Something Is Lost

Zhong Xinyi is...well it's rather hard to put into words, you could go with a number of things to describe them. He is nonhuman, a murderer, some might call him a vigilante, an informant, or a genius at stealth. However one chooses to address them, it matters not, because, in this instance, he is but one person who has gotten themself into a situation he doesn't want to be in. Xinyi stumbles into a problem after one of his jobs, two opposing forces pulling him into their business almost completely unprompted, thrusting problems his way left and right and forcing him to make choices he'd rather not.

When You Realize

Having soap and running water again was really nice, he suspected this had been like a temp base for cupcake since there was all the necessary things needed to complete a thorough and in depth personal hygiene and skincare routine, which he happily indulged in. Cupcake's clothes were a little small on him, his only saving grace from being constantly mistaken as a child being that he was 203 centimeters, though that meant that he had grown as he only used to be 187, but he could put his own pants back on as they lacked holes in any important places, and the shirt didn't rip when he moved, as he had lost a lot of mass and cupcake had been quite a bit muscular. Pink wasn't really his color though, so he'd endeavor to get some new clothes as soon as possible.

He grabbed a water bottle out of the fridge, then it dawned on him exactly what he just did. When he smelt cupcake he was on the ground, but when he saw her? He was at least 22 meters in the air, and that did not account for the distance between the building and the side of the street cupcake was on. He sat down cross legged in front of the fridge and closed his eyes, thinking, and then he was sinking as he was pulled by something, and then they were landing on their ass in the middle of a rather large cloud. Nope, not a cloud, a rock in the middle of a very angry sea, churning with sea foam.

" Took You Long Enough. I Have Been Waiting Here For Forever!"

Xinyi whipped around, not knowing what the fuck he was gonna do, but knowing he was going to do it! Then he realized he wasn't gonna do shit, as they came face to face with a damn griffin. He came seriously close to falling over, but they did not, so they won this round, checkmate griffin. He didn't say shit at first, then he realized there was no point in being nervous as he knew exactly where they were. He conjured up a chair with a rather impressed look.

" Huh, You Are Far Too Chill, Oh Well. My Name Is Ailbe, And I Reside In Your Chest, Mostly! I Have Recently Been Awakened By You! This Means That You May Now Use My Power As The Second Most Powerful Being In Your Known Universe!"

" Second?"

" Kamala Won Our Last Fight, So Until I Can Contact It, I Am Stuck At Second Best!"

" And if they never fight you again?"

" Hmmm, Don't Know, Don't Care! Now, I Thank You For The Offering!"

" Offering?"

" You Ain't Very Talkative, Is You? Yes, Cupcake As You Keep Callin Her. You Do Not Technically Have To Eat, That Is Just The Drain On My Power You Are Experiencing, Not Actual Hunger, Apologies. I However, Would Appreciate More Offerings, Only As The Hunger Gets Bad Though, Or We Might Actually Explode! That Is Never Fun To Piece Back Together! It Will Hurt, I Will Make It Hurt, So DON'T."

" I won't."

" Good. Now Leave!"

And then he was back on the kitchen floor, not even a few minutes later, looking at the fridge. Xinyi decided they would deal with the griffin thing later, first was getting the necessities that they would need for day to day life. He'd also need a place to stay, and since that man knew about this place and cupcake, it couldn't be here, bumber. He needed a job, but he needed I.D for that and his was most definitely both expired and unbelievable! Creating fake I.D was too much work and giving himself a backstory that was believable was something he didn't want to do.

He sighed as he slipped out of the window and crawled his way onto the roof. He one again sat cross legged, but he did not close his eyes. They focused on their body for a moment, then gave up trying to summon their wings and brought himself back to his feet. They shifted their backpack so both straps were on his shoulders, then he was bouncing off across the roofs. He had much to do before the sun came up! First stop? Why, they were going to visit the man of course! They weren't going to eat him, they were full, but they heard him talking about a DIU and a No something in a shady manner with cupcake, so his place must have some work he could do without needing an I.D, right?

Xinyi raced off, chasing the lingering smell of the man before he ran out of roofs to hop, coming up on a bridge. There was a large green sign hung over the bridge. Now Exiting Lower District 6-10. Entering Upper Districts 5-1. Xinyi knew he would have to descend to the ground and start walking, but that was infinitely more boring than soaring through the sky, whether by way of rooftop or wing. They sucked it up as they climbed down and started running on foot.

It was a whole hour before he hit the strongest piece of the man's scent, like cabbage and steamed buns, appetizing but not what he was looking for in a meal today. He had gotten the hang of some of his powers on the way over, so he used them to muffle his steps and erase his presence, slipping around corners and past guards with ease. Xinyi moved like a professional, and only he would ever know he was not one.

He hovered outside of the man's office, listening in on a conversation he was having with someone, a very loud one that involved yelling and very angry questions. They assumed it was about the conversation from earlier with the words DIU and No'Tergilage being thrown around, but with nothing to base it off of they didn't much care. They knocked on the door, waiting for the conversation to end and the phone to be hung up before they were given the all clear to enter.

" I told you a million times not to bother me while I'm working, Evan! What do you-"

He didn't even get to finish his sentence before he was out cold. Xinyi removed his hand from the spot on the man's hair where he had been gripping when he rammed the man's head into the desk. He was still alive so he'd be fine, probably. After that they took to rummaging through his things. He figured out the man was the boss of a small gang operating out of the 5th district, the outermost part of Oustlem, the city they were currently in. Xinyi paused briefly to wonder when he had moved continents, but his memory was rather fuzzy right after he was discharged, so he didn't think on it too long. The gang had a name he couldn't care to find, yadda yadda yadda, expenditures, more useless shit, aha, jackpot. He pulled out the letter and read it over carefully. It was an announcement for an underground gathering of the city's criminals. The original was written in code, but there was a sticky note taped to the bottom of it with a clarification on what it actually was. The date put it at being three days out, enough time for him to get stuff to throw an outfit together. There was a dress code to be followed, and the letter would serve as proof of entry. Also on the sticky note was a reminder not to lose the invite, which made Xinyi smile. Now that he was covered he set his scene. He took one of the bottles down along with a glass, drinking half the bottle before he filled the glass halfway and set it up to make it look like he was never in the building in the first place.

Fun Facts With Lucius!

1. I have LED lights that are green because I can't find the remote to change them!

2. Lucius is one of many names, but at the moment it's the one I like best.

3. The love interest is shorter than Xinyi, but could bench press Xinyi and one other person.

4. There are more chapters here than in the old draft, and I am very lazy when I edit chapters.
