1 The Flower Boy and Red

9:36PM, 4th Full Moon

A big explosion rocked what was thought to be a peaceful night. Where once stood a beautiful crystal-like building has now turned into millions of broken shards, sparkling in the darkness like sharp and deadly snowflakes. The full moon illuminated a young lady's serene face amidst the chaos. And stood beside her, a man who never took his eyes off of his queen.

11:55AM, same day

23-year-old Red Springfield made a deep sigh. Tired of her boring and tedious job, she was desperate for fresh air and wanted to skip the last call she should have picked up 3 minutes ago. Fucking hormones.

Glass skyscrapers filled the city and their building was no exception. She works day and night at Floruchna Control Tower: the central command of the city. Each floor of the tower is manned by people called Chadron who work and specialize in various fields for the betterment of the city.

The ceilings of the building were all painted plain white and cubicles were separated with tinted glass cut at the right height to give a sense of personal space.

"Hey Red wanna grab a bite at the Buzz for lunch?" Wolfe called out from the opposite cubicle which snapped Red out of her internal musings. He was a nice guy. Kind of cute too. He was tall, lean and has got a hint of that toned gym-body girls would definitely drool over. Not that Red had drooled over him anyway. Admired perhaps? He is a bit over-confident in her opinion.

"No thanks. I'm just gonna go for a quick visit to my grandmama." She replied nonchalantly.

"Girl, you make me jealous! Bring us some of those delicious cookies your grandmama makes would 'ya?" chimed in Noelle as she sashayed her way back to her cubicle. She had been in their team the longest and a big sister to everyone. A team-leader, outgoing and beautiful, everybody loves Noelle Winters. From her midnight blue pixie cut hair to her cherry-red lips and round doll-like coffee eyes, every move she makes just makes her more irresistible.

"Yeah, sure why not? If grandmama baked lots I'll bring some over." Red said as she shifted from side to side in her small chair, anxiously awaiting that little one-hour break. She looked into her golden pocket watch. 11:59AM. One minute left till noon break. The clock's ticking drags on, every click of the second hand was another second closer to her longed escape. Tik-tok-tik-tok-tik-tok-tik-tok-tik-tok-tik…

The company bell rang and without hesitation she grabbed her things and half walked, half leaped her way towards the crystal elevator.

"Yo girl slow down, nobody's chasing your butt!" Noelle called out. "Don't forget our cookies!"

Descending from the 34th floor, Red could see the cityscape of Floruchna from the clear glass, a haven of technology and nature in pure harmony. The elevator dinged and out dashed Red, through the main lobby of the glass building and into the morning sun's mercy.

Red's grandmama lived just across the corner street next to their office building, about two blocks ahead and would normally take ten minutes to walk. Whenever Red wanted a quick escape, she would instantly think of sweet grandmama and her chewy aromatic cookies.

But first, she must pull herself through the hustling urban jungle. Red navigated her way through the busy crowd of the Great Crossroads with ease and arriving at her grandmama's building, something caught her eye and she stopped mid-track up the first few steps.

Did that flower stall near the entrance exist before? She thought to herself. A cold gust of wind blew and the sweet scent of the flowers wafted in the noon air.

It was a small stall situated in a niche of the building that a worn-down statue used to be. The shopkeeper was nowhere to be found.

Curious, she got closer and started inspecting the little display that was available. She picked up some dainty white flowers and observed it had grass-like foliage and erect flower stalks which supported what looked like stars. They had a distinct sweet fragrance she quite can't put her finger into - like a distant memory that she was fond of but can't remember.

She took another check at the flowers. Maybe grandmama would like these?

"You chose a very special flower miss." a melodic cool-toned man's voice said behind her ear.

"Oh shit!" she exclaimed as his breath brushed through the tiny hairs of her left ear sending electric shocks from the back of her skull down to her spine. Adrenaline shot to her toes making her jerk in surprise, which made her silly foot trip. Moments from kissing the pavement, strong arms caught her just in the nick of time.

"Whoa easy there!" with such an awkward position, left arm crossed to her waist's right, her right hand raised clutching the flowers, body a bit twisted and their knees knocked on each other, she looked up to see a man's deep emerald eyes staring back at her, the corner of his lips curved as if scoffing at her clumsiness. What a smug face. "The name's Archer and I own this flower stall. Would you care to buy some flowers, miss?" he said.

This. Is. So. Embarrassing.

"Heaven can take me now." Red thought out loud. The tall guy arched his brow as if in amusement.

Oh shit.

That came out wrong.
