprise that the controls were basically a controller from a last generation console - "Really?"

"What? Hajime gave me a bit of his obsession with games" - Cloud replied as he shrugged - "Besides, I'm sure they understand what they have to do."

"Hmm, I'm not really sure because my free time was used to train at my parents' dojo, so I'm going to need you to tell me what I need to do, Kaori" - Shizuku said as she looked at her friend because she knew that she knew about it, mostly because she hung out with Cloud and Hajime.

"I'm going to give you the ultimate advice when it comes to games, Shizuku-chan" - said Kaori seriously - "When you don't know what to do, just push all the buttons".
