Chapter 3

[Unknown Elder]

Ah, this day has come once again. I can't help but wonder what surprises await me this time. But first, I must introduce myself to these children. Who knows? Perhaps one of them will achieve great things in the future. It's important to make a good impression on everyone, including children.

"Hello, children. My name is Guo Qiang, and I will be your guide today. Now, each of you will undergo a spirit awakening one by one. Remember, no matter what happens, do not be afraid."

"Please form a line, and come forward one by one after I finish the first awakening," I said to the dozens of children in front of me. Once they were ready, I called the nearest child to come forward.

The child was a boy, and he looked incredibly nervous. I couldn't blame him, though. His future would be determined by the nature of his awakened spirit and the amount of innate spirit power he possesses.

Over the years, I've witnessed many children rejoice over awakening a powerful martial soul and possessing a substantial amount of innate spirit power. In contrast, others have been heartbroken by discovering they have a weak spirit or no innate spirit power at all.

As a spirit douluo of rank 83 and also one of the four archbishop, my position typically involves responsibilities far beyond awakening martial souls in children. That task is usually reserved for soul elders and soul ancestors. However, I enjoy participating in these awakenings because they are like opening a box filled with unknown surprises, and I love surprises.

I began the awakening process by instructing the child, "Close your eyes, clear your mind, and focus on yourself."

As the child followed my instructions, I summoned my martial soul, a golden staff, and directed my spirit power towards the six black balls surrounding the child in a hexagonal pattern on the awakening platform. The balls began to emit a golden light, which enveloped the child and seeped into him.

After a few moments, a light emerged from the child, taking the shape of a dagger. The child gazed in awe at the weapon that had materialized from within him.

A dagger, not a bad outcome. If he possesses soul power, he could become a spirit master. I then produced a blue orb.

"Come forward, child. Touch this orb and recall the sensation you experienced when you released your martial soul. Pour that energy into the orb so we can determine your innate soul level."

The child snapped out of his amazement and followed my instructions. After a moment, the orb lit up.

"Hmm, your soul power rank is 5. Congratulations, you can become a spirit master."

The child beamed at my words and ran back to his parents. I proceeded to awaken the other children, but the results were somewhat disappointing.

For every five children, only one possessed innate soul power. It seemed the first child's outcome had been a stroke of good luck.

I continued the awakening ritual, smiling at the results of the child before me. A martial soul known as the Blue Wind Falcon had manifesteda strong martial soul that guaranteed significant spiritual power.

I asked the girl to transfer her spirit power into the blue orb, and the result didn't disappoint me.

"Hoho, you possess an innate soul power of 7. You have a great chance of becoming a Spirit Douluo, and perhaps even achieving the title of Title Douluo, little girl," I said with a smile on my face as I addressed the young girl before me.

She beamed brightly before running towards a group of children being supervised by a middle-aged woman, who, if my memory serves me right, is the matron of the orphanage here in Spirit City.

With the girl's awakening, my anticipation for the other children only grew; however, it seemed that I had used up all my luck on her. Most of the remaining children either possessed very low soul power or none at all, and not a single one of them had impressive spirits, just common everyday tools.

After awakening the martial souls of nearly all the children, only one remained. My expectations had dwindled since the little girl with a soul power of 7, and I simply wanted to complete this task. That is, until I laid my eyes on the final child, a boy.

He appeared slightly older than the other children, but I could tell that it was due to the muscles hidden beneath his clothing. Moreover, his eyes were strikingly beautiful; I don't think I've ever seen any quite like them. He exuded a certain level of maturity, which set him apart from the other children in the room.

I couldn't help but grin and feel a renewed sense of anticipation. "Don't let me down, kid."

[Cai Wen POV]

Ah, it seems it's finally my time to shine. You might be wondering why I am the last one. Is it just a coincidence?

No, it is not. This was all part of my plan, I thought as I playfully pushed an imaginary pair of glasses up my nose.

I already knew that I would possess innate full spirit power due to my cultivation technique and top-tier martial spirit. So, if I were to become the center of attention in this place, I might as well make my entrance more dramatic and stylish.

Cause like the saying says, the last one is either a disappointment, a forgettable one, or the biggest surprise.

Now time to put on a great show. I just hope that my martial soul will be strong.
