Freaking Saw It All

"Lydia. The hell is keeping you from getting something that would take minutes and instead spending tens of minutes on it".

The man's figure had yet to appear in the store when his thick manly voice did. It was seconds after that he came to be within view.

The woman and I turned our attention toward the entrance where the man stood.

From how things played out, looks like they are acquaintances. Well, that is not so hard to tell when one puts them side by side for evaluation.

He is very handsome, about the same age as the woman I presume, with styled hair and expensive-looking clothing comprising of a half-buttoned shirt revealing his smooth-looking chest and a blue crazy short reaching his knee.

He also has three heavy chains around his neck, arranged as long, longer and longest with the longest past his nipples. And piercing, lots of piercing done on his ear, nose and lips.

"My bad, Edward. I guess I was too engrossed in a steamy conversation with this dear boy. Isn't that right". She questioned as she turned her face to look at me.

"Do you know how gross you sound right now? That is a freaking underaged kid. Do you want to get sued".

Hmm... I am starting to suspect there is something else about these two bunchs.

First, the woman was able to see through my old skin and face to know that I was underaged. Now it's the man who effortlessly saw through me.

Am I the one who is being delusional about my facial features because of that one comment I heard from a customer?...

"If I end up getting tickets because of you, I swear you will have to walk your way home without me". The guy threatened, nonchalantly.

"Arghgh. Enough with the nagging, Mom". She teased with her hand waving at him to stop.

Having said his mind, Edward as he was called, went out of the store. I believe he stood outside waiting for the woman named Lydia.

"Boy, I want to spend more time with you, but sadly, I can't. Don't worry though for I will surely come back when I have time".

Meanwhile, I was done ringing her order and had packed it all up in a pollen bag. All that was left of me was to tell her the price and she would be on her way.

That is what I was about to do when the man came in and interrupted.

She hurriedly grabbed the bag's handle, and without waiting for me to name the price, she slapped down her palm on the desk and ran outside with the bag.

I expected her to pay with a card, not cash.

Surprised, I took my eyes to the table and saw a bundle of paper notes laid there, the first page showing a thousand figures on the paper bill.

Welp! I took the bundle of cash and counted it one at a time.

It was more than what I had expected, like a lot more.

What was I to do with such a large amount when the total value of what she bought was eighty per cent more than what she paid for?

I took twenty thousand out of the bundle and wrapped the rest together. In haste, I hurried out of the counter and zoomed out the door hoping to catch up to her.

When I got outside, I saw no sight of her and was instead met with a silent road. Barely any cars were passing by since it was still dawn.

I turned my eyes to my left, Looking at both sides of the road, and I saw nothing. Then, I turned to my right and saw a red convertible zooming off the road.

The problem isn't with the car I saw, but at the distance separating the car from me.

I remember saying that the store is located on a hill-type road, where it goes down sloppy and moves back up. The shop's position is exactly at that interval between the down and the up.

Like a V point and the store is at that part of V connecting the two lines.

Yes, that.

Now imagine myself standing at such a place with my head turned to the right and slightly raised to see the far end of the right line in the V.

Remember that the distance from both ends of V to the down point is about a thirty-minute walk. That alone shows that it isn't a distance that could be covered with just good eyesight.

Yes due to how sloppy the road looks, one will be able to see what is at the far end of both V unlike when it is a flat road.

Fine, acceptable. But what explanation should be given when there is no difference in sight between looking at the far end of the V from afar and looking at it up close?

"?!!!".

It is as though the distance is ignored, and what is standing about thirty minutes walk away from me is being shown to me on a screen, a close screen that allows me to grasp every detail happening, including how Edward is the one behind the convertible wheel and Lydia is sitting in the front passenger's seat, resting her hand on the door by her side.

It's absurd really! That is what I could refer the situation to.

My surprise was soon to come undone when the convertible had finally gotten to the end point of the right V line and was no longer within sight.

There goes my chance at refunding her change, but that is not the point right now!!

"I freaking saw it all!!". I exclaimed, running back into the store with quite a shocked face on.

What was I to make of this!!! Is it supposed to be normal!!

"No, that isn't it".

I got into the store and closed the door behind me. Not knowing what to make of this or from where I should start, I began to panic.

Standing close to the entrance, my body paced back and forth to the store, going from the entrance to the counter and back.
