Wren had gone completely still, a predator waiting to strike until he was certain his prey had realized the futility of resisting.

The midnight waves of his hair hung over his shoulders in silken tangles. The collar of his shirt gaped open, exposing the puckered scar that ran down his breastbone.

His cheeks were stained pink from his efforts to deny himself the thing that he obviously wanted, and the soft glow of the candle danced over his face, exposing the hunger that filled his eyes, darker than any shadow could ever be.

Feeling feverish now in more ways than one, Rowan shivered.

That barely there tremble was enough to set Wren into motion. With a swiftness that left Rowan breathless, Wren shoved his shirt up, exposing his entire torso except for the place where the material bunched under his chin.
