As Stefan disappeared into the bathroom, Ruby let out a deep breath she didn't realize she had been holding. She sank down onto the couch, her mind racing with a million thoughts.

How was she going to approach this conversation without making things more awkward between them?

She tried to focus on her breathing, to calm the nervous flutter in her stomach, but it was no use. Her thoughts kept circling back to that moment on Saturday night, the feel of Stefan's lips on hers, and the rush of emotions that had followed.

She heard the sound of running water from the bathroom, signaling that Stefan was freshening up. It gave her a few precious moments to gather her thoughts.

Inside the bathroom, Stefan left the shower to run so that she would think he was showering while he took the time to steel himself for the conversation that was about to come and figure out what to say to her.
