God of Vengeance 3

Author-san: Yello! Sorry for the wait, I am currently leaving the job that I once had and trying to get a new one in excavation. Right now I'm waiting to see if I get the job or not. If i don't then I'll probably be silent for a while longer until I do get the job. Until then, I will be focusing back on Son of Asgard and DC's Saiyan. Enjoy the chapter! Oh yeah, these are for the people who don't understand when Yggdrasil called Drüin and Ymir the same. What Yggdrasil was basically telling Drüin was that Ymir was also a reincarnator when he was living. There are NO other reincarnators after Drüin or before him that are living. That information drop was basically saying, Drüin is not special. There have been others like him that graced this one specific universe.

P.S. The theme for this story is now God of War: Ragnarok, loved the soundtrack there.

{Asgard Throneroom, Drüin}

'Loki Odinson, or Laufeyson if I wanted to he accurate..', Drüin thought, 'The God of Mischief and Thor's worst enemy. Honestly he is such a complicated character that I could consider him a morally gray person. There are times when I feel for the guy and other times when I think that he needs to be humbled way more than Thor. Then again, this all stems from how he was raised in the first place. Since I'm Allfather, when the Frost Giants attack I'm going to be the one heading there instead of Odin....wouldn't that make me his adopted father?'

Drüin Odinson sat atop his throne, deep in thought and ignoring the calls of his younger brother Thor. The little sparkling kicked Drüin's shins but found that it hurt him rather than get his elder brother's attention. Holding his boot in pain, Thor gritted his teeth then suddenly slapped Drüin. The God of Might's head hardly moved, though he did blink twice and looked down to his younger brother now. For a moment he stared at the future God of Thunder for a moment, then rose from his seat. "Thor, forgive me I was deep in thought." Drüin apologized, watching as the blonde headed boy head his hand in pain now.

"Mother wants you, she speaks of wanting to have a private talk with you." Thor replied, biting his lip as teard were in his eyes. The smaller Odinson's hand was throbbing from having hurt himself. Noticing this, Drüin placed a hand on Thor's head and ruffled up the young Asgardian's hair.

"Go to the Healing Chambers to have that looked at, little brother.", Drüin said while giving Thor a small smile, "I will go to mother, then take you hiking later."

Hearing this, Thor had a beaming smile come to his lips. He was estatic to do something with his elder brother. "YES!" Thor exclaimed then rushed off towards the Healing Chambers. Drüin watched the young Asgardian bolt out of the Throneroom. A concerned look came over Drüin as he started to walk out of the room as well. He was concerned for the future, for his people, for his home, for his family. Darkseid was gone for good, the New Gods were disorganized and would most likely stir clear of Midgard for now. Yet he knew from his prior knowledge of things, that there are far worse threats to the universe.

Walking down the hall, Asgardian guards stood at attention as Drüin walked past them. Some would never bow their heads despite their king being against it. That said he would give them the same respect as well. It wouldn't be long before he had arrived to Frigga's room. She remained at the palace to more or less teach Thor etiquette as well as the baby Baldur. Drüin halted at her door, and used his free hand to knock. In his other hand was Aegor, the gleaming golden bronze like spear radiating power whenever unchecked.

Drüin didn't truly wish to talk to Frigga, though he knew that something like this was bound to happen. It would better be now that he spoke to her than later when she could die.

"Come in, Allfather." Frigga called behind the door. Drüin reluctantly opened the door to find Frigga on the other side, rocking Baldur to sleep. As he stepped in, he looked around the room, finding terribly drawn pictures of himself and Hela around the room. Raising his brow, he even saw one where he was fighting Darkseid. One would have asked who had drawn these, but Drüin knew who did. Thor was the only Asgardian to think of him like this, a warrior without equal.

Closing the door behind him, Drüin watched as Frigga set Baldur down in a cradle beside her. She was seated in a chair, giving Drüin a slight smile. The two stared at each other, saying nothing for a moment. It was just silence, with Baldur's breaths emptying it. That was when Frigga took in a deep breath, and began to speak. "I...hope that you have been doing well." Frigga greeted, but found a stoic look on Drüin's face.

"I am." Drüin replied with no hint of warmth or kindness.

"Allfather-"

"Drüin."

"Drüin, I understand that you do not take a liking to me. I am sure that you despise me for taking the place of your mother. I can never replace her, I hope that you understand this."

Drüin said nothing, he simply stared at Frigga and allowed her to continue.

"That being said, please...do not despise your brothers. Do not take your hate for me out on them. They are innocent, they know not of-"

"I do not hate you." Drüin interrupted as his stoic expression began to morph into that of indifference. Frigga gave the God of Might a confused look, prompting him to continue. "I did not hate you Frigga, I simply hate that you had to take the role of my mother. It is no surprise to me that father tried to have you and I converse. He realized not long after Hela heard of you, that she cared so little of you. She hates you, she despises you. Myself?....I simply pity you for having to be in a terrible position."

Frigga was taken aback by what Drüin was saying, but watched as the God of Might continued to speak.

"My mother, Freyr, was there for nearly all of my life. She had her guided me to become who I am today. You could never replace that, nor could you ever replace the love that I have for her. I know that you wish to try and do what she had done for me, to keep me from taking out my frustration, annoyance, and anger on my brothers. But fret not, I am not my sister. Thor and Baldur are my kin, if need be I would lay down my life for them. That being said...there is something that I must tell you."

Frigga leaned forward in her seat now, watching as Drüin Odinson gave her a soft look. For the first time since she's known him, he was speaking more than short sentences towards her.

"I am sorry.", Drüin apologized, "I have lead you to believe that I hated you. You see I am not quite good at expressing my compassion for others. I never did see you as my mother, and I may never be able to. You came into my life at a time when my heart was...fractured. It is still trying to mend itself, and I do not know if I can ever recover from what happened to my mother. However, you should not have to suffer for it. For that, forgive me for causing you to believe that."

After speaking, Drüin watched as Frigga's eyes remained glued to him. Although he saw them widening as he talked, as if a burden had been lifted from her shoulders. When she said nothing, Drüin nodded his head to her and began to turn to leave. That was when he heard a scuffle behind him, glancing back, the God of Might felt something grasp at him. Soft arms wrapped around his back, and a head laid on the center of it. His brows furrowed, his body having tensed up when he felt someone hug him. Though his body slowly relaxed when he realized that it was just Frigga. Drüin didn't move, allowing the older Asgardian the time to embrace him.

"Thank you...", She softly whispered through a trembling tone, "A mother could hardly suffer such heartache by how a child views them..."

"You are not my mother." Drüin reminded, then felt Frigga nod her head against his back.

"True...but please, give me the opportunity to try to be one for you."

Drüin frowned, then faced forward. His mind wanted to say no, but his heart said otherwise. As if he wanted to mend a metaphorical wound that he gave Frigga from ignoring her for so long. He knew that she was destined to die someday, that she would he the catalyst to Thor's descent into depression. Closing his eyes, he inhaled and exhaled before opening his eyes again. "Very well." Drüin accepted, then felt Frigga slowly remove her arms from around him. He turned to see a teary eyed smile being pointed up at him. Causing him to slowly reach out and run a finger beneath her eyes to wipe the tears away.

"I hope that you know...that you are loved more than you know." Frigga slowly said, then slowly took Drüin's hand with both of her's.

Instead of replying, Drüin simply gave her a small smile. At the back of his mind he was scolding himself. Mainly because he knew that one day that she would die. By allowing himself to let her be a part of his heart, he would suffer heartache for when she would one day die.

{Asgard Caverns}

Drüin took in deep breaths as he walked down a long line of stairs. He held Aegor up, using it as a torche as both he and Odin walked side by side. They were finally headed to the Well, to gain knowledge that they so needed. The God of Might didn't doubt that both he and his father could kill Enchantress. The problem was that she wouldn't stay dead. She was one of the most tenacious villains within the DC Universe, being able to return from death so easily. This time she didn't even have a host body, she had her own body. Though it didn't encourage him to head down to Midgard and take her out. It simply made him even more wary, of Enchantress. Her gifts in magic was beyond Asgard's.

That said, Drüin knew that there are worse fates and death. If he was able to use and control the Runes that his grandfather had cataloged, then he would be able to make Enchantress suffer for taking his mother away from him. Odin placed a hand on Drüin's shoulder, causing the God of Might to look over to his father. The older Asgardian gave him a comforting look, as if reading Drüin's current thoughts. Just as Drüin was about to reassure his father, he heard the sound of a soft splash as his boot heel touched water. Except he didn't step through the water, and stood upon it like it was a floor. Odin did the same as stars began to shine down above them.

The two Asgardians looked up to see a nebula looking Yggdrasil towering over them. It's gargantuan size seemingly without end. When they lowered their gaze, they found the Well 20 feet away from them. Atop the Well being suspended in the air was a floating head with the power of Yggdrasil itself radiating from it's eyes. Those same eyes locked onto them as a began to creep on the floating head's face. "Odin Borson and Drüin Odinson...welcome.", The head greeted, "I am Mimir the All-Knowing and All-Seeing, I am the Warden of the Well of Knowledge. And I take it that you are here to peer into it."

Drüin and Odin both stiffened, it was like a wave of oppressive energy washed over them. It wasn't from Mimir, it was from the energy that surrounds this place. It was like being inside of Yggdrasil, but safe from it's primordial energies. That said, the two Asgardians did not falter and simply stepped forward. As they did, Mimir remained silent but his hueing eyes remained on them and followed each move that they made. When Odin and Drüin stepped forth, Mimir floated before them and stared into their eyes. His Yggdrasil glowing eyes peering into their very souls. "Well sons of Asgard, what are you willing to sacrifice for knowledge?" Mimir inquired with curiosity.

The first of the father and son duo to speak was Odin, the older Asgardian stepping forward with a resolute glare. "I...would give up my eye for the sake of knowledge." Odin offered, but found a "tsk" sound being made by Mimir.

"Odin, one eye for the sake of learning Runes that predates both you and your father's existence is not enough."

"Then you may have them both."

To this a satisfied smile sprung to Mimir's lips as his hueing irises began to shine even more. "That is enough for what you wish to know."

A blinding light came over the area, then the sounds of Odin letting out a groan. Drüin had to shield his eyes from how bright the light was, then when it ended he lowered his hand to find blood dripping from Odin's face. The elder Asgardian's eyes were gone, as if they had been plucked right out of their sockets. Drüin almost cringed at the sight of this, knowing that both he and his father were willing to sacrifice for what they needed to know. When Odin let out soft breaths, letting the God of Might know that his father still lived, Mimir's Yggdrasil filled eyes then landed on him

"Now then...what are you willing to sacrifice Drüin Odinson?" Mimir questioned with even more curiosity than before.

The God of Might stared at Mimir's floating head, taking in deep breaths. It looked as if he were trying to prepare himself for what was about to happen to him. That was when he closed his eyes, then took in one final inhale then exhaled. When he opened his eyes, he gave Mimir a determined look before finally speaking with finality.

"Take...my soul..." Drüin offered, and watched as the floating head's eyes began to shine once again.

"Are you sure that you are willing for your very soul to be taken?"

"Yes..."

"You will only be a shell of your former self, unable to truly express yourself."

"I know...but that is what I'm willing to sacrifice. Is it enough?"

"Indeed it is, just making sure that you are sure."

Drüin closed his eyes, expecting excruciating pain. For a moment he felt nothing, then for the moment after it felt like someone was tearing his heart out. A growl of pain escaped his lips as his soul was ripped from his body. Falling down to his knee, he panted gently as his body felt sore from it's very soul being ripped out of him. Slowly lifting his head, he watched as a wisp of energy began floating up towards Yggdrasil. Drüin watched as his soul was being taken to the tree itself, joining with it like Odin's eyes. Slowly standing, Drüin watched as Mimir floated back to allow both he and his father to peer into the Well. "I hope that you find what you seek..." Mimir commented.

Drüin nodded, then grabbed his father by the forearm. He aided the blinded Asgardian towards the Well, so that they both may look inside of the Well together. Once the two were before the Well, the God of Might and the former Allfather leaned over to look down into the Well of Knowledge. Both father and son felt their eye sockets widen. Their minds peering into the endless source of wisdom that sprouted from the Well. As they did, it felt as if they were about to be ejected out of their bodies. A blinding flash surrounded them once more, this time their feet left the watery floor beneath them.

Drüin and Odin both lost consciousness, their bodies being ejected from the place that they were in. The first to come to was Drüin, his body soar and dangling from a tree. He felt a tight ripe around his neck, keeping him above the ground beneath him. Quickly he glanced around to find that he was in the Asgardian wilderness. Glancing to his left, Odin was in the same predicament. The former Allfather was still unconscious but he too was dangling from the tree just like his son. Drüin raised a hand up to the rope that had him dangling by the neck like a noose. With Aegor still in his other hand, he used the sharp tip to cut the noose and freed himself from it. The moment that his boots touched the Asgardian ground, he felt unlike himself. As if a part of him was missing. Drüin looked at himself, feeling as if his body had an odd feeling come over him. Until he remembered what he had sacrificed, what he gave up to gain knowledge.

That was when the Knowledge hit him, the knowledge that both he and his father sought out. That was when he heard his father's voice calling to him. "Drüin...I can see it.", Odin croaked, "I can see the truth of it all. The veil that had been lifted before us is gone. The Runes, I can understand them...I understand why my father and your Grandfather made them the way that he did. They are not just a source of power, they are not just primordial powers given form...they are everything. They are...the Source."

Drüin had a blank look on his face as he slowly turned to his father, watching the older Asgardian look to nothing in particular. "Indeed father...which is why no one must know the truth." Drüin stated coldly.

"Agreed...the truth would devastate them...that we Asgardians...were never meant to exist."
