1 Chapter 1: flying snow village

Flying snow village was a pretty prosperous village at the extreme north of the heaven dou empire, populated by a thousand people. The winters were bitter cold while the summers were barely warm. In this village, over ninety percent of the population awakened an ice-related spirit, which in consequence brought a constant flow of spirit masters for the spirit hall. Their greatest pride was a soul douluo who was also the village elder.

In such a village in the midst of summer, the spirit awakening ceremony of six years old children was unfolding in the village hall. The village elder, an eighty years old man, who was also a high-rank member of the spirit hall called out names one after another. As previously stated, a lot of them awakened ice attributed spirits and actually had spirit power. Though, all of them had between 1 and 5 innate spirit power. Then, the elder called out the name of one of the two most hopeful youths in the village.

" Leng beibei! Come forward! " As his name was called, a rather thin looking and cute youth with silver hair and eyes advanced towards the elder. Seeing the youth stop nervously in front of him, the elder smiled reassuringly and began to operate his spirit power to awaken the kid's spirit. The spirit that Bei Bei awakened lengthened his claws, grew white fur all over his body and increased his size and stature. " By the pope! It's the ice polar dread claw bear! Genius! A genius appeared in our village! Come quickly! Let's test your spirit essence level! Put your hand on this crystal ball! "

Hearing this, Bei Bei did as he was told, this time with a bit more confidence as even the elder thought highly of him. " Rank 8! A genius finally appeared from this village again! Haha! " The elder said exclaimed with a boisterous laugh and tears came out of his eyes. " With you, I can die happy! " Wiping his face drenched with tears, he asked " Kid, do you want to join the spirit hall? "

With an extremely happy face, Bei Bei answered " Of course! it's an honor for me to join!". For the people of the flying snow village, spirit hall was the epitome of strength, righteousness and wealth. Few people actually get the choice to whether or not join it and the few that do just accept happily.

Laughing again as the kid became the future of the village, the elder, named Luo Xin patted his back and allowed him to cheer with his brother. Calming down, he looked at the other hopeful genius of the village.

" Leng Feng! Come forward! " His name called, a black-haired, gold eyed cute youth advanced. Just as nervous as beibei, the youth stopped in front of the smiling elder and concentrated on his spirit while the elder helped to awaken it. The spirit made his body shine a white glow, releasing warmth. His pupils disappeared and his hair became white. As it awakened, the spirit shined strongly and his whole body became hidden inside the ball of fiery white light.

The blinding light made all spectators close their eyes, except the elder who was just astonished. ' Holy! I have never seen nor heard of this! Is this maybe a never seen before spirit? Could our village make history by being the first to present a new kind of spirit? ' While the elder was thinking, the white glow emanating from Feng receded, leaving his hair white and his pupilless glowing white eyes. It has to be noted that his skin also seemed purer and fairer.

With hope clearly evident in his eyes, the elder urged Feng to test his spirit essence level. The crystal ball then glowed, similarly to Feng's spirit. With his eyeballs out of their sockets and his jaws creating a hole in the floor, the elder muttered " Spirit… Spirit essence harmonization… Heavens! Our village produced an unprecedented genius… " Falling to his knees, Luo Xin once again began crying tears of joy.

This spectacle though greatly surprised everyone else present. They didn't know anything about spirit essence harmonization or whatnot. All they knew was that after the ball in Feng's hands glowed, the always calm, dignified and warm elder began to cry joyfully. They never saw him in this state, no matter what the circumstance was.

After once again forcing himself to calm down, elder Luo grabbed both of Feng's arms and asked " Kid, do you wish to join the spirit hall? " Happy about the enthusiasm the elder was showing, Leng Feng repeatedly nodded his head as he said " Yes! Yes, I want! " Releasing his arms, the elder showed a gratified smile and took both Feng's and Bei Bei's hand as he led them outside. Stopping in front of the door, he turned back and dismissed everyone else as he left with them.

Once outside, the elder said " You two quickly go back home and pack your luggage. We will leave for the spirit hall headquarters tomorrow. " Nodding excitedly, Feng and Bei Bei ran to their home while chatting " Big bro, our dream finally became true! We joined the spirit hall! "

Smiling in excitement, Feng replied " Yeah, we will become great spirit masters of the spirit hall just like mom! Moreover, we will be able to see mom more often once there! The last time she came back, she promised that if we successfully joined, she would be our personal teacher, which means that we won't get separated ever again! "

That's right, the two geniuses of the flying snow village were twin brothers, and most importantly the sons of a teacher from spirit hall. Quickly arriving at their house, where their nanny waited for them, they stormed to their room after barely greeting her and began to pack their things. It was mostly toys and clothes for Bei Bei and books and clothes for Feng.

Seeing them in this state, the nanny just shook her head and went to prepare their dinner. She was a beautiful lady in her forties. She had green hair and eyes and emanated a severe aura.

Saying that they were eager to go to spirit hall was an understatement. They didn't see their mother for the past six months and they never knew their father. It was said that he died before they were born.

As the calmest of the two, Feng quickly put his excitement aside and began to activate his spirit. He didn't know what it was but he always felt warm and more... powerful whenever he activated it. Even though his pupils disappeared when he did, he could still see perfectly.

Seeing his brother 'playing' with his spirit, Bei Bei also activated his. Suddenly thinking of a brilliant idea, Bei Bei looked at his brother and said excitedly " Let's have a fight! Before I was never able to beat you but now it's different! I feel so powerful... Anyway, let's fight! "

Sighing annoyedly, Feng replied " You know that I don't like fighting. " But added just after with a teasing smile. " Why don't you go and fight the wall instead? You always lose all the same but at least you dominate it the whole time. "

Angered, Bei Bei pounced on Feng " Shaddap! It's only because you never want to make rematches! Hmph, admit it, now that I awakened such an awesome spirit you are just too afraid to fight. Hmph, this daddy here will teach you a lesson! "

Laughing a little, Feng gently pushed beibei aside, but this gentle push was enough to make the poor kid stagger a few meters and hit the wall. As if alerted by the noise, the nanny came running into the room to see what happened. Seeing the two kids with their spirits activated, she heavily reprimanded them. " You dare to fight in the house again? With your spirits at that?!... No meal for you tonight! "

After the long reprimand, the nanny left and the two kids who had their heads lowered the whole time went to their beds. The nanny's reprimands never failed to tire the both of them out, or more like, knock them out.

On his bed, Bei Bei looked at Feng weirdly and asked " What was that absurd strength? I don't remember you being this strong, at least not to the point of pushing me back with a light push. "

A little perplexed himself, Feng shrugged it off as his spirit being just fierce and him having more spirit power.

Not really minding the how and why, Bei Bei nodded and closed his eyes, like always, he fell asleep very quickly. Feng, who wasn't as tired took out a book and began reading it like he always does. It was a book written by the grandmaster Yu Xiaogang about the different spirit beasts populating the world
