Soul Land 3: Dagger God Douluo

The day before his spirit awakening, Xie Xie has a dream. A dream of another world called Earth, a dream of another life. On that same day, a power awakens within him. The Anime Compendium of Martial Arts. The MC will be very strong for his age, but not overpowered. He will still have to struggle, train, and preserve through hardships to gain his power. He will not have any knowledge of any of the Soul Land books. Also, he will retain his core personality, as his 'dream' of another life is more akin to watching a movie than experiencing a whole other life, so he will still mostly act his age. Finally, he will have a very close relationship with Tang Wulin. As the story develops, they will become closer, and their dynamic would be more like the one between Killua and Gon than a Goku and Vegeta one. No Yaoi. Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Soul Land novels, nor do I own the cover. Basically, I don't own anything in this fanfic. Just like how I don't own my house anymore because my ex-wife Karen took it when she took the kids. P.S: This is my first time novel/fanfic, just trying to improve. Put constructive criticism in the comments or reviews, please cut me some slack.

After my fight with Gu Yue, Teacher Wu allowed her, Wulin, and I to leave class, as we had already finished our physical training. Well, Gu Yue hadn't, but she was exempted due to being exhausted from her fight with me.

As we walked to the cafeteria, Wulin began to talk to the new girl. "Your martial soul is Elementalist, huh? And on top of that, you were even able to fight a good battle with Xie Xie. You sure are strong."

She grinned in response. "I'm really not that great. I was constantly suppressed in the entire battle. On top of that, none of my elements are even that strong. It was just that I controlled them well. All martial souls are the same. As long as you have enough soul power and you can comprehend as well as control your martial soul well, then it will bring you surprises."

While normally, I would dismiss any other statement like this spoken by a one-ringed Spirit Master, this one made me consider it a bit more. While I knew how to use my spirit, whether I completely had comprehended it was a different question. As I thought about my spirit over and over, I felt like I was on the verge of realizing something.

"I'm gonna go to the dorm early. I feel like I'm on the edge of a breakthrough," I informed Wulin and Gu Yue, before rushing back to the dorm. As soon as I got to my bed, I sat down and began to meditate.

Comprehension. What exactly are my Spirits? Are they just a simple light and shadow dagger, or are they something more. Speaking of which, why are both of my Spirits so similar? Most people with Twin Spirits would have completely different Spirits for each.

For example, Huo Yuhao, founder of the Spirit Pagoda who had both [Spirit Eyes] and the [Ice Scorpion Emperor], or the founder of the Tang Sect, Tang San, who had [Blue-Silver Emperor] and [Clear-Sky Hammer]. Even Xiao Xiao, the only other person I know about that is able to use both of their spirits at the same time, has a [Three Lives Soul Sealing Cauldron] and [Nine Phoenix Dancing Flute], both two completely different Spirits.

Even if both of my Spirits being similar is a simple coincidence, there are more inconsistencies in my Spirits. For example, I'm the only person I know so far whose Spirit Soul applies to both of their Spirits, giving both of them the same Spirit Abilities. Even people able to use the very rare Self-Spirit Fusion don't have linked Spirits like mine.

As I pondered this, I continuously inspected my Spirits using a combination of Spirit Power, [Observation Haki], and my eyes. Turning it around over and over again, I felt that there was something that I was missing. Using the [Zone], I felt myself put in a state of extreme focus.

As I continually inspected my daggers, I felt something unusual. Something that gave off the same feel as the portals Gu Yue created in the battle. The Space Element! Why would that be present in my daggers? And it was in both of them, creating more evidence that my daggers were linked in some way.

I studied their hilts, finding engravings of a dragon on both of them. That basically confirms that they were linked somehow. But in which way? Are they part of a bloodline? But neither side of my family seemed to be linked to any specific bloodline in any way. Could it be that a dormant bloodline residing in one of my parents was once again brought to the forefront when I was born?

And speaking of the daggers, could it be that they were supposed to be one original entity in the beginning. They're both linked, whether it be in Spirit Abilities or appearance. In fact, are their attributes really light and shadow? Could it in fact represent something else?

Maybe light and shadow are used to represent two different things? Opposites? No. Light and shadow coexist with each other. Without light, there is no shadow. And the space attributes I previously found on my dagger. What is something space coexists with? Time.

Then does that mean that my dagger's original abilities are sp-? As soon as I began to think about it, a head-splitting migraine interrupted my train of thought. A cry of pain almost made its way out of my mouth, but I suppressed it, not wanting anyone to come in and interrupt me.

Pushing past the pain, I slowly regained my train of thought. Based on my previous observations, does that mean that my dagger's original abilities are space-time? Finally getting the thought across, my migraine doubled in intensity. As I hovered between the line of unconsciousness, I heard a deep, booming, voice, accompanied by a sudden vision of jade-colored scales.

"You are not ready yet, child. Once your spiritual power is as expansive as an abyss, you may be able to comprehend your Spirit, allowing it to revert into its true form. If you manage to go beyond that, you may be able to recognize the true essence of your Spirit and unearth its true potential."

That was the last thing I heard before blacking out.

[A/N: Just to clarify what is happening in this scene. Spoiler alert, by the way. Basically, who he sees is the Jade Dragon King, who in the original, never appeared directly, but was hinted to be the source of Xie Xie's spirit. When he's talking, he basically says that if Xie Xie reaches Spirit Abyss, he'll be able to re-awaken his Spirit, causing him to get the Space-Time Dagger he gets at Rank 70 in canon, earlier. And since I feel that the author barely fleshed out Xie Xie's Spirit, he's gonna be able to evolve his spirit one level higher once he reaches Spirit Domain. As for what his Spirit will be, I won't say for now.]

VERY short and rushed chapter this time, only like 1k words cause I got some stuff going on.
