Timeline Lore of All of Dark Souls

Age of Ancients

Before The First Flame existed the Everlasting Archdragons who presided over the incomplete world tahr was shrouded in obscurity and a veil of mist. These Everlasting Archdragons do not possess a soul as they were "born" before The First Flame came into existence and they lived in gigantic Archtrees which covered the lands.

Age of Fire Begins

The First Flame gave birth to disparity.

The comments of Heat and Cold, Life and Death, Light and Dark had now come into existence throughout the world.

Humanoid beings emerged, whether they were born, created or simply slumbered before the emergence of The First Flame is unknown. But wjat is known is they were drawn to the First Flame, four in particular.

The First Flame created the Four Lord Souls and everything born after the First Flame now has a soul (Darkeater Middir was born after the First Flame so he has a Soul, if he was born before the First Flame emerged, then he wouldn't have a Soul)

Three beings found the Lord Souls within the First Flame.

Gravelord Nito, the First of the Dead found the Lord Soul of Death.

The Witch of Izalith, found the Lord Soul of Life.

And Gwyn, Lord of Sunlight, found the Lord Soul of Light within The First Flame.

But one was forgotten, abandoned and eluded the others, except for one.

The Furtive Pygmy, who found the Lord Soul of Dark more commonly known as...the Dark Soul.

At an unknown point in time before the Dragon War, The Furtive Pygmy used the Dark Soul to create the Human race and gave small fragments of the Dark Soul to all of the Human race. These fragments of the Dark Soul are known as Humanities.

The Furtive Pygmy is presumed to have died or survived as the Ruler of the Pygmy Lords.

A Pygmy Lord is someone who has an abnormally larger piece of Humanity then any other, thus they in essence have access to a portion of the Original Dark Soul's full power.

(Manus is believed to be the Furtive Pygmy, while many say he is a Pygmy Lord that left the Ringed City, I'll get back to this later. (Note I am going to have this Lore as he isn't the Furtive Pygmy, but Furtive Pygmy died when he created Humans and slit his soul).

War of the Dragons

Gwyn, Nito and the Izalith (Witch of Izalith for short) all gathered their forces they had made after an unknown length of time and waged war against the Dragons fir ownership of the world.

The war was brutal as 3 losses to slay a single dragon.

Gwyn had also partitioned for the Pygmy Lords and the Humans to join the war efforts.

The Humans createdtheir weaponry and armour with the power of The Abyss and the Humanity within them.

This frightened Gwyn because of their unfathomable and potentially Limitless power as a result of them possessing fragments of the Dark Soul.

Thus Gwyn branded a ring of fire (the Darksign) on their equipment to co rain this power.

These became the Ringed Knights and so on.

(I am also inculcating Age of Fire comic as well in the timelime).

During the war, a Silver Knight named Arkon (might have misspelt as Arkhon at some point) saw Gwyn get abducted by dozens of Dragons.

Seath the Scaless grew jealous of his siblings possessing Immortqlity via their scales, and as such he revealed the weakness of the Dragon's to Gwyn and the others.

Lighting.

With this, the tide of the war had turned in favour of Gwyn, Nito and Izalith.

Artorias decapitates an Ancient Dragon in one swing, saving Arkon's life.

Gwyn appears and mistakes Arkon for killing the Anciemt Dragon and as a result, Arkon obtained the title of "Dragonslayer".

He would bear this shame of unhonourably acquiring such a title for many years to come.

Darkeater Midir's egg is found and he is raised by the Gods of Anor Londo.

Age of the Gods begins

Seath the Scaless would be known as a traitor of the Dragon race for causing their near extinction.

Seath is rewarded with the rank of Duke and a library were he would go onto research how to become Immortal. At an unknown time, Seath creates the Primordial Crystal and finally becomes Immortal. But a great many innocents had been experimented on. In addition, Crossbreed Priscilla and Shira and Yorkshire were born at some point and share dragonic features. Only Priscilla is confirmed somewhat to be related to Gwynevere and Seath.

Arkon becomes a captain of the Silver Knights, a rank below the Four Knights and Royal family's authority.

The Nameless King at some point allies with the surviving Dragons and aids them to survive. Gwyn disown him and erases all records of his existence including destroying the Sunlight Altars.

(Sunlight Altars is where you go to join Sunlight covenant and are the statues that onex depicted the Nameless King but were destroyed due to previous point.)

Havel is locked away at some point for learning of Priscilla's creation/birth.

Gwyn also Imprisoned Priscilla inside of the Painted World of Ariamis, because she possesses the ability of Life Hunt, which can kill and destroy Souls. (A/n Basically in Lore, she could permanently kill the player who is an Undead, but in-game, not matter how many times the player/Chosen Undead is killed by her they will respawn at a Bonfire. But in Lore, that's not how it works, if she kills you once, you die permanently. Kinda life the Mortal Blade in Sekiro or like the Destined Death in Ekden Ring.)

Oolacile is discovered and taken as a vassal by Gwyn so he can learn their unique light and time magic. Fillianore learnt from them this magic.

The Ringed City was built by Gwyn as a "reward" for the Pygmy Lords and Humans for helping in the Dragon War.

This is a lie, as the Ringed City was actually a prison. Darkeater Midir us their Warden and Fillianore was tricked by his father to be the one to hold the Pygmy Lords captive on an Time Illusion for all eternity. He lied he would return for her one day. He never did by the time of Dark Souls 3 Ringed City DLC were she dies in Despair.

Time passes

Gwyn had one of his Four Knights, Lord's Blade Ciaran and her assasin subordinates - the Lord's Blades, hunt down and assassinate any of his enimies (Humanoids) that remained.

Arkon and some allies of his are pursuing after Channeler Liste because Liste is gathering females to become the test subjects of Seath so he can conduct his experiments to discover Immortality (these females becomes the blue creature squids in the archive prison.)

The Age of Fire and the Age of the Gods prospered, but eventually the cycle began to go and transition into the Age of Dark.

Gwyn, Izalith and Nito feared this Age of Dark, since Humans would reign as Gods in this age.

And so, Izalith tried to recreate and duplicate The First Flame with her own Lord Soul in an attempt to prolong the Age of Fire.

But this backfired and her Lord Soul of Life had become the Lord Soul of Chaos. Nit only that but she became the Bed of Chaos (the Grub of Izalith) and all of her subjects and most of her daughters and son became monstrous Demons.

The son is the Ceaseless Discharge boss BTW.

The seven Daughters of the Witch of Izalith tried to stop the spread of the Chaos Flame of Izalith.

But Quelana abandoned her duty for unknown reasons and left her sisters.

Quelaag would harbour great hatred for her for the next thousand years until Dark Souls 1 vents begins.

(this is never said in Lore, but can be Implied since Quelana never entered Quelaag's Domain which was like 20 metres away from where she was sitting in DS1. Quelana probably never went to her, since Quelaag might hate her. This would make sense since if they are sisters, shouldn't they forgive each other. Clearly Quelana thought otherwise. She also says how her family must hate her. Thsi is even more proof.)

Gwyn led his Silver Knights to combat the Demons of Izalith (name of kingdom is Izalith), but were unsuccessful and thus the once Silver armour had been stained black and thus they became known as Black Knights. Arkon also became a Black Knight as a result.

{Info for you by Author ------ Way of White covenant is a religion that Gwyn created to oppose the Dark Soul and Age of Dark, though he tricked Humanity to follow the Way of White religion, and succeeded as it became the most worshiped and followed religion amongst all of Humanity. Its main doctorine is to preserve Gwyn's Age of Fire.)

Gwyn knew Age of Fire was ending, so he gave and bequeathed pieces of his soul to those that he trusted to maintain his Age of Fire.

His Duke, Seath the Scaless - Traitor of Dragons, Paledrake, Creator of Sorceries.

And to the Four Kings of New Londo who were famed for their ability of foresight.

He told his people (his closest subordinates and Way of White covenant), to shepard and guide the Humans.

He went to the Kiln of the First Flame with his remaining Knights.

He used his own soul as "fuel" and to reignite the fading First Flame, bringing back the Age of Fire, and delaying the Age of Dark. (This happens approximately 1000 years before Dark Souls 1 events).

This became known as the First Sin, for Gwyn had denied the world the natural order of things and broke the cycle.

This would later cause the world to fall apart and to stagnate and decay itself, as seen in Dark Souls 3 and in the final boss fight (Slave Knight Gael) at the ending of the Ringed City DLC.

In doing so, he used the powerof the First Flame to place the Darksign upon all Humanities and the Dark Soul itself. Thus creating the Undead Curse.

The Way of White captured a majority of all Hollows (this is an higher stage of suffering the Undead Curse. I'll do more info on this separately simce it is quite alot), and placed them in Undead Asylums to await the End of the World

Time skip (approximately around 500 years before Dark Souls 1 events, but it is left to speculations of when the following below happened.)

At an unknown time period, the Gods depart and abandon Anor Londo and Lordran.

Only one God, Dark Sun Gwyndolin, Gwyn's youngest son had stayed behind. He created an Illusion of the sun and of Anor Londo in it's "glory" to pretend that Anor Londo still stands proud.

But in truth it doesn't, he even created an Illusion of his sister Gwenevere.

Ornstein stayed behind as well.

(This is complicated. If you know Dark Souls 3 Archdragon Peak and the O&S boss fight in Dark Souls 1, you will know things contradict exactly other. Kill Ornstein 2nd in his boss fight, you get the Leo Ring and His Soul. Do the opposite and you get Snough's Soul. But Ornstein is said in Lore to have left Anor Londo and finds Nameless King, I believe it is both. I'll explain more later.)

Darkstalker Kaathe (a Primordial Serpent - don't bother looking on the wiki on what they are. You'll just get confused or get useless info. I'll explain them later.), wanting the Age of Dark and the emergence of the Lord Of Dark, tricked the people of New Londo to use the secret Art of Life Drain which can allow them to take and pillage the Humanities from other Humans and becomes Darkwariths.

Arrorias creates a covenant with Kaathe (this makes the most sense as Kaathe is technically an "creature of the Abyss" because of his goals), and he is granted a ring to allow him to traverse and walk upon the Abyss, also his original Greatsword became cursed and granted the ability to deal additional harm to creatures of the Abyss/Dark.

Artorias makes the decision to flood the city of New Londo to contain the Four Kings and the Darkwraiths from rampaging across the world.

Time skip (300 or 200 years approximately before Dark Souls 1 events. This is based on speculation via dialogue and descriptions olfrom in game.)

Kaathe tricks the people of Oolacile to dig up the grave of "Primeval Man" (Manus) to take his piece of the Dark Soul.

Manus is enraged and became a twisted creature and monstrosity of the Dark and this he also became the Father of the Abyss and so, the Fall of Oolacile had happened.

Manus became obsessed in searching for his Pendent.

He discovers Princess Dusk and abducts her, having mistakened her for having stolen his Pendent.

(The Pendent could be something important to him. Maybe it was his, or maybe of his lover, we will never know. Buy I believe it is the second, it would make sense in a way.)

Arkon encounters Artorias and they have a misunderstanding. Artoroaas thinks Arkon is a Darkwarith became of his eyes and aura, and so they have a fight. Artorias on sideway wins...obviously.

Artorias recognises Arkon and spares his life and gives him advice. Artorias continues on his path to traveling to Oolacile.

Arkon fights a gigantic mutated Channeler Liste (Seath grew irritated taht Liste kept interrupting his experiments and mutated him as punishment.)

Artorias fights Manus and the Ceatures of the Abyss, but failed.

His good left arm was broken (he is left handed) and so he was forced to weild sword in his right hand and gave his greatshield to Sif to protect him.

(A/n Sif is a female name in Celtic/Norse, but some people have said Sif is a male. I think Sif is Female but I will go with Sif being a Male.)

Artorias continues to kill Creatures of the Abyss while in his Weakened State.

The Chosen Undead Time Travels back in time to this time period (the Fall of Oolacile events).

Chosen Undead puts both Artorias and Manus to rest by ending their lives and suffering and saves Princess Dusk of Oolacile. (Also kills Kalameet.)

(Hawkeye Gough: *360 NO SCOPE!!!!*)

Alvina and Elizabeth lied and spread the (false) "Legend of Artorias" - Artorias defeated Manus and saved Dusk.

Marvelous Chester steals Wolf Ring from Artorias' Corpse.

(At unknown time Chester dies and his corpse is on a ledge just near to the Crest of Artorias door to the Enchanted Woods in the present day. The player can loot the Wolf Ring from his corpse body)

(Could be 200 years ago) - Salaman becomes Quelana's pupil/apprentice and is taught by her the art of pyromancy.

"Undead Outbreak" occurs around (100 years before Dark Souls 1 events (this is very accurate but not completely))

Undead Imprisoned due to increase in Undead and Hollows as a result, even more "Undead Hunts" are carried out.

At an unknown time period, Gwyndolin and Frampt (also am Primordial Serpent) spread a false legend, a lie, called the "Chosen Undead" Prophecy.

It basically speaks about an Undead called the "Chosen Undead" escaping from one of the many Undead Asylums and is able to ring both Bells of Awakening.

• Chosen Undead Prophecy told by Oscar, Knight of Astora - "Thou who art Undead, art chosen... In thine exodus from the Undead Asylum, maketh pilgrimage to the land of Ancient Lords... When thou ringeth the Bell of Awakening, the fate of the Undead thou shalt know..."

The title of "Chosen Undead" is a reference to a prophecy concerning the end of the Age of Fire. It states that at the very end of the Age of Fire, an undead champion will appear and undertake the pilgrimage to ring the Bells of Awakening in "the Land of Ancient Lords," Lordran.

The Chosen Undead is a human, and thus like all Humans are, is an descendant of the Furtive Pygmy, one of the original Lords who claimed the a Lord Soul, the Dark Soul.

Dark Souls 1 events.

((((((I'll mention this here. When you leave Undead Asylen, and return there via the Crow, you will encounter many Black Knights. One of them is near the very cell you started the game inside off. In this cell is the Perculier Doll needed to enter the Painted World of Ariamis. This Black Knight near the Perculier Doll, is actually Arkon. He had become a Hollow and lost his sanity. He used to wear a red cloak but had discarded it.)))))))))))

[°•○●□■♤♡◇♧ I COPIED AND PASTED THE FOLLOWING BELOW, I WILL EDIT IT APPROPRIATELY NEXT TIME TO NE MORE ACCURATE AND DETAILED IN A FEW DAYS. THE FOLLOWING BELOW IS OF THE GAME'S EVENTS IF THE PLAYER/CHOSEN UNDEAD AKA, THE PROTAGONIST MAKE THIER WAY THOUGH THE GAME'S EVENTS♧◇♡♤■□●○•°]

After becoming an undead the player character was imprisoned in the Northern Undead Asylum. They are rescued by Oscar of Astora, who drops a key into the player's cell so that they may be freed. After escaping from the Asylum Demon, they encounter a fatally wounded Oscar, who tells the player about a prophecy, stating that an undead shall partake in pilgrimage to ring the Bells of Awakening.

Oscar gives the player an Estus Flask and dies in peace, trusting the Chosen Undead to take his place. After defeating the Asylum Demon, the Chosen Undead escapes the asylum and is flown to Lordran by a Giant Crow.

The Bells of Awakening

Upon arriving in Lordran, the Giant Crow drops the Chosen Undead in Firelink Shrine, which acts as a hub for the player for the rest of the story. After hearing the location of the Bells of Awakening from the Crestfallen Warrior, the Chosen Undead sets out on their journey. Various characters can be encountered throughout Lordran, such as Solaire of Astora, a charismatic warrior seeking "his own sun"; the treacherous knight Lautrec of Carim; and Siegmeyer of Catarina, an absent-minded knight who frequently finds himself in danger.

On a rooftop in the Undead Parish, the player slays the Bell Gargoyles and manages to ring one of the bells. Later on, the player makes their way deep into the infested swamps of Blighttown. There, the player defeats the Chaos Witch Quelaag and rings the other bell. After ringing both bells, the gate to Sen's Fortress is opened.

Anor Londo, Home of the Gods and Acquiring the Lordvessel

After passing the trials to ring the two bells, Kingseeker Frampt, a primordial serpent, appears to task the character with another quest before they are deemed worthy as Chosen. The player must go into the city of Anor Londo and retrieve the Lordvessel from Gwynevere, Lord Gwyn's daughter. In order to complete the quest the player needs to traverse Sen's Fortress, an old proving ground built by the gods. After passing through the fortress and its many dangerous traps, the player battles the Iron Golem, and with its defeat gains the entrance into the forsaken city.

Once in Anor Londo, the player makes their way into the Anor Londo cathedral, where they face Dragonslayer Ornstein, of the Four Knights of Gwyn, and Executioner Smough. The Chosen Undead triumphs over them and gains access into the chamber of Gwynevere, where they are greeted by the Princess and awarded the Lordvessel. When Frampt sees that the player had completed their quest, he declares the prophecy set in motion and that the character is indeed the incarnation of the Chosen Undead.

The player is given the choice to put the Lordvessel on the Firelink Altar and proceed along Frampt's designs. In this instance, Frampt prompts that the Chosen Undead is the hero destined to succeed Lord Gwyn and extend the Age of Fire, continuing the curse of the undead. The player is also given the choice to place the Lordvessel for another ancient serpent named Darkstalker Kaathe, an agent of the Darkwraiths. Following this path will bring about the eradication of the old gods, and usher in the Age of Dark.

To gain access to Gwyn, Lord of Cinder, the Chosen Undead must satiate the Lordvessel. There are several beings who possess souls powerful enough to do so: Gravelord Nito, the Witch of Izalith, Seath the Scaleless and the Four Kings of New Londo. (This can be done in any order, but three are in a certain order. Seath 1st, DLC 2nd, Four Kings and Sif 3rd. All these are connected to each other. Izalith or Nito can be done at any moment).

Gravelord Nito, First of the Dead

The Chosen Undead also travels to the Catacombs, where they defeat Pinwheel and acquire the Rite of Kindling. The Chosen Undead then descends into the Tomb of the Giants, where the scavenger, Trusty Patches tricks the player and kicks them off a cliff. The Chosen Undead survives and rescues Reah of Thorolund, a maiden who ventured into Nito's domain in search of the Rite of Kindling. Finally, the Chosen Undead advances toward the deepest part of the area: Gravelord Nito's tomb. There, they finish off the conductor of death.

The Bed of Chaos (Grub of Izalith/Witch of Izalith)

Lastly, the Chosen Undead advances into the deepest part of Lordran: Lost Izalith. If the player speaks to Quelana in Blighttown it will be discovered that her mother tried to use her power to replicate the First Flame, but failed and was engulfed within it; eventually succeeding but at the cost of their former forms. This killed some of her daughters in the process and turned others into deformed creatures, and only Quelana and a Daughter of Chaos maintained the entirety of their human forms. Within the city, the Chosen Undead comes upon the Bed of Chaos, the source of all the demons that wander Lordran, and overcomes it.

Seath the Scaless

Later on, the Chosen Undead learns from Big Hat Logan that Seath is immortal due to an ancient artifact known as the Primordial Crystal, an old relic that Seath stole from the Ancient Dragons. The Chosen Undead then departs to the Crystal Cave, where the artifact lies, and shatters it. This annuls Seath's immortality, allowing the Chosen Undead to slay him.

In The Duke's Archives the Chosen Undead confronts Seath the Scaleless, an albino dragon who betrayed the Ancient Dragons and won Lord Gwyn´s trust. During their first encounter, the Chosen Undead is unable to cause any harm to Seath and is captured. Seath imprisons the Chosen Undead inside his prison tower where the player cannot warp out from. Despite the inconveniences, the Chosen Undead eventually escapes.

The Legend of Artorias (Artorias of the Abyss DLC)

The Chosen Undead acquires the Broken Pendent from the Duke Archives and saves Dusk from the Gold Golem at the Hydra Lake near the Enchanted Woods.

Dusk thanks the Chosen Undead and time travels back to her own time period.......somehow.......(a/n Like WTF, just casual Time Travel! ABSOLUTELY NORMAL, THIS IS!!!!!)

After being dragged back in time, the Chosen Undead wakes up inside a cave beneath some trees. Outside, they are confronted by the Sanctuary Guardian. After slaying the beast, the Chosen Undead finds some sort of garden temple where they encounter a giant, talking mushroom named Elizabeth, who informs the player that the realm of Oolacile is being consumed by the darkness of the Abyss, She also tells the player that Princess Dusk has been kidnapped by a creature from the abyss and that Knight Artorias has ventured unto Oolacile to put an end to the spread. However, she assures the player that Artorias will be overwhelmed by the darkness.

The Chosen Undead then heads towards Oolacile Township in search of Artorias and Dusk. On their way to Oolacile, the player encounters Black Dragon Kalameet, an optional boss that can be fought later in the DLC. Elizabeth's words are proven to be true when, upon entering the Coliseum, the player is attacked by a corrupted Artorias. The Chosen Undead has no other option than finishing him off as he is unable to come back to his senses. After killing Artorias, the Chosen Undead can either give his soul to Lord's Blade Ciaran so that she can complete a proper burial or keep it for their own uses.

During their quest in Oolacile the Chosen Undead also meets Marvelous Chester, a somewhat sinister merchant who, like the player, was dragged into the past. He reveals to the Chosen Undead that the spread of the dark was caused when the inhabitants of Oolacile opened the grave of the primeval man due to the influence of a "toothy serpent". The Chosen Undead then treads through Oolacile Township in search of the dark source.

Finally, the Chosen Undead arrives at the Chasm of the Abyss where an illusion of Alvina guides the player to an illusory wall. Inside, the Chosen Undead discovers an injured Sif, protected by a magic barrier created by Artorias, in order to prevent Sif from being engulfed. Shortly after rescuing Sif the player faces Manus, Father of the Abyss, who is responsible for the spread of the dark. Manus is defeated, and Princess Dusk is saved. Upon returning to Oolacile Sanctuary, they are greeted by Elizabeth, who tells the Chosen Undead that she will let everyone know that Artorias was the one who defeated Manus, so that his honor may prevail. However, she assures them that their great deed will not be forgotten.

The Four Kings and the Covenant of Artorias

In order to defeat the Four Kings, the Chosen Undead needs to acquire the Covenant of Artorias, a ring that is kept by the Great Grey Wolf Sif (Sif will recognise and remember the player if they do the DLC before encountering him, Sif will cry in Sadness taht he must still stop you and you obtain an alternate sad cutscene to his Boss encounter). The ring allows one to traverse the dark void called the Abyss. Upon arriving in the ruins of New Londo, the Chosen Undead, with the help of Ingward, drains the flooded city, earning passage to the Darkwraiths and their masters. If the player has not yet placed the Lordvessel before defeating the Four Kings, Darkstalker Kaathe will appear in the abyss.

The Final Boss - Gwyn, Lord of Cinder (formerly the Lord of Sunlight)

After offering the necessary Lord Souls, the doors to the Kiln of the First Flame are opened to the Chosen Undead. Gwyn, now reduced to a Lord of Cinder, breathes his last breath in the final confrontation with the Chosen Undead. It is here that the Chosen Undead may make their decision of either linking the flame or walking away from it. Depending on which course of action is taken, one of the two possible endings will be unlocked. Whether the player has aligned themselves with Kaathe or Frampt will not affect the ending of the game.

I'll do Dark Souls 3 at a later date. As for Dark Souls 2.....I'll explain more next time.
