Chapter 24: Application, Training, and Educating A Fool

Chapter 24: Application, Training, and Educating A Fool

With the business with his parents done with. He returns to Spirit Hall and gathers the application forms for his team. They quickly fill it out. Mostly minor details such as name, birthday, home, Martial spirit, and Spirit power as well as the reason for joining. They mostly write down that they were invited.

One final thing was needed. A stamp from Xue Tie, which means he needs to visit someone who is still in the libraries. From what he was told by the guards, he only came out during the group matches.

'Hoo, it seems he has started to use his mind more already' Xue Tie thinks to himself.

Xue Tie approaches a black-haired figure in a black suit who is surrounded by piles of books. Yu Xiaogang is deep in study and doesn't notice Xue Tie.

"Ahem" he calls out which knocks Yu Xiaogang out of his stupor. He sees Xue Tie and asks

"Did you not say I should stay away from you both, so Why have you approached me?

"I need my token for a moment and then you can return to your studies" he says with a dismissive tone.

Yu Xiaogang can only clench his teeth at his tone and gives back the token. Yet, while Xue Tie is casually stamping the documents, Yu Xiaogang can't help but ask.

"How did you know your team could work like that? Shi Xin with his poison and fire, Qi Ming, with you being elevated into the air? And Xia Wei, who could drain and imbue the ability of others into yourself?"

Xue Tie eyes him for a bit before smiling.

"It's just a simple deduction, my dear Yu. Regarding Shi Xin, Don't you find it odd that a martial spirit or even the beast it's based off has both fire and poison properties but they aren't compatible? It's foolish, I can only assume that there was some sort of inmate fear of mixing them together. Like a childhood trauma or self injury. When he was kicked out on the first day, I had immediately approached him and provided him with a guide on how to train his control. By the time the group competition started, he proved his worth in not being afraid of his own techniques and you saw the rest."

"With Qi Ming, it is simply a matter of 'force'. One has to understand that, his spirit skill, the Shockwave Scream. While sounding like 2 parts making a whole, the Shockwave and scream. It is in fact, one action. The scream makes the Shockwave. Just like when I wave my hand, you can feel the movement of the air against you. Our bodies interact with the world. So when I was propelled higher by Qi Ming, I was either propelled by the force of his scream or the other view is that I was propelled by the air he blasted away from himself. Luckily when I asked him to join, I asked him to control how much his shockwave actually hurts. Now he has 3 states of his first spirit ring: a weak, a standard and a powerful but draining state of his ability. With these capabilities, and the focus I had on me due to my performance. I was able to create a scenario that shocked many."

"Now, the final one, Xia Wei. Many people judged her because it never seemed like her martial spirit actually did anything. But there are no useless martial spirits, only useless Spirit masters. She had a unique ability and I could tell once I heard the name. Siphon, what comes to your mind when you hear siphon? To me, it's the ability to drain something. What that something is, is likely related to spirit masters. Vitality, Defenses, power, speed, spirit energy, mental energy. This is where my focus went but she had no control at all. She was barely able to take even 1% of an attribute from someone with her spirit skill. Once I enlightened her though. It's as if she was reborn. With a clear sight in line. Her ability was naturally strengthened to it's current state of 10% to an attribute."

Xue Tie finalizes his discussion and is busy cleaning off his token of the stamp ink before tossing it back to Yu Xiaogang who catches it again. His mind revolving around the ingenuity of Xue Tie's analysis but also the statement 'there are no useless martial spirits, only useless spirit masters' is knocking around his head like a windows screen saver, and it will never leave. But before Xue Tie leaves, Yu Xiaogang yells out.

"But what about Du Lie? Why was he chosen as well?"

"Hahaha, you tell me how many people with a water buffalo martial spirit are there and ill point to the thousands of ape, wolf, bear and other plentiful beast spirits. Something Unique won't be weak"

Xue Tie yells back and leaves as he stores the documents away and exits the library.

Xue Tie delivers the forms to a registration desk and it only takes a day for them to process it with his stamp. They were all naturally accepted and Xue Tie was made their team captain, just as Shi Yu was to him. He gathers his team in a courtyard made available to him. Coincidentally, it's the same one he first met Bibi Dong.

"Alright, we have arrived. To start off, we will begin with physical training and then transition to martial arts and other techniques. Du Lie, you are already plenty strong but you mostly rely on brute force, if you can focus that into martial arts then you add finesse to yourself by aiding your concentration of strength. It's the difference between a normal punch and a punch that could blow up someone from the inside." he begins by talking to the group and then focuses on Du Lie.

"Shu Xin and Qi Ming, you both are quite fragile. One is a bat and the other is a snake. You are both agility based and so I want both of you to focus on evasion while your training. Make it a habit to not get hit at all. Ill create an intensive evasion training for you both later as you still need to build up muscle." Xue Tie then turns to the 2 agility masters of his team and explains their role in training. He then turns to Xia Wei.

"I believe constitution training would be best for you. If your body can overall toughen up, you can then outright suppress the nausea you feel (A/N: God I wish I could do that too. I'd be more motivated to work out and wouldnt throw up from my meds). It might also assist in increasing the upper limit of what you can actually siphon. You were able to afterall grow from 1% to 10% from just knowledge of it, maybe it's now based on the load your body can handle" (don't be weird)

"I expect that in your free time, you cultivate, your strength should increase

Xia Wei nods in affirmation and the training begins. Xue Tie is having them run around the courtyard and doing various light exercises to get a handle on what their upper limits are before he starts intensifying it.

All 5 shudder at Xue Tie's malevolent smile as he watches their progress but they can only keep going so as to fulfill the trust he has in them amongst many others to be chosen.
