Monke Down

AN: I changed the dragon's image and edited the previous chapter since I found a dragon that suits Kara's appearance with the cover. Kid you not, I spend an hour finding pictures on Pinterest.

"Your name will be... Aerys," Kara said proudly, proud of the fact that she came up with a sensible name.

AN: I went through hundreds of names! (T^T)

The beaten-down dragon only nodded, and when Kara said the name, the two of them got surrounded in light.

It signifies that they have bonded, similar to Aela and Fluffy.

When everything was done, Kara healed the battered Aerys, immediately allowing him to get back on his feet.

"I thank you, Master," Aerys thanked Kara; from his knowledge, a handful of weak summons don't usually get good treatment and are used as front-line fighters frequently.

Kara waved it off since to her, it was nothing to thank for. "Mind flying? I want to know what it feels like riding a dragon." Kara may have wings, but everyone wanted to ride a dragon.

Aerys accept and lowered his head, "Master, I will show you why Dragons rule the skies," saying with utmost confidence.

Aerys didn't blitz around as he used to when fighting with Kara because it was a duel; Kara didn't run around, so neither did he.

It is to note that Dragons are prideful and arrogant creatures - they have the right to be when their scales are almost impenetrable, wings that create dust storms, breaths that lay waste to nature, and their shouts that carry power.

"Do show then, hurry up though, I can sense Hunters pouring in," she reminded, not wanting to be seen by the World, just not yet.

Kara looked around the devastated field and could only chuckle, a large crater, and numerous potholes lay waste onto the once green pastures; now uprooted.

In truth, Kara was too tired to even want to fly, hence suggesting it to her new summon. A prideful one will always try to rise up to the occasion.

'I can sense Papa's mana signature, and he's rushing the fastest.'

"Master, these humans are weak, except for one...I feel an ancient power dormant within him. Shall I lay waste to them?" Aerys' words brought Kara out of thought.

"No! The strong one you feel is my Papa, let's just go home," she instructed and conjured a mana arrow to follow.

"As expected of Master's Father, also a monster," he said and began flapping his mighty four sets of wings, quickly bringing him to the skies.

'I'm surprised he can feel the Ruler's Power. There's more to a dragon, I guess?'

As Aerys rose to the sky, he barreled towards Kara's appointed house, quickly breaking the sound barrier.

*BOOM!*

"Quite fast, aren't you? Can you go any faster?" Kara was genuinely curious, but her words sounded like mockery.

"I may be a young Dragon, but do not underestimate my strength! [WULD NAH KEST]!" Aerys shouted and like a rush of lightning, he cut through the clouds and left a parting behind him.

'Holy! That was quite the sudden bump in speed!' Kara thought, and was now pondering over his statement of him being young.

"Okay, okay, you're fast. But what do you mean about being a young dragon? You're quite massive already since you're three stories tall." Kara wanted to know since she spent quite a bit of energy fighting Aerys.

Considering how Aerys got battered to a bloody mess with 30% [Heavenly Strike], that should show their prowess already.

"Master, a summon is a being - formed by the wills and imagination of the people. People not only in this world of yours, but throughout this universe.

Us summoned beasts live in another realm; we roam and live in that realm like any other civilization. However, when one wishes to summon us, it's like a call.

We will only accept the summons if there is a benefit. One thing to note is that a summoned beast never truly dies. We simply reform once more in our realm, but there are cases of true death as well.

I have just been recently formed a century ago and summoned on many occasions. Meaning I have seen many worlds as well.

We get stronger when summoned since the more people see us, the more people believe and imagine us.

So, to answer your question, I am still a relatively young and small dragon. I have seen Dragons that reach a mountain's size, too."

Kara who was on the head of Aerys silently listened and absorbed his statement. Everything that he said shows that she was still weak in the grand scheme of things.

"You have seen many worlds, correct?" she asked inquisitively.

"Indeed, I have."

"Then, do you know what is a Monarch?" Kara asked, maybe even dropping a bomb.

It was silent for a few moments, but Kara could feel the bubbling rage of Aerys.

"Master, I do not know how you know of that term, but those are dangerous beings.

They summoned me into a world that was being ravaged by them; I was supposed to be the light that gave hope. Sadly, I was far too weak to even leave a dent.

Those are beings that can induce true death upon us; I was only able to live since my summoner canceled the contract... sending me back to my realm."

It saddened him when he mentioned his past, but the rage he harbored showed he wasn't afraid, rather itching to fight.

"I see, but don't worry, you'll face them in this world, too. We'll just have to train harder and prepare, right?" Kara sounded enthusiastic, probably comforted by her knowledge of the future.

Aerys didn't speak anymore, but silently flew. Soon enough, they reached home.

"Can you make yourself smaller?" Kara didn't want a mansion-sized Dragon loitering around to be seen, not yet.

*Shine~*

Aerys transformed into a rather inconspicuous white owl with beady golden eyes. But if one were to brush their hand across his feathers, they'll notice how sturdy they are.

"Impressive! Didn't know you could do that!" Kara was astonished; guess not everything is written down in a book.

Aerys smugly chinned up, basking in the praise. "Of course, each dragon has their own disguise that is catered to their personality. Mines happen to be an owl since I'm well-versed in knowledge,"

"Hehe, aren't I lucky then? I'm well-versed as well! Let's trade, teach me how to 'Shout' and I'll teach you my own magic!" Kara asked; she may be talented in magic but "shouting" was different.

"As long as you teach me that spell that forced me to the ground, I'll accept," he offered; he was rather humiliated after being forced onto the ground, so he had to learn of it as well.

Hearing this Kara was elated; she would be able to replicate a dragon's shout but that will take too long.

"Anyway, I'll introduce you to the Family, let's go!"

"Very well."

[Dinner Table]

The family was quietly eating dinner, except for one, she was deep into her thoughts.

This went noticed by Thomas and worriedly asked, "Kara, is there something wrong? You seem to be absorbed by your thoughts."

"Ohh! Sister, if you don't want to eat the grilled chicken, you can give it to me!" Aela who was naive of her sister's thoughts quickly asked.

Kara instead used her arms to block her plate, "No! I was just in thought, sorry about that," she said before resuming to eat.

After dinner, Kara tugged onto the sleeves of her Papa's floral shirt. "Papa, can we talk?" Kara said and brought her arms up.

Thomas immediately understood and picked Kara up like a child; Kara has always found this calming, so she's savoring it while still a child.

When the two reached the gardens Thomas spoke, "Is there something troubling you, Kara?"

Kara may look perfectly calm, but in reality, she isn't. The soon-to-be appearance of Kamish's gate is boggling her mind, hence her pondering mind.

"Papa, I can feel a massive gate forming in the West Coast," she said and silently laid her head on her Papa's broad shoulders.

"It's going to be the first S-Class gate; a dangerous one," she continued, and tightly hugged Thomas.

Thomas hearing this was rather shocked but didn't react all too much, except raising an eyebrow.

Soon, he felt Kara's hand tremble and a bit of sniffle here and there.

"There, there, Papa won't disappear. I will always be there." he comforted and rubbed the back of Kara; she may be mature, but not having a family in her past life made her cherish this family dearly.

"sniff... P-papa, you promise?"

"Promise."

Thomas just went and walked around the garden, all the while carrying Kara. Known or not, Kara was already sleeping comfortably.

'S-Rank Gate, huh?' he wasn't as excited about fighting as he was years ago. Years of having a family softened him, and made him fear dying.

[Central Park Zoo, New York]

"AHoo AHoo HOoo HOo~!" a strengthened monkey has made it inside an enclosure of other monkeys and was showing its dominance onto the others.

The leader of the group stepped forward but was immediately smacked unconscious by the awakened monkey.

*Trickle~!*

"HOOO~ HOO~ HOOO~ HAAAAA!" he was peeing on monke, asserting dominance.

As this was happening, a newly hired security guard was watching this with a shocked face.

"Damn... a big ass tiger with horns, and now a monkey peeing on a monke... those mushrooms are still strong," he said before leaving to wander around else where.
