34 Chapter 33: The Survival Beginning and Misery

Sophia stared at Mike's back as it would be the last time she met him. The only link to her pack was now gone. Before Mike left, he hunted some animals and showed Sophia the river so she could drink. After they found a cave for Sophia to stay in, Mike gave her his knife and then returned to the Moon Band pack. Now, Sophia was alone. 

The wind blew heavily. As dry leaves flew in the air, they spread the autumn scent. The sun was dimmed, and Sophia could only hug herself. She cleaned the carcass and shivered as it was the first time for her to touch the dead animals. She gathered some broad leaves and weaved them to be the cave's curtain.

Sophia was trembling when the rain fell with a massive wind blowing the cave. Though the leaves shield the cave, it was nothing compared to the power of the wind. Her teeth were chattering, and she didn't know what to do. Finally, she could only whisper, "Momma … Daddy …."
