First Test of Promise

"Seven years later".

That magical and enchanting place are still fresh in my conjecturing observance. "I can't let it out of my mind". The dazzling rainbow colors, the sparkling variegated leaves of golden trees, birds literally singing, animals exactly talking, those things transpired like it was just yesterday.

Hope and I were used to have a conversation about it, and we're both agreed that it is not a daydream, we are in a factual and enthralling atmosphere where we can treasured again at any point of our lives. Phrases formed into my speculating mind that someday, "I would be there"!

As I strolled down the rough road to return home from my afternoon class, the gust of the wind changed, the cerulean sky twisted into dusk stressing that a heavy rain may drop soon. And so, I thought to myself, "I need to run quickly to keep out of the rain". Suddenly, a vivid color of rainbow unexpectedly appeared while the dark and dusky cloud returned to its bright blue azure color.

While viewing up the sky, I found it unbelievable. "How come that the rainbow emerges when there was no rain and appeared out of the bright blue clear sky"? I whispered to myself while I am in great surprise.

"It supposed to be turned up right after the rain"!

Abruptly, my heart twitched, a strange feeling urges me to come home hurriedly. I didn't know why but I really felt it. "there is something wrong".

As I am running swiftly, the rainbow seems pointing my path going to Hope's house and I finally got there.

I don't know why am I feeling anxious. My nerves are racking, and the reason why I am just looking for Hope out of the window is the lack of self-confidence to approach her parents but I certainly feel the courage to do it!

While my heart is pounding, I upstretched my right hand and without hesitation I knocked on the door.

"No one is responding"! I did it again and called her name. "Hope! Are you there"?

Quickly, I heard a loud sound of a footsteps from upstairs going down as the doorknob clutched and the door squeaked as it is opened.

The dim entrance of the house revealed a face of a woman. She looked like in wonder while gazing at my anxious and worried eyes. She's Hope's mother.

She asked me.

"Why do you seem so restless"?

"Ay ah um. I'm just looking for Hope if she's already at home"? I answered while my lips and knees are trembling.

"She is not here". After we have discussed about our decision to transfer her to other school, she left. I don't know where she went but surely, she will come home very soon.

"Hope is transferring to other school". My paled lips whispered.

My knees suddenly felt weak. My mind immediately sidetracked by the arguments that Hope will leave me and we'll have no chance to meet again. I slowly turned back and walked away thinking "why does this have to happen"?

I looked up in the sky, and started to cry.

The rainbow is still there. Where is she? I assumed like I am talking to its vivid color.

"Where are you Hope"?

Rapidly, it turned and point me to the vacant lot where we encountered the magical and enchanting place together. I run so quickly and I found her. Sitting on a green fine grass while trying to catch butterflies and pop up grasshopper to entertain herself. I walked soundlessly and sit on her right side. She suddenly stopped what she's doing.

"Is it true"? I calmly asked her while looking afar.

She turned her head left to hide the tears fell on her pinkish cheeks.

"Yes", she unhappily answered.

"My parents were assigned in other place because of their job so they decided that we need to move house."

"I'm sorry", she added while she is unceasingly in tears.

"It's not your fault." I responded.

"I know but, I broke our promise"! We promised to each other that will never be apart.

I looked up in the sky to halt my tears from falling.

I sincerely said to her.

"We may be physically in distant but I know our hearts will remain the same". You and I will have each other.

"But how"? She said in a slightly loud voice

"Did you see that rainbow?" Whenever you're feeling blue and alone, that rainbow will remind you that I am always at your side. That I am with you always. "This will keep us to our promise". Looking at her trying to ease her sadness.

"Pinky swear"?

I offered my right pinky finger as she stretched up her left to swear on our promise.

As we turned up in the sky, the rainbow suddenly dropped in front of us and showed an entrance to magical and enchanting place.

We entered through it and once more we saw that place. The gold grass, the shimmering colors of the trees, the animals talking and singing and the cave with lots of candy jars.  We knew it. "It is real".

Hope and I are both in high school, we have been together since we were little and all the time, we thought that this magical place is just a dream. As we grew up, it is cleared to our attentions that this is real. A real place where we can find and have each other and we called it "The Magical Promised Land".
