Chapter 2: Breaking Out

Artreus' body materialised within a cell of the Undead Asylum.

Artreus props himself up from the floor he was lying on and opened his eyes groggily. He looks around him and then above him and realises a slight problem.

Artreus: "Well...shit"

That were his first words when he ended up in the world. He had forgotten to ask the Being if he could be spawned in the Chosen Undead's cell. The Chosen Undead's cell is special since it had that massive hole in the roof which allows Oscar to drop the corpse with the key to the Chosen Undead allowing him/her to use the key to escape.

His cell however doesn't have that. That means he can't even climb out if he even could.

He decided to not waste his time and immediately asked the System some questions after he had finished stretching and examining his body.

Artreus: "System"

[Yes host?]

Artreus: "Cam you show me what you can do?"

[Certainly]

Artreus: "Why am I level 1? Why is my class different from the starting classes? And why don't I have the infinite value as the stat base but in brackets?"

[Host never asked the Being for a starting class so Host is now Level 1. The host can select any Class including creating your own Custom Class. The Class gives no Benefits other than helping to focus your fighting style after it. The host can change the Class at any time. Also due to the host being Immortal, the infinite values are in brackets because the statistics for Vitality and Endurance also provide additional upgrades such as increasing the Carry Weight limit, Resistances to attacks, Resistances to effects and so on.]

Artreus didn't think much of it as he had gotten a good answer and he doesn't need to come up with any pointless thoughts. He does however think about his possible Class.

Artreus: "System, your name will be Luna, call me by my name and talk more normally. Scan my mind right now for the Class I want. "Lord of Souls". Also, can I travel to other worlds currently?"

Artreus had decided to call it Luna because he didn't want a male voice in his head as that would be weird but instead wanted a nice gentle sounding companion to keep him company during his now obtained Immortal life. The previously genderless voice had now changed into that of a female. After an instant of Artreus asking his question 'Luna' now responded.

Luna: "Yes Artreus. Your Class has now been set to "Lord of Souls" and yes, you can leave the world right now but I suggest that you should wait until you reach Firelink Shrine.

(A/n I changed System/Luna text dialogue to this. It is much easier. When there are Quests and stuff it will be the normal [] but other than that all dialogue will be like this from now on.)

Artreus: OK then. I assume that I need either enough Stimulus or pay X10 the price of whatever strong being I want, to get it?"

Luna: "That is correct."

Artreus: "Alright then, turn my pain receptors off."

Luna: "Done"

After all that had been taken care of, he tried squeezing his body through the bars, completely uncaring of the fact that his bones and body were being crushed, his broken ribs and bones Piercing his organs and insides.

???: "You won't get out of these Cells like that. These bars are made of Titanite to keep us Undead in here. Don't you think others would have tried what you were doing? They'll just throw you back inside again, assuming anyone to guard this place hasn't turned Hollow yet."

He looks around the outside of his cell to see where the voice had come from. It was then he noticed that the Chosen Undead is still in the cell.

Artreus: "Yeah well...I will try it over and over because unlike everyone here, I won't go Hollow even if I die."

The Chosen Undead seemed not to believe him about his claims of Immortality without going Hollow from repeated deaths. She slumped back against the back of her cell and simply waited for absolutely nothing...

He, on the other hand, tore off the pinky fingers of both his hands. He then noticed he wasn't regenerating, nor did his punctured organs and broken ribs heal by now.

Atreus: "Why hasn't my Regeneration worked by now?"

Luna: "You have to experience death and regenerating your body over and over again like the Original Fushi, from a few days until it decreases to seconds down to the point that you can heal instantly regenerate."

He lets out a sigh of relief that he is Immortal and he didn't get scammed on his wishes. He is irritated but admits that Immortality is better than nothing, especially since Dark Soul's Immortality is at the price of your memories and Humanity, causing you to go, Hollow.

After 2 days of using the bones of his fingers to pick the lock to his cell, it finally opens.

In his past life, he had watched a video in his spare time on the inner workings and tumblers of locks. Fortunately that this lock was a simple pin tumbler lock like the ones that the player can do in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

He leaves the cell. By this point, his fingers and broken body had healed themselves only an hour before opening the cell door.

The Chosen Undead was sleeping currently. Artreus had decided to remove a potential problem and had silently broken his bone finger picks, which he still had, and lodged them into the keyhole of the lock. He made sure that it was jammed in there every day possible. He wasn't going to let the Chosen Undead take his Lord Souls and choose to Link The Fire as Gwyn did.

He wouldn't risk it. He will return to free her one day. Besides he can always just use Luna to give him something to undo the Hollowing and return the memories of a Hollowed person.

Artreus had now locked her in this cell for certain as not even using the Key will be able to open it. When he will return he will drop a robe down from the roof Oscar used to drop the key corpse.

Artreus had made his way down the hallway, up the ladder and into the courtyard. He activated the bonfire by holding his hand over it. He felt a warmth within him travel into the bonfire and it in turn to him.

He continued onwards to the large doors, upon opening them he ran to the small door on the left side, once through it closed behind him.

Once at the alley with the Hollow Archer, the first of the main equipment is. He walked forward uncaring of the arrows that pelted his body and his plain white tunic and trousers.

He allowed the arrows to hit him so that he can get Stimulus to recreate the arrows from his body and with his Perfect Replication power (has the latter, not the former yet).

He picks up the sword and notices it is the Wish Weapon he had asked for from the Being. He had completely forgotten about it since he was so immersed in being in the Dark Souls universe.

Artreus realises that he will have to find his Wish Armour later just like how he found his sword.

Artreus, who was now called with arrows from in his lungs, legs, arms, chest, waist, back and front, receives an arrow to the head that finally causes him to fall to the ground and black out as he died.
