Chapter 34: Yu Yue's Spirit Ring, Self Reflection and Refinery Tests

"It's strange that my little toys haven't told me about someone like him. So much potential….for a human. But I'm not one to judge so easily. But now that I know, I'll have my pets keep an eye on him from now on. It's strange though, that aura on him."

"Indeed. It's like a brand. One of Theirs. Interesting as that specific one rarely does anything but this could be our chance as well" The figures continue to exchange words,

Xue Tie who is unaware of their conversation makes the trek back to the hidden Slaughter Bunker made by his clan. After a few hours, he returns and throws the still-unconscious kangaroo onto the floor. Xue tie then tells her. "Kill it. Maybe your ability works on the living too and should only expend energy to replace its head with your ability. That's one way to kill"

It's a theory of his that he wants to test as it serves as a new method to test out with such a willing target. Yu Yue gets up from her seat on the couch. She had a soft blanket on her which she throws off with newfound energy as her body begins to adjust to the better situation she is in. She takes out the white skull and tries to do what Xue Tie asks. She Attempts to seep the skull into the kangaroo's head. A light shines and the skull faces resistance as it attempts to seep in. The kangaroo wakes up and begins screaming in pain but Xue Tie places his foot down so it can't escape and only flails around until it dies from losing it's skull. A yellow ring floats up and with a nod from Xue Tie, Yu Yue begins absorbing the ring.

According to what Xue Tie knows, the beast should be a bit above what she can handle as such, Xue Tie uses his previous thought and through his trident first skill, he refines a drop of his blood to hold a higher vitality count than normal which he stores into a bottle and repeats until the bottle is full. He splashes a bit on any injuries that appear on Yu Yue while also feeding a bit to her.

As he suspected, the injuries rapidly heal due to the difference in strength between them. He also notices that she seems to have gained a boost in strength as she finishes absorbing soon after. The ring flashes once as it revolves around her. Yue opens her eyes and looks at herself. The splashes of blood don't exactly do well to bring out her charm but strangely enough, she begins licking them. Xue Tie can only give an estranged look as he sits down.

"Go get cleaned up and then you can tell me about your ring ability."

"Yes master." she quickly replies and heads off

'And stop calling me master' he thinks to himself as he knows his words will fall on deaf ears.

An hour later she returns, much more nicely dressed as Xue Tie had been successful in converting his spare clothing for her. Who knew a junior high sewing class from his old life would be so useful?

Yue sits down and looks at Xue Tie. "So, what is your first spirit ring my young student?"

"It's called Shadow storage teacher. It allows me to store a certain number of undead, reducing my energy expenditure from having to maintain more than 1 undead at a time. The stronger they are, the more of my 'slots' they take. My current limit is 4 slots and only beasts less than 1 thousand years old can be put in. I can get more slots every 5 spirit level.

"So you only started with 1 by default and since your past level 10 now, you gained 2?" Xue Tie asks to which Yue nods.

"Hmmm, it's not a bad ability in the beginning but you will need to get a 2nd similar ability later on as that is too weak in the long run. If we assume that you have the possibility of reaching level 90, that only opens up a total of 20 slots. And if beasts more than 1 thousand as well as more than 10 thousand take up more than 1 slot. Then that can only be about 10 beasts in your control, and that's the nice assumption. It could be a lot worse though." He states his feelings on the matter. Yue is a bit upset at the low evaluation but resolutely says.

"I'll get stronger." She storms off to the bedroom to begin cultivating. Xue Tie has a wry smile on his face but takes a deep breath as he thinks to himself.

'Alright, it's time to finally process my gains without interruption.' he goes to the cultivation room and locks himself in.

Xue Tie sends his mental power into his own body, examining the domain seed and he lets out a sigh.

'It's in the late stages of creation but it's just a bit off from fully developing. I could technically condense it but it would only be as good as the standard death gods domain. Such trash is not acceptable to someone like me. Not when I can do better.' He angrily thinks and retracts his own mind and checks up on his cultivation after absorbing his new ring and he is quite shocked but begins breaking it all down.

'I've reached level 56?! There is no way that the single Black spirit ring can do that much for me even if there was a major affinity with the beast it came from. I can believe it might give me two levels but not three. Which means the only other possibility is when I went crazy in Slaughter City. I do feel the connection to the new ability but I thought that only healed me.'

'But what if the vitality and blood I'm stealing is also refining my body, making it stronger or at least more talented? I'm practically stealing others' cultivation!! But then I would have surely felt a big boost when I used Nihil on the scorpion today, which I didn't, I was only healed.

So while the healing aspect is saved, it requires my tridents direct influence, be it spirit rings or physical contact to work. Just like when I was rampaging and slapping all the citizens around'

Xue concludes this as the only reasonable possibility for his unexplained growth. The other being that the domain seed itself supplied his growth.

With no conclusive idea of how it happened, he can only test out his hypothesis when he next fights.

Xue Tie shakes his head and moves onto the next order of business. Refinement. The first ability of his trident that gave no conclusive method on how to use it. He has already tested out one method and that was the healing property where Xue Tie is now saving up potions of drops of his blood. Mostly in another experiment to see if the healing effect is reduced over time or not.

Not wanting to test it on himself immediately, he takes out the 23k year old beast arm bone he got from Spirit Hall and his trident. Another thing of note is that his trident has increased in size and weight like his gloves which turned into robes. The trident is now 8ft long as compared to the 5 ft it was before. Xue Tie can only assume that the spirit ring has activated its delayed growth. As it was big when he was a child but no longer.

It has surpassed his height again and could possibly keep growing longer.

Xue Tie turns his attention back to the bone and positions his trident next to it. He designates the target for his first spirit skill, Refinement. The bone begins glowing and the glow extends to Xue Tie. Who promptly begins yelling in pain as foreign memories are supplied to him.

He perceives himself as a pterodactyl-like creature, he lives his entire life as the bird creature. Sleeping and fighting against other spirit beasts. Killing various humans until it was hunted down by some elder of the spirit hall who wanted a wind type spirit ring but they already had both arm bones filled in and as such, could not absorb it. So he contributed it to spirit Hall and many years later, it became Xue Ties'.

Xue Tie experiences the entire passage of time along with the deeper emotions of the beast. When he breaks out of it. He feels that the bone has increased in age by 2.5k years. Setting its age to 25.5k years old from it's original 23k years old.

Xue Tie falls over on his back as he processes his newly made headache. It takes him half an hour to recover and he is shocked at the discovery that he can strengthen spirit bones. Though experiencing the memories is not a happy occasion. Perhaps he can strengthen his head and protect himself against this mental influence.

He will have to find some other test subjects to see if he can also increase one's spirit rings
