1 I AM DINMA, A QUEEN, I WON'T CRY

Hi my name is ▪Chidinma but please call me ▪Dinma.

I was born into a very wealthy Hebrew home. It was just my dad Mr Doro Kosisochukwu, my mom Mrs Nmasichi Kosisochukwu, my elder brother Owen Kosisochukwu Doro and my beautiful self Chidinma Kosisochukwu Doro🙂

One cold evening my mother packed hers and my bags. I was only nine years old. I remembered everything. I begged mother not to leave that if Owen gets home he won't be happy if she's not here. my mom looked at me. She wanted to cry. I saw the tears in her eyes. she was heart broken. she told me to be strong. she made me promise not to hate her. she said she'll come back for me eventually but mostly she'll keep in touch. I wanted to cry too but she said I should be strong. I was gonna ask her so many questions but first why is she leaving? then I couldn't. So mother left and all I could do was stay calm and wait for father. That day was cold. so cold and then I had no idea why.

That same day in the morning, Father told me he's taking my brother to the hospital. he has been sick for almost year. He has Cancer. Six months ago he had recovered after surgery somewhere in his chest. I was happy because all the times it got to him my father won't let me go close to him so finally I can play with him... He was my bestfriend. Owen slept on my bed and didnt want to let go all night. Like he knew he'll be leaving me soon and forever. I remember how he said "babysis will be alright?" and I told him "yes, for you I will be. I'll be alright for the two of us" he smiled but his lips had a color. it had a color it was blue. I asked him what's wrong with him he said cancer. I didn't know what it was but I asked him if its bad he said yes. He told me to repeat after him; "I AM DINMA, A QUEEN AND I WONT CRY" I thought about it awhile and said it faintly. he told me to get up and beat my chest while I say it. I got up reluctantly and did it majestically anyway. Then he told me he was tired. and he wanted to rest. I told him to sleep he said not that type of rest. well now I understand. He had gone through Chemotherapy the final stage last week. One time I heard mom tell dad argue that her son won't go through Chemotherapy. My dad insisted.

Owen slept in my room. He held me in his arms. The next day he was gone. He and dad drove to the hospital after he dropped me off at school. I blew a kiss at my brother and he caught and blew his to me, I caught it too. Waved at him and father and ran into the school compound. That day was cold. oddly cold.
