A Bar Fight

Every ghoul in the RECON section is a ghoul that is the primary target for counterintelligence.

They are the ones that have been poking around undercover as humans.

Ghouls are very intelligent so it is likely that they are relaying information to their command.

Ghouls in general are technically human species that came from a different world.

They may speak different languages than the humans we have here, but in the end they are humans that have totally abnormal endurance and speed.

He was there right in front of me.

"Watch out." I told everyone.

A glare that I would remember forever.

Red eyes that stared right back at me.

The sudden silence and the sudden cloud of fear tugged on my nerves.

Fear; the sounds, the senses, and the brain all become clouded with it.

If all assassins had this aura around them, they would be unstoppable.

For all I know Kaiya is no joke, but not as threatening as this ghoul.

Death.

Fear is not the last thing you see.

The last thing you see is regret.

"Pretty face… watch out for the other two ghouls and also keep the two idiots out of this unless I need assistance." I told Kaiya.

The whole room was almost perfectly silent.

"Alright ass jockey, just make sure this is not the last thing you do."

Looks like Kaiya and Luki are the only people to not be terrified by this thing.

My hands were trembling.

I could imagine the wound in my left hand.

A small scar in the middle of my left hand was the arrow.

"Bad timing." I looked up.

"PHHhhhhhhh…" Exhaling helped my mental state a little.

The ghoul scanned the entire room with those crimson eyes.

The color of blood and hell.

I inhale slowly and I slowly start looking down.

"RECON-5.238k is not going to cause any more problems from now on." I say

Everyone's eyes looked at me saying, "Let's beat him to a pulp!"

But no one made a move yet.

I slowly watched as the ghoul stared right at me and advanced.

"Ned, evacuate when I get you all an opening." I quietly call out.

"Gotcha, ass jockey." Ned replied.

"Screw you man!"

My feet instinctively picked myself up and got me off my butt.

Here I go.

RECON-5.238k was definitely here to hunt down the commander.

His eyes were pinned onto Luki.

Of course both Luki and Kaiya were not wearing their officer's uniforms in order to prevent detection.

This one may have been sent on a mission specifically to knock out these few commanders.

Why did I stand up to be the cannon fodder?...

No time for this.

I start gripping my sword.

I take a slow step towards RECON.

RECON takes a step towards me.

This time he looks at me.

The red eyes, blood red eyes.

He was much taller and probably much stronger than me.

I need to think up a strategy on the spot.

Many of the greatest minds out there probably can do this much better than I can.

From what I can tell he has 10 seconds till he reaches me if he walks at an average human pace.

From his current pace I can get 15 seconds from this point onward give or take.

My first strike has to be precise and to the head.

That is my best bet.

Even if the strike wasn't fatal, it could damage some of his senses.

I Inhaled.

The swing will be straight down on his head.

My second strike will probably be to the torso where many important organs are.

I will loop to my right with the sword and slash across the gut area.

If possible I will try and lure it out of the tavern to reduce the risk of getting others stuck in the action.

Probably reducing collateral damage will be a good move too.

I unsheathed the sword.

As I did, the ghoul's eyes narrowed as if it was focusing on its target.

"Yeah get some of me!" I encouraged, "I am your only enemy right now."

"'Ass', an idiot or a donkey." Luki grabbed my shoulder.

He smirked and said, "You need backup too, man.

As long as we fight next to each other, we are human, no better or worse."

"Right, commander."

"Ahem, comrade."

My sword was ready, parallel to the floor.

I slowly exhaled.

RECON lifted up his hand.

"A knife wielder.

This guy is definitely a knife wielder." Luki mumbled.

"You have seen this befor—"

Whoosh THUMP!

I slid a little to my left.

A bright steel knife with some kind of liquid coated over it slammed into the back wall.

Apparently he can throw knives.

That is probably going to get us killed.

"Luki!"

"Have at him!" He shouted, drawing a sword.

A one handed long sword that was modified to fit both hands.

"Hit him with a fast light combo…"

The ghoul got into a lowered stance.

He leaped forward with a knife.

Swoooosh!

A wide sweeping knife attack?

A bad play.

Luki went in to attack.

Something was not correct.

"It's a trick!"

He has a third knife.

A thrust that was aimed right at his chest.

He steps to his left.

"Damn!

What the…"

He blocks with his sword.

"That was close."

RECON-5.238k said something that I could not hear and dashed forward trying to knock out Luki.

We slowly led it further and further away from the door.

There was a mess of people trying to exit the door.

I lunged and sliced.

Tingggg!

He parried my sword with one knife.

My sword slid past his left side.

My entire balance was off.

The o-katana stabbed right into a wooden table.

I inverted my grip and used the o-katana to be able to brace from hitting the table.

"Arghh!"

I jammed my foot into the ground.

My foot shifted in my hunting boots.

There was no time to pull out the sword.

I lifted the left side of my cloak and used my right hand to grip the push daggers.

The engravings started to glow with a white light.

I gripped the left push dagger and it also started to glow white light.

"C'mon Ivan, hit him from the back!" Luki shouted, "Go kick his ass, rookie!"

Luki attacked with a combo and the ghoul blocked all of his attacks.

"Yeah, Ivan!" Ned shouted.

Ned took his time to get in position behind the ghoul.

"Assist!" I shouted.

Ned gripped my left arm tightly and launched me with a slight angle towards the ghoul.

I quickly used my left foot to leap and pick up more speed.

Luki hit the ghoul with another combo.

Slash, slash, cut, Oof!

A kick to the gut as a way of breaking off his combo.

"Timelapse!" I yell.

The world around me slowed down.

"This was my brother's famous attack."

My target

"This guy is tough." I thought.

His reaction time is insane!

Quite a bit faster than mine.

I will have to hit him where it counts.

Everything around me nearly stopped.

My heart was pounding, each one rang across the entire room.

Did I Timelapse myself this fast?

RECON was moving to dodge even before I used Timelapse.

I was going to hit the back of his head…

Sudden pain.

"ARRRGG!"

A stab in the heart.

At least what it felt like.

The world sped up again.

THHSSSHHINNNGGG!

"First hit!"

The blade struck RECON's wrist and cut through.

A burst of red.

A puddle on the floor.

Ghouls bleed the same blood that humans do.

I trip, duck, and roll to a halt.

He was already ready for a counterattack.

His right arm was immobilized.

A knife laced with poison was on its way.

I had no time to turn around and face the ghoul.

Sparks?

"How did you think it was a good idea to try something like that?" Luki swung upwards and blocked the attack.

RECON stumbled backwards.

"Thanks…" I coughed.

Something started to come up from my stomach.

"Urm… BLECH!"

"What the hell man?"

I fell onto my hands and knees.

Blood; Red human blood.

I coughed some more.

Small spurts of red came out of my mouth.

Chest pain.

It must be because timelapse had some toll on my body.

How did Reed pull it off?

Damn it, no time for this.

"I am… okay?" I grunted.

I shook my head.

My hands were shaking again.

I gripped the handles to my push daggers tightly.

A drop of sweat rolled down my face.

Slowly I stood back up.

"Whphoooo…" I exhaled.

I turned around and wiped the blood off my chin.

My hand passed by my face.

Did I seriously learn dual wielding push daggers that quickly?

I inhaled.

I watched as Ned attacked from behind.

Another cut formed on the ghoul's back.

With its speed it seemed to be able to parry and block away every strike with a single knife.

I coughed.

If I use Timelapse more than what I have already experienced, who knows how long I will last?

The blood kept coming.

I just wiped it away.

Ned parried the knife and slid off his sword to his right.

Thump!

A roundhouse kick to the head.

Ned got launched and rolled up to me.

"Yo, you okay?" I shouted over the fighting.

"I don't care, we need to finish this fast." Ned said, starting to stand up again, still gripping his blade.

I felt a sudden slight jolt.

Suddenly a light started to shine.

The room became brighter and brighter.

Even the torches around the area couldn't match that light.

STHHINNG!!!

"Duck or something!" Ned shouted.

Zapping sounds started filling the room.

His voice was barely comprehensible.

"No need, that is Luki's attack." I shouted.

More blood started to roll down my chin.

The little bit of dust cleared and there was another cut in our target.

Blood started pouring out of RECON's gut.

"Here I got this for ya." Ned called out.

He tossed a sword, my sword to me.

I put both my push daggers in my left hand and grabbed the handle of my blade with my right.

I tucked my daggers into place and clipped them on.

"I need more practice with this guy anyways." I sighed.

Shthhhh-THUNK, an arrow flies through the open doorway.

I heard Kaiya shouting across the room.

"She got the bartender and the beer chuggers out of here." Ned yelled.

A flurry of cuts then proceeded, 8 hits in total, 4 of them were blocked.

The ghoul gave a loud cry.

There was blood everywhere.

I coughed again.

My blood dripped into my sword.

There was a strange aura, and there was a small purple fire on my blade.

I touched where my blood landed and my hand did not get burnt.

Apparently this engraving is blood activated.

I clenched my teeth.

Shthinnnggg!

"ARGG!" I cried.

"What the hell dude?" Ned shouted.

"Check… this out." I shouted back.

The entire edge of the blade was alight with this purple fire.

I cut a deep gash, and there was a small puddle forming on the ground.

Drops and drops of blood.

Damn it, I cut my thumb, should have at least cut somewhere not that important.

Too late.

"Looks like you're going to be going in one handed with an o-katana.

Genius idea." Ned shouted.

"Yep let's go and kick ass."

RECON was too busy with wounds and the other two to see our movements.

"Give him hell!" I shouted.

Recon turned around.

A slash in the ribs.

A slash in the gut.

A cut to the arm.

A jab to the chest.

A final slash across the body.

Nice.

"This guy can take more hits than an eastern berserker." He yelled.

"Alright, good to know." I yelled back.

Ned stepped and slid out of the striking zone of RECON.

I dash to the right and then dash forward.

I kick up dust as I slide, crouch, and jump.

Sqqllttts.

I thrust my sword forward.

A cry of pain.

There was a burning whole in his body.

Sthhuuack!!

I swing it around from the left and cut through the original cut.

A lot more blood started pouring out.

The flames cut straight into the body.

Shinnggg!

This time from the right.

Across a gaping whole in his gut.

I could nearly see his organs from outside.

"Execution, stand back!" I shouted.

I shifted back and sent my sword straight down on the neck.

"Is that it?

Are we done?" Ned asked.

"Yep we are done.

First victory ever."

"That was a lot harder than we thought!"

"Mhm."

I just stood there, my hands stopped shaking.

"You okay?

Guys?" Luki called, walking towards us.

I use my hand to wipe off the blood from my blade.

The purple flames were put out as soon as I wiped them off my blade.

I sheath my blade and sighed.

"Yep, I didn't die."

"I am half dead inside." Ned shouted.

"Seriously?"

"I identified what type of poison is on the knife." Kaiya said to Luki.

"What is it?" Luki asked.

"Venom, specifically Seda's Cobra venom."

"Damn…"

SHOOM!

Shingg!

Kaiya stuck the knife behind my back.

"You planned this in order to be here when the ghoul arrives, correct?"

"Jeez… Well no, kind of a coincidence."

"Do you know how many "innocent" citizens you put in danger?

Honestly, we had no idea this one was coming this way.

The other two were sent to attack the head of the counterintelligence unit which had been stationed at a town just west of ours."

"I will bet you, the leader is not going to lose that one." I say, "From what I heard the counterintelligence was formed by a person in squad 4.

That should mean they aren't going to die that easily…"

Something feels like it is coming up my throat again.

"Mmphh!"

I cough and more of my blood spills out.

My eyesight suddenly got blurry.

I heard Kaiya sheath her knife.

"What the hell?" I grumbled.

"You gotta learn to control timelapse…" Kaiya said.

I closed my eyes.

I completely passed out.

Fwumph…

"...Idiot."

My body was slowly being laid into the floor.

"I need a quick nap." I coughed.
