Something about HER

"Jill!" Sheri whispered. Jill continues to give Sheri grief. Though, in all honesty Jill didn't care, nor did she have room to judge. Jill has done what Sheri is about to do once or twice. Maybe even three times by the time she's done with Anthony. Who knows what his status is? Don't care... But Jill could shamelessly say this, she's never blatantly seen a man's wife and still brazenly flirt with their husband. Sheri was on a whole new level of savagery, and Jill wasn't letting her best friend off the hook so easily. Jill thought to herself, the next time Sheri tries to act all innocent and poise to judge me, imma rub the dirt all up in her face. She continues to push Sheri’s buttons till she gets up to leave and go to the bathroom. Jill was getting ready to tell her to use the gel when unexpectedly, Sheri collides into the Governor. They were a whole tangled mess, Jill practically had to pull them apart before his wife came. The Governor was grateful for her intervention because even he realized he wasn't focused. Upon meeting the governor's wife, Jill was 100% sure, she did not like her. This self-important, condescending chick, made Jill simply want to backhand her. Her whole attitude was trash. She looked down at Sheri and Jill the whole time with fake greetings of kindness. But Jill matched her energy. Like b*tch, your not about to run over me. But Sheri... Practically became her yes girl. And Jill had to fall in line because it wasn't her fight. *** After the awful encounter with Monica, the Governor's wife, Jill got to work on making sure Sheri had a more prominent presence. The girls went to the bathroom, and Jill opened every stall to make sure no one was around. "What was that?!" Jill yelled. "I know right?! Absolute b*tch!" Sheri added. Jill wanted to smack Sheri. "No! You!" Sheri was confused. "You're not focused! When she came up to us all stank, you had no fight in you. You acted like a docile little girl. She said jump and you went 'how high?' Even I had to fall in line." Jill was so infuriated. "Oh...". Sheri said in recollection. "Listen that right there was a freebie. Monica is not about to think that's how things are gonna be moving forward." Jill declares. Sheri was silent but signaled she understood Jill continued as she paced the spacious restroom. "She's the one that had things she wanted to discuss with you, not the other way around. You should of let Monica know what day YOU were available instead of going along with what she choose!" "I know I just got nervous..." Sheri put her hand to her forehead. "Well that needs to be out of your system now that we have a vague idea of what she's about. When we go to the Governor's house, don't act all impressed, as if you've never been in a place like that before, and whatever she asks of you, tell her you need time to deliberate. She's not getting her answer right away." Jill looked at Sheri sternly. "You're right! I'm sorry!... I guess I felt bad about my behavior with her husband that I kind of submitted to her." Sheri admitted. "So are you gonna feel bad about the Governor's behavior too?!" Jill snapped "Takes two to tangle, And y'all was entangled!" "Jill... I don't know if I can be the type of woman that can mess with a married man..." Sheri lowered her head. Well what is she trynna say about me! Jill thought. *** Hey everyone, thank you for your interest in my book, this is my first time writing a story. Hope you enjoyed this excerpt. This is my original work and the setting is urban American. My characters are of African American, Caribbean, and Hispanic descent, so this book may have a different flavor from the more traditional stories on here, so feel free to comment if there are any slang terms or phrases you don't understand.

"Omgosh, could you have said that louder!" Sheri whispered shirked at Jill.

"What?! We're young and we're poppin, they're old and they're balding." Jill said rhythmically.

Sheri's eyes bulged as she stared at Jill.

"What? Okay, I'll chill. But can you relax too? You know I don't do well with being stared at, and with you acting like you have a stick up your butt as well it makes me all the more nervous." Jill said eyeing the catering staff with the champagne glasses.

Sheri knew Jill was right. Whenever she was in a room full of unfriendly faces, she did become stiff and self-conscious no matter how confident she was before stepping in the room. Jill, on the other hand, gets silly. It's her coping mechanism. In her mind, if they want to watch, why not give them a show. This is helpful for the club and bar scene but at a Galla hosting anyone who's a somebody is not where Sheri wanted to look ratchet.

The event was hosted at the newly renovated spy museum. The High Tech interactive atmosphere made both Sheri and Jill excited to try some of the new world breakthroughs in spy technology.

Jill was already occupying herself with an interactive hologram. It gave her a full mission to complete with fake credentials. Her new alias was Isa Mendoza from San Antonio, Texas.

"Call me Isa Mendoza for the rest of the night." Jill giggled

"Ok Isa Mendoza my turn." Sheri quipped.

"No way! You're being awarded Principal of The Year, everyone needs to know who you are." Jill chastised.

"Besides all these harsh eyes around us are just so convinced we don't belong, I can't wait to see the look upon their faces when they realize who you are Principal Sheri Lee Woods." Jill said smugly.

"This is why you Jillian Maria Sanchez are my best friend " Sheri answered tenderly.

"Shhh! It's Isa Mendoza!"

Sheri giggled at Jill's antics, but she was right. This was the Educators Annual Appreciation Gala, so if anyone had a place here it was most definitely Sheri Woods.

The young nominee quickly scans the room for anyone she might recognize. It surprised her a bit to see how many local rich and famous would come to an event like this. Then again who doesn't like to dress up and flash their wealth for a "good" cause. From what you can see there were many of the social elite in attendance. From the higher-ups in companies like CEOs and CFO's. To ex ballplayers, like Reginald Bushwick. Local celebrities, like actor Wesley Swipes and political figures, like, like, like Governor Mark Garrett...

As soon as Sheri saw Governor Mark Garrett, she quickly realized that he had already been watching her. All though in normal circumstances, this would have caused her to turn away, Sheri felt as though she was in a trance. Like a moth to a flame, Sheri found the Governor irresistible. In her conscious awareness, she couldn't understand. She had seen the governor before, in pictures on social media, posters, billboards, TV. But in person... This very moment... Sheri could come up with no explanation as to what was happening to her... Or between them..

You see Governor Garrett looked at the young nominee with fierce intent. When their eyes locked and she could visibly see him swallow as her deep burgundy painted lips parted slightly as she subconsciously tried to inhale his essence from across the room.

Sheri squirmed a little as she watched his eyes make their way down her tone hourglass figure.

When his eyes seem to have had their fill, they resumed their position, which was staring intently into Sheri's. This time with burning desire that made she shudder.

To try to find relief Sheri moved her gaze to scan his frame.

Mark Garrett was 6"1 with what seems to be an athletic built inside of his slim-fit burgundy tux. He had a satin linen beige shirt inside which accented well on his mahogany skin.

The more she looked at him, he reminded her of a dark skin version of Steph Curry especially with his golden hazel eyes and dark brown coils cut in a low-high top fade.

When her eyes had their fill, they resumed their attention back to Mark's eyes.

A slow stretch of a smile spread across his face.

At this point, Sheri was completely embarrassed. And had had regained enough social awareness to turn away and stop staring like an opened mouth fool.

To her dismay Jill was in a deep conversation with some hunk. Leave it to her to find someone her age and mighty attractive to talk too. I wonder if it ever is exhausting being that beautiful.
