Nine months had already passed since he started training his devil fruit powers.

Well, training the soul wasn't as easy as Gem expected it to be. While in the anime Brook was able to awaken all those abilities in just 2 years.

Gem found himself unable to do the same. He realized something, unlike Brook who had lived for almost 50 yrs after acquiring the ability of the devil fruit, which significantly increased his soul power. Making it easier to use.

But he had recently got his power and was quite not good as Brook.

Although, Gem didn't get much result from the training. It wasn't as if there were no results, as he was now able to spread ice through his soul energy.

He could freeze something by touching it with his soul. Or he could exclude a cold aura like radiation. He could also coat his weapons in the same cold aura.

Though this ability seemed great, it wasn't much, as it was very time-consuming and weak currently. It didn't have much use except for, perhaps freezing the deceased corpse.

Another problem was that he became tired when using his soul energy, so unlike training physically he had to take a lot of breaks in between his training. He had to rest to recover soul energy.

He also came to realize that he could fall unconscious while training the soul. While he was training the soul his energy hit rock bottom, disregarding that he continued training and fell unconscious.

While he was unconscious his energy recovery rate was also greater. He checked this out while he was training. So now, he often sleeps, which is like falling unconscious as there are no eyelids to close his eyes because he is a skeleton.

He checked the bones he had gathered in the empty room. There were different types of bones kept in a row, there were now 12 bones. Looking at this he guessed that about a year had passed since he transmigrated into Brooks's body.

He wasn't feeling particularly lonely or anything because he had been staying by himself for quite a while before his transmigration.

Mastering the mysterious power of devil fruit had been interesting enough to keep him busy. Though seeing the same scene was a bit bothersome he didn't pay much heed to it. So, he once again continued training with his devil fruit once again.

In a large old brown ship, filled with battle scars, and a broken haul a being could be seen standing in front of the ship, just above where the figurehead of the ship was supposed to be.

The being took a large breath and opened his mouth. From his mouth, a chilling cold wind spread. The wind spread and froze the upper layer of the ocean. About 50 meters of the ocean's surface was frozen with blue ice. That being was a skeleton who was wearing only rags to cover his lower body.

For the last nine years, Gem had continued training his devil fruit powers. By now he had mastered almost all the abilities Brook had, and a few more that he had created on his own.

Though he learned all the abilities of Brook, he couldn't learn his singing power and the abilities related to it, as he wasn't much of a singer. Another factor for this might be passion and dreams because in the one piece world, by having a dream and working on it, they gain physical as well as mental change relative to their dream.

As various characters have often shown changes such as this. While Coby looking like a kid went to become a unit of a man by training with Garp to fulfill his dream. On another hand, Gecko Moria went from looking like a wild beast to a swollen balloon after having his dream and ambition crushed by the defeat with Kaido.

While these are the major changes there are also minor changes such as losing haki and strength.

So, he learned that the power he got was more attuned regarding his dream and character.
