46 The Wall Destroyer

Mei entered the training room at the back line among other trainees. She felt nervous about being alone without Shun or Yami beside her.

'I got this!' Mei thought and placed herself at the back to prevent any sort of attention. 'I must control my mana."

"Okay, we are here at the Mage and Support training room," Sun Ting announced casually and gestured towards the vast sand plain in front of them. "We got the whole 5th floor for ourselves. This is the largest room inside the Defender base."

The series of astonishment echoed inside the room, and the trainee's eyes bulged with amazement.

"We will be conducting our group and personal training here from now on," Sun Ting added. "As we all know, Mage class consists of long-range attack, ability-based area of effect damage, and crowd control that may utilize to strike from a distance."

"Mages typically focus on killing prime targets in combat. They can also use their innate crowd control and utility to manipulate opponents, protect their team, and in the right circumstances, can damage and control multiple enemies at the same time. These can differ in what kind of skills you have chosen. Regardless, mages are fundamentally frail and succumb fast to direct attacks."

"Next is the Support class. Does anyone of you here take that role?" Sun Ting asked, and several hands raised up. "Well then, Supports aid and help protect your allies in any situation. Your role is to shield or heal, to tank some damage, or to sacrifice yourself to keep others alive. A heroic class, but can be a burden to your squad."

Mei gulped upon listening to Sun Ting's firm voice. She noticed that everyone was tensed and anxious about their training, mainly since Sun Ting carried an intimidating aura.

"Now, I want everyone to line up!" Sun Ting shouted, and everyone scrambled to form a line with their chin held high.

Sun Ting stared at them one by one while analyzing their capabilities when her eyes landed on Mei. Her eyebrows raised in amusement at Mei's tiny frame.

"Yuan Mei," Sun Ting read her name on the nameplate. "What class did you take?"

"M-mage class!" Mei stated. She tried to say her words firmly, but she failed terribly.

All trainees' eyes landed on her, especially since she was wearing a different color attire from the rest.

"She's a trainee from the Tsuki branch?"

"Is she that powerful?"

Mei bit her lips while trying to ignore the murmurs directed toward her. She didn't want their words to get into her head.

"Silence!" Sun Ting yelled and cleared her throat twice. "We'll start the group training."

Sun Ting gave each of them a wand to practice stimulating their mana and created a dummy as the target. She called each of them to hit the target, and points will be added after their performance.

Mei watched everyone shooting the target while others missed. Her hands were sweating with nervousness even though she was trying to calm down.

'I should control my mana,' Mei thought and clenched her fist.

"Yuan Mei, prepare yourself. You're next!" Sun Ting shouted and gestured toward the third spot.

Mei took several deep breaths and watched the girl shoot ice balls at the target that landed right in the middle.

'She's good,' Mei thought and clapped once the girl was finished. She immediately took the spot after the girl left.

Mei stared at her wand and imagined how much mana she'd be using. 'Don't destroy the dummy target!' she kept repeating that thought before positioning herself on the platform to blast her Mystic bullets.

'Wait, what skill did I set to use again?'

Mei thought as she had forgotten entirely to reset and choose the skills she would use on the base vessel, but before she could recall, it was too late. Her mana accumulated and unleashed a beam of Mystic magic, her chosen 3rd and the most powerful of her set skills.

"NO!" Mei screamed in horror as she looked at the bright light coming from her wand, making her mana supply unstable and creating a more enormous beam as a result.

Everyone's mouth hung open from shock when they saw Mei's immense mana power.

The Mystic beam shot directly at the dummy target and annihilated it in the process, but the beam didn't stop there. It went through the open space and destroyed the wall, creating a huge hole.

Everyone screamed when the impact shook the whole building and that caused an emergency evacuation for all people on the floor. The alarm's loud ringing made Mei freeze at her spot while looking at the giant hole she had created.

"What the--" Sun Ting muttered in disbelief and hurriedly contacted the base agent about what had happened in the training room since the Defender base security system treated the accident as a Raider attack.

It took about one minute before the alarm went off, and the Combatants around were trying to console the nervous wreck trainees that were shivering out of fear.

"I'm so sorry," Mei turned and faced Sun Ting with teary eyes. She feared she would bring trouble to the Tsuki branch and be punished by the base for destroying the building wall.

Sun Ting was speechless and glanced back at the giant hole. She smiled and went toward Mei, patting her head to calm her down. "It's gonna be fine, don't worry."

"Will they kick me out?" Mei whispered and wiped her tears away. "I want to become a Combatant."

"Don't overthink. The base won't kick you out," Sun Ting smiled and rubbed Mei's head. "You should meet with your friends or go to the cafeteria and eat some snacks."

"O-okay," Mei nodded and left the training room in a hurry.

Sun Ting stared at Mei's retreating form. Her smile dropped and was replaced with a serious look. "That girl's mana is different. This will be an exciting year to fight against the new upcoming squad."
