A Mad Night

When the wolf of the phantom world uses its blood ability to hide its presence, even the energy released by it is veiled making it hard for anyone to perceive it. Therefore Sei was also unable to see it.

[It has hidden all its presence. I can't sense him at all. You have to be careful Sam].

Sam was cursing his luck even more. Every enemy he was meeting turned out to be more dangerous than the last and every time it became death and death situation for him. There was no win win situation.

A-rank adventurers have ton of battle experiences and therefore in a fight they utilize six senses to track their enemy. But its blood ability was so powerful that even they were not able to see it. 

The monster took this chance started its hunt game. It will randomly select its target and attack and each attack was 100% fatal. Many of them tried to fight but it proved futile and they died.

"If we continue like this everyone will be killed. We need a plan and fast", Leon said seeing all the blood. 

"Tell us what can we do?", asked Drill, another adventurer. Leon was racking his brain for anything after all he was one of the leaders and responsible for everyone present there.

"What is all this happening? That that monster just disappeared and even A-rank adventurers are unable to do anything", Melodia was witnessing people getting killed one by one. The bow fell from her hands and on the ground. "It is toying with us", said Haru.

Because it was still a newborn, its control on the transformation was not good and here and there during the attack it would come undone. This didn't go unnoticed by many and Leon shouted, "Everyone run towards the exit. Watch each other's back. Attack when it is visible and scatter when it disappears". 

As soon as the announcement was made every adventurer ran towards the exit. They would look out for signs of attack and strike whenever the timing was right. This way one of the adventurer was able to wound it in the back. Seeing his target fleeing and it getting attacked, stopped playing and started to kill and eat them. Till they reached the exit their numbers had dwindle to fifteen. 

Sam and his team members fell behind due to their slow speed. "What are we going to do now, we don't even where we are?" Melodia started crying. Every other adventurer had gone ahead leaving only the three of them behind.

'What to do now?', Sam had no intention of dying today.

'Calm down. Now that it has come to this I will guide you myself', Ryuu said to Sam. 'You will? Okay I believe you', he raised his sword and also asked Haru and Melodia to be ready to fight. 

"Where should I aim, huh Sam?" Melodia said sarcastically. "This is no time to joke Melodia, just follow my lead", Sam was feeling confident since the lord of the underworld was helping him. 

'Don't move, he is on your left', Ryuu warned. Sam turned his face slowly to left but couldn't see anything. 'Dodge NOW', Ryuu shouted and Sam jumped three steps back and the place he was standing earlier was destroyed. Melodia screamed in terror and became the next target.

"Move back Melodia", Sam shouted but it was too late. "Wall of clay", Haru's spell created a wall in front of Melodia but it couldn't bear the full attack and was destroyed resulting her being thrown back and landing on her back. 

Next it attacked Haru three times but he was able to protect himself. But now his mana reserves were low and anymore attack will kill him. Sam stepped in between Haru and the monster. 'It is beyond any of us to take it head on but let's see how long I can fight', with determination Sam blocked the first attack. 

'I can do this, I can do this', speaking under his breath Sam increased his morale. 'He is on your right', Ryuu's direction telling helped Sam and he was able to defend against many attacks. But slowly he was getting tired and so was the wolf child's patience. It started going all out and Sam was left with many wounds.

'I guess I am going to die today', lying on the cold floor in the darkness Sam had many regrets. Not able to explore this world, not making a girlfriend and the biggest was not able to fire a fireball even once. Slowly and slowly blood flowed from his body and he could see darkness enveloping himself. 

Suddenly his chest started feeling hot and his heartbeat grew faster and faster. The pendant started to shine and space distorted in front of him. Sam reached his hands out and pulled the sword out. 

"Heh, looks like I can't give up, Yet", seeing the sword bursting in black flames Sam got an energy surge inside. 'Ride on this feeling and assimilate with the sword. Only then you can utilize the swords inner energy', instructed Ryuu. 

Taking a deep breath Sam felt the energy spreading in his body. Like previously, Sam underwent transformation but this time the root like structures were closely packed and resembled a thick clothing made of red and black fibers. 

He saw the surrounding in front bent in unusual manner like when hot air causes light distortion and he was struck hard in his chest and thrown back. 

Even though the blow was powerful, the root structures protected him. At his first transformation Sam was horrified at them but now he could only thank them. "If you want to play then I will play", he concentrated to his utmost limit, his eyes slowly started glowing red allowing him to see like he had night vision. 

He could clearly see the monster's position and with the sword's flame growing bigger walked closer to the monster.
