1 A System Awakes

Inanis felt strange as he rose from his bed. He felt as if something was not as it should be, like an unnatural force was present yet had no intention of harming Inanis. Unable to identify the source of the anomaly, Inanis dressed himself before proceeding to his workshop. Within said workplace were a variety of tools and stations, namely a forge, alchemy array, and enchanting inscriptionary arranged in a triangle with an altar like pyramid in the center.. One could tell that each was beyond state of the art on their own, not mentioning the tyrannical amount of magic energy emanating from them.

Briskly striding up to the top of said ziggurat, Inanis spread his hands with practiced ease as two pedestals rose from the altar to meet them. As flesh and stone came into contact with one another, golden energy arced throughout the workshop, tools and materials beginning to move and operate seemingly on their own. Of course, this was in reality all the doing of Inanis, who despite his calm exterior, was frantic on the inside.

[When I finally succeed, I will have surpassed my previous limits! I will have proven to those foolish gods that there is no such thing as perfection, only qualitative stagnation! Then those lazy bastards might actually start trying to improve further.] he thought to himself, doing everything he could to strain his mind and bring out every last scrap of effort that might assist in his improvement.

Hammers pounded and magics swirled, all the while each and every improvement was going through alchemic tempering to bring out its full potential. As energy flared and sparked throughout the room, the three stations products seemed to liquify, slowly gathering above the newly risen third pedestal. Each process, though incredibly short, felt like thousands and thousands of years to Inanis, who had to operate all crafts at his apex simultaneously. Slowly but surely, a seemingly endless supply of magic, reagents, and minerals slowly ground to a halt. As for the result, a silver hued crystalline liquid hovered in a beautiful orb on the third pillar, seeming so resplendent that it was as if even the mightiest gods and devils were beneath its notice.

Despite being thoroughly exhausted by the arduous process of creating said orb, Inanis slowly reached out, gently caressing the orb. But several moments after he touched it, Inanis, and the very reality he lived in, were violently torn apart. After what seemed like several minutes, but was in fact a countless number of eons, there was only the crystal sphere. And once the sphere was alone, it spoke into the noiseless void.
