6 Mystery Quest

(Third POV)

Appearing in the ruins of what looked like a kingdom Mingyoo stood there looking around. It was nighttime, but the moon was big and bright enough to light up the place he started walking.

As he was walking through the destroyed kingdom he suddenly heard something running behind him. All he saw run by was a black blur that he lost sight of.

His eyes glowed a mix of red and blue as he started to focus. He heard it again to his left. The sound of something cutting the wind as it ran by. At this point he had already took out his sword out as he looked around.

Turning to his right he put the sword in front of him as he finally got a glimpse of what was attacking him. It was some ugly thing with pointy ears and sharp teeth. It also had wings to fly, but it looked like it was just running.

After he blocked the hit it tried running away, but it was too slow as Mingyoo cut its bead off. Suddenly screeching could be heard all around him as hundreds if not thousands of glowing red eyes looked at him.

'It's not reasonable to use a sword here, so I need something different. Daggers maybe. Probably some throwing knives as well.' He thought. He decided to put 500k won into his system and turned it to gold.

He then went to the shop and quickly bought some duel machete type daggers along with multiple throwing knives. They were all A-rank and cost 40k in the end.

With both blades in hand he breathed in a used dash to run towards the first group he saw. With ferocious slashes he cut through piles of them easily, but they couldn't be underestimated.

They were B-rank because if their strength alone, but together. He was having to stay on his toes as they clawed at him, tried to bite him, etc. Some were flying and diving down on him, but he was able to narrowly dodge them.

Their speed was on par with his while his but over all he was strong. As he cut through hundreds of them. Blood flew everywhere as heads were lopped off, bodies cut in half, and some cut to pieces.

He continued to storm through them, but after some hours he was getting tired. He had to keep going though, because wave after wave of these things came at him nonstop.

He continued this until his swings grew slow and he was panting with sweat going down his face.

His clothes were already torn to shreds and was just wearing a cloak now as he looked at the hordes running towards him.

'I need to retreat and regroup. If it continues like this I might actually die.' He thought as he used [Cloud Movement] to get away from that area.

….

Somewhere east of the kingdom in a forest his body started to form again as he leaned onto a tree and fell to the ground.

'I want to clear this today, but the chances if that happening isn't too great. Should I leave and come back? I could come up with a strategy while I'm in the real world.' He thought as he was catching his breath.

Exhaling deeply he checked his status.

Looking at his status Mingyoo was glad that he got this strong. Instead of continuing he decided to come back later on when he could have an effective strategy of some sort.

Leaving the dungeon he appeared in his room with the same cloak on. It was a cloak that cleaned itself, so blood and stuff wasn't on it.

Looking at the window he saw that it was sundown. He looked at his phone and saw that he had a missing call from the hunters association.

'Why would they call me?' He thought with a confused look on his face. He called them back and after a moment of ringing someone picked up.

"Hello."

"Yes, this is Woo Jin-cheul, the manager of the monitoring division at the hunters association. I was calling to notify you of something." The man said.

"I'm listening."

"In the extermination of Hwang Dong-suk's r team, the only survivors were you another E-rank hunter and a D-rank hunter. The problem is that his little brother might seek revenge on you." He said with a serious tone.

"S-rank Hwang Dong-su?"

"Correct. You see what happened in the dungeon doesn't really matter. The important thing is that you, Sung Ming-yoo, survived. Since he's S-rank the law can't really bind him either. They're living miracles and at the same time catastrophes." He paused and continued with some advice.

"I suggest you watch out for him. At this point getting your loved ones and moving from the country doesn't sound like too bad of an idea." He said as the phone hung up.

"An S-rank hunter might be after my life." Ming-yoo muttered as he sat down on the couch.

After some hours of mulling over his thoughts Sung Ming-yoo let the problem go. That persons in America right now and if he needed to, although he didn't like the thought he could just hide in an ID.

"Tch, how pitiful." He said as he went to take a shower. It was dark outside and the street lights were on, so he decided to just get some sleep and grind it out tomorrow.

(First POV)

—Next Day—

Jumping back, I dodged a hit from one of the new monsters I've found.

I then used [Dash] to appear in its face and cut its head off. I've been in the dungeon all morning just killing and leveling up while learning new skills and leveling them up.

After killing some of the forest monsters I took a break and checked my status.

'A system message?' I thought as I took out a throwing knife and threw it into a tree. A forest monster fell from the tree with a knife in its head.

[Congratulations!! The host "Sung Ming-yoo has achieved the minimum requirements for "The Test"]

'What's the test?' I thought as I taped it trying to get more details. In the end I couldn't get anything out of it, so I decided to leave for today. I drank some bottles of MP potions and Health potions before I left the ID.

It's currently noon so I've been in there for quite some time. I changed into some casual clothes which was some black jeans, a white shirt and a black jacket.

I put on some shoes and left my apartment. I decided that I would do my daily quest some time tonight since it wasn't that important right now. Today I decided to walk around for a bit and have a sort if free day of me just going to do regular things. The test can be completed whenever and I had an idea about it anyways.

It said I reached the minimum requirements for the test to take place which suggests there might be hidden requirements or something.

'Whatever it was must have something to do with storm gods or whatever, but I only know a few of them. Plus that's only their name and not their backstory, so I can't really tell right now.' I thought turning a corner.

Looking ahead I saw lots of students coming from a highschool. Now that I think about it, I should also be in school. Meh.

I was about to take out my phone when I saw someone familiar. It was Jin-woo's sister and she was walking with a friend as they talked to each other. They seemed to be headed my way as well.

'That hunter Sung Jin-woo, all the evidence and events I've see proves that he has a way to get stronger and although I couldn't hear all of what he said, I know he said leveling up when he killed Dong-suk.' I thought with a thoughtful expression.

'This might be risky, but I want to see if we could swap dungeons or something like that. Maybe something like "multiplayer" but only us. First I need to get into contact with him.' With that thought I walked towards her and once she saw me she brightened up and ran towards me.

'That's weird.'

"Since when did you get a haircut? The mop top wasn't doing it for the ladies huh? Also are you were contacts?" She started asking me questions like we knew each other.

'Oh, she confusing me for her brother.'

"My name is Sung Ming-yoo. I was the guy that ran past you and your brother at the park the other day, if you remember that." I said introducing myself. Her friend whispered that she had to go and left on a bus that stopped by.

"Sorry, I thought you were my brother, but you guys look like you could be better siblings than I am to him." She said with a smile.

"I've been told that I look like him a few times before." I replied with a little laugh.

"I wanted to ask if there was a way for me to call him or get in contact with him? I had a few questions to ask dealing with dungeons and stuff." I explained.

"Shouldn't the hunters association be able to tell you his contact information?" She asked.

"Yeah, but we're in a little situation so I don't want them to know that we're in contact other than when doing dungeon raids or something."

"Is my brother in danger?" She asked with wide eyes.

'Well if my suspicion is correct he shouldn't have anything to worry about one S-rank.'

"Not really, but I have a few things I want to confirm with him."

"Thank god. I can let-" Before she could finish speaking some people pulled on my shoulders and started talking.

"Jin-ah, is this guy bothering you? You do realize she's in Highschool right? She a minor." On of the boys said. They were highschool kids probably from her class or just someone who has a crush on her.

"I'm a minor too my guy. You should probably stay out of my business." I said with a serious expression.

"Or what?" Said the other guy.

"Hey!!" Jin-ah shouted. She looked at them with a serious expression.

"Stop following me around. I don't need you looking for every chance to find something wrong with me, leave me alone!!" She said with irritation in her voice.

"Seems like you're the creeps to me. You just follow any girl you like around. You can get sent to hail for that." I said. They turned to walk away and I looked at her as she rubbed her temple.

"I can ask on another day if you want." I suggested seeing that she was really stressed out right now.

"Umm, I can send it to you if you give me your number, but are you really sixteen? My brothers twenty and you guys look the same." She asked.

"I don't know if I should take that as a compliment or insult." I said thinking about it. Not on some weird stuff, but Jinwoo doesn't look bad at all. Maybe a haircut, but meh.

I gave her my ID to prove that I was sixteen and she was surprised, but relieved as well.

We exchanged numbers and left it there since she had to get home and finish homework and stuff.
