Thorough Awakening

I had my mind in a panic-stricken state, constantly in search of answers about how to defeat the absurdity which is; making it fall into my trap.

The trap I had laid down was not an extravagant one. All I did was rely on my power of imagination along with the tools I had at my disposal to make it happen.

For the days I have been here, I spent that time gathering tree branches in several shapes and sizes.

Once I had gathered enough, I began tilling the soil with my bare hands. Like a mad dog, I dug and continued even when my palm started to peel.

Life is at stake here, what is the sacrifice of a peeling skin compared to that?...

I was able to dig about three and a half feet max. That is as far as I could go if I wanted to save energy for other purposes.

When I had finished digging, I sharpened the tip of each branch to look like a pencil, the same as the branch I had earlier held on to.

They were carefully sharpened and buried into the soil with the pointy side facing upward. Then, I camouflaged the surroundings using the soil I dug out, to make it seem as though nothing ever happened.

I also went through the effort of placing some sharpened branches in hiding places, In case the buried ones do not do the job, I will simply take the other ones out and start to pierce whatever beasts fall into the pit trap.

Call it my desperate attempt at survival.

Now? I am rethinking that great plan of mine. Not only did the branch fail to penetrate the absurdity's skin, but it did not so much as make a dent in its skin to suggest that there might still be hope left.

The absurdity came after me faster than my body could react to getting out of its way.

It got to me and pressed down its claws. My body was trapped, backed against the ground with its palm pressing down on me.

My bones cracked and I could feel and hear the crunching and forceful squeezing of my skin as it pressed its palm down on me.

Like a rag, it dragged my body on the coarse sand, further bruising my body very badly.

I held my breath and accepted every action committed to me by the absurdity.

When it was done dragging me on the ground, it easily picked me up and tossed me away.

I was sent flying and eventually crashed into a tree. The absurdity did not spare me a second of rest as it soon got to me the minute I landed on the ground.

It picked me up again and tossed me over to the other side.

I could feel it from its non-existent smile, how I was being toyed with by the absurdity. The pleasure it derives from messing around with me was undeniably enjoyable.

It was as though a child that had just been handed over a new plaything.

Except I wasn't a child, and my body isn't a plaything that could survive getting thrown all the time.

The absurdity threw my body again and luckily for me, this time it threw me closer to the spot where I had laid my trap.

I couldn't get up and hurriedly make my way to the trap because honestly speaking, I was working on the last ounce of strength present in my body.

I don't blame it. All this while I had survived on determination and guts alone. It is normal and understandable to want to break down at this moment.

But please, don't. Bear with me for just a little while more, at least let's see to it that I do not end up the only one dead.

To make my efforts worth it, I need to at least have the absurdity escort me on my way down to hell! Of heaven if at all any of those exist.

I consider myself to have been diligent while growing up. Been a good boy who has done no harm to anybody.

I crawled, barely getting my hand to reach the spot, hovering it above the soil. Just then, It came closer and pierced the lower part of my leg with its claw.

Damn!!!

It hurt so much but I did not allow myself to get carried away. Still, I continued my snail-paced crawl!!

With its claws stuck through my skin, it used it to drag my body back, far away from the trap and again, it smacked my body to a tree!!

That was how far I could go, I knew it and my body told me so. I tried to work against my tired mind and exhausted body.

But alas!! There was only so much resisting I could muster when faced with an opponent that doesn't get fazed at the sight of a pointy object aimed at its skin.

With a smile! I allowed my eyes the comfort it had wanted to take all this while.

.

His mind had gone unconscious, no longer aware of what his happening as he had assured himself it was over.

Still, he did not truly give up the fight.

His body had weakened and collapsed, his mind however remained unwavering.

Deep within was a craving, one that clung so tightly to survival.

For him, that craving became so deep that it manifested in spirituality, it gained a form of its own and then! It happened.

The absurdity slowly walked toward the laid down defenceless body on the ground, aware that Raul had lost consciousness.

It was; elated!

The absurdity about to get to Raul stopped in its tracks. Why! Because a feeling crept up the body of the beast that had so far dominated the battle.

In haste, it turned its body and attempted to get as far away from the unconscious Raul as possible.

In this dangerous forest, instincts were the primary source of emotions for the beasts to ensure their safety. And the instincts that were alarming the beast was no ordinary one.

All it was screaming at was desperation to not be anywhere near the unconscious Raul.

Vague memories were made in the mind of the absurdity, and every single one of them depicted Raul covered in eternal gloominess with nothing but death as his companion.

It was about to run but couldn't! Something was holding down its behind leg, hindering it from moving!

It turned its head to check and saw Raul with his eyes closed, and his right hand grabbing the back left leg of the absurdity.

Its ferocious face, the dominant face was no longer in sight, now replaced with nothing but fright.

With just a slight pull, Raul detached the absurdity's left leg, separating it from its entire body! The beast let out a shriek followed by a loud wail.

Its body becomes paralyzed from pain as it tries to get away from Raul.

Now! The tides have been turned around.

He relaxedly makes his way toward the absurdity and effortlessly picks it up by the neck using only one hand!!

He stared coldly into the eyes of the absurdity, and with a little more pressure applied to his fingertips, Raul snapped the neck of the absurdity in two.

Just like that, it was dead. The committed deed had finally been fulfilled and Raul's body went back to being unconscious.

Along with the beast, he fell to the ground.

Just then, THE voice rang in his head!!
