23 Chapter 21

Daniel

The headache I got this morning is nothing like what I have experienced before.

That's saying something if you are an immortal demon that certainly, very rarely got any kind of sickness coupled with incredible body system and crazy regeneration.

I groan in discomfort, holding my head as I sit up groggily.

My mind is as empty as a blank of paper. I can't remember anything from the night prior.

I open my eyes to see my sworn brothers for hundred years minus Valentino. I swear that man has a personal alarm that only he can hear in his head. He never woke up pass 5 o'clock in the morning. That's hella early! The fact that he never even late a second is something even crazier! I could never do that. I had rather jump off a cliff than wake up that early. My beauty sleep is precious. I can't abandon it.

As a leader, of course I find him admirable. He could right up any kind of problems in any kind of situations like it was a piece of cake. But sometimes he is so cold and distant, acting like he had stick stuck up in his ass.

I know I'm not the only one thinking like that.

I groan again in pain, the headache seem hell bent on making me suffer. I got up and went to the kitchen to search the cupboard for medicine and found only one pill left. Since we are supernatural being, with inhuman strength and healing, we never really need human medicine. But Kairo insist on stocking some around the house for emergencies.

Now I thank him in my head as I gulp down the plain water, rinsing the bitter taste of medicine. I doubt it could do anything though. Maybe just a little relief, but that will do.

I saw Ezra entered the kitchen with messy hair, clearly just woken up from his slumber and stumbled to the fridge, proceeded to open it just to freeze.

"What's wrong, dude?" I asked as I take a sip of my drink.

He looks at me with suspicious eyes, "Where's my juice?"

"Huh?" I look at him before putting the glass in the sink. "Dunno. Ask Zach, he drank it maybe." Before walking out of the kitchen.

Third Person's POV

"No one remember what happened yesterday?" Valentino asked. His piercing eyes stares into each one of his brothers around the couches one by one.

His question is answered with the shaking of his brothers' heads.

It was impossible. What could have happened yesterday that every single one of them couldn't remember even a thing at all?

"Maybe we were drunk last night." Daniel suggested.

"You know that is impossible, Niel." Ezra interjected. "With an immortal body like us and higher alcohol tolerance than human, you know that is not possible."

He said. "Plus, all single one of us drunk? Never happened before."

Daniel shakes his head. "It's not impossible."

"But it's highly unlikely." Ezra stated.

That shuts him up into thinking. What Ezra said makes perfect sense. And they know they were not even near anything alcoholic that night.

"Arghh!" Raphael grunts as he runs his hands across his pitch black hair, ruffling and sending it into perfect disarray. "This is so frustrating!"

Luciano grunts while Zachary and Isaac nodded in agreement.

"Can't you reverse the time from last night and see it through your magic or whatever that you do, Kai?"

Kairo sent Daniel a deadpan look. "I'm a Warlock, not a Time Keeper."

Daniel pouts.

"Listen here, gentlemen." Valentino spoke up with full authority. "I want you to always keep an eye out for any movements from our enemies. Since no one hurt despite the lost memory of last night, we will act like nothing happened but always keep up your guard." For a moment, his taut face soften to a degree, but back to his serious face in a blink, "I have a feeling something rather big and important has happened last night."

__________

The morning breeze made Kairo who is standing at the balcony takes a deep breath of the fresh air, before exhaling with a sigh. Something Valentino said earlier about something big has happened has succeeded in occupying his thoughts.

He somehow has this strong nagging feeling that he is missing something. Kairo frowned in thought, but then was cut short when someone came behind her.

He looks across his shoulder, clashing eyes with green ones as the person join him leaning against the balcony rail.

Zachary looks at him with concern but gentle eyes,"Are you okay, Kai?"

Kairo turns his head to look into the forest. "Yeah. Just worried a little. And confused."

"Yeah." Zachary nods. "Can I ask something, though?"

Kairo looks at him, puzzled before he nodded his green light.

Zachary's eyes took a faraway look. "How do you feel about her? When you first heard her voice inside your head?"

"The first time?" Kairo's eyes glazed over as memory of first listening to her melody-like voice entered his mind. She was mumbling something incoherent at first, but after listening for a moment, he realize she was mumbling math formula. He chuckles a little. "When I heard her voice that time, I felt like I hear the rest of my life." He focuses back on his brother. "Still am."

A smile threatening to break through Zachary's face. "I never knew you are actually such a romantic."

Kairo smiles. "What about you? How's the first time you got her bruises?"

Zachary tsked. "The first time... I thought it was mine at first. Maybe I just hit a table or something and I didn't realise it." He laughs. "But then one day," He grins, "That day when I found a bump on my head when all I've been doing is laying down in bed, I was certain. I was sure they belong to her." He shakes his head with a smile. "She's so clumsy. Sometimes I think it kind of funny how she could get a couple of bruises in a day just from knocking into a door and tripping." His smile slowly falters. "But then, most of it weren't from her clumsiness."

He trails off. Kairo knows without the Elf telling him that Zachary's soulmate was intentionally harmed. One time, it was so bad that Zachary fainted.

His mind fly to the memories of his soulmate. His was in a bad condition either. Her murmurs of help and sorry's, he could never forget it for the rest of his life.

He is so useless. He couldn't do anything to help her in her times of need, couldn't even pass his own voice into her head so she could hear him, knowing he is always by her side.

The two men lost in their each own thoughts, the thought of their soulmate tear their hearts apart. They just wish they could find her as soon as possible, to be able to hold her in their arms and never let go.

__________

A series of footsteps came running in the living, before the culprit plopped down the couch, exhausted.

Raphael wipes his sweat with the towel around his neck.

"Raph, back from your run?" Isaac asked, walking into the room before settling himself on a beanbag at the corner with phone in hand.

"Hmm." Raphael nodded before suddenly turned his mischievous eyes to the Siren. "Hey Isaac! What did the ocean say to the other ocean?"

Isaac looks up from his gadget, ponders for a moment before grins. "Sea you later?"

Raphael shakes his head, his wet black locks floating in the air in sync with his movement. "Nothing! They just waved."

"..."

"Did you sea what I did there?"

"Shore." Isaac suddenly said. "Sea what I did there?"

Raphael rolls his eyes like he saw high school girls on TV did it. "Stop being a beach and stealing my jokes."

Isaac smirks. "Water you saying?"

Raphael playfully growls before he lunges at him and engages in a playful banter.

__________

"Alaric baby."

A beautiful voluptuous blonde woman suddenly appear behind him, wrapping her arms around him.

Alaric instantly grins widely, turned around and sweeps the woman off her feet in a passionate kiss.

"Ava." They engage in a kiss for quite a time before he releases her. Alaric caress his soulmate's cheek lovingly, "Where did you go?" He whispers, "I miss you." before resting his head on her shoulder.

She smiles. "I was in the east, baby. Someone owed me something, and I just have to take it back." For a moment, her eyes flared red, before fading back to its calm blue shade.

Alaric looks up at her for a moment, before wrapping his arms around her dainty waist again. He whines,"Cuddle."

Ava run her fingers through his purple locks. "Of course, baby."

__________

Kairo is so focus on practicing his new mantra that he didn't notice the strange atmosphere around him.

As he chanted, palm facing his test subject, a rabbit in a cage, his magic suddenly went out of control in a matter of seconds, before killing the rabbit with one clean move.

The magic blaring crazy with an ear-splitting sound, swirling in the air, hazel light getting brighter and brighter before it turned red and vanished into the air, no trace of what have occurred earlier.

Kairo went wide-eyed as he turned to the rest of his brothers who ran into the room after hearing the ruckus.

"We are ambushed."
