Solo Leveling: Grimoire

Mark Williams is not a monarch, nor a ruler. He was not chosen by some omnipotent being to become its successor. He´s just a guy that awakened as a hunter with quite a unique ability and who does his best to live his life like he wants to. This fanfic takes place in America 5 years before the start of Solo Leveling. There are a lot of original characters so keep in mind that it will take a while for the Mc to meet the canon characters. https://discord.gg/MTJbUThzMk

Raid team number 1

Mark was returning back to the dungeon exit with the automaton walking next to him and the boss monster floating behind.

'It works great. This thing can clear a D-rank dungeon in 5-10 minutes, C-rank shouldn´t be a much of a difference.' Mark thought, satisfied with his creation.

"With tools like this, you shouldn´t have a problem clearing B-rank gates alone." said Hal from the back.

"Yeah well, I can´t get into B-rank gates, yet. That´s partly the reason I called you guys." Mark said walking closer to the gate.

The group stepped through the blue vortex and appeared back on Earth.

"I am going to make a guild, but I need one more member for that. It´s more of a formality and you wouldn´t need to do anything. I can even make you a magic weapon if you want." Mark said in all seriousness.

"If you´re gonna give me something like that." Allen said with a smile pointing to the golem. "for a signature, then tell me where to sign that shit and you´ve found yourself a guild member."

Mark chuckled at the honesty and responded. "I was thinking of making your crossbow automatic with magic arrows rather than another golem."

"After seeing this I think that whatever you make will be a top-level magic item worth hundreds of thousands."

"Hold on for a minute." Rick said holding Allen by his shoulder. "Do you really want just one member as a formality because I see no problem why our whole team shouldn´t join?"

"If you all want to join it´s fine, but.." Mark said surprised.

"With your weapons, we could clear more gates safely, and even if you take a cut it should still be more profitable than what we´re doing right now. Am I wrong?"

"Not at all. I think that would be beneficial for both sides, as well." commented Hal, thinking it through.

"So would you mind extending that deal to the whole team?" Rick asked Mark.

"Yes, of course. I didn´t expect that kind of interest. We need to write all that down, but there is no problem with the whole team joining. Making all the weapons will take about a day or two, though."

"Two days? I was expecting something like a month." Allen said astonished.

"I built this in a week." Mark knocked on the hard armor of the automate. "Enchanting a crossbow or a shield, shouldn´t take that long."

"Guys I know this is great, but we still need to wrap up this raid." said Ava.

The group was standing in front of the gate this whole time, just talking.

"Yeah, you´re right. I got lost in the moment." said Rick rubbing his forehead.

They entered the cabin, leaving the boss´ corpse on the ground. Hal emptied his backpack filled with essence stones on the table.

"We didn´t get a lot today." Hal said while counting the stones.

"How much is it?" asked Rick.

"66, 67, 68, 69 with the one from the boss."

"That´s nice." said Allen.

"Yeah, They´re D-rank so 69 times 50. That is around 3,5k which is about 3,3k with taxes. Everyone will get approximately 700 without counting the boss." said Hal.

"Not bad." said Ava.

"To get back to the guild stuff. When do you all have time? If you don´t mind, we can start with the paperwork today." said Mark.

"Sorry, I have something today, but tomorrow or the day after tomorrow I´m free." said Rick.

"It´s the same for me." added Ava.

"I have to go to the FBH to report on today´s raid." said Hal.

"Alright, then I´ll call you tomorrow. How about that?"

"Tomorrow is fine." the group said in unison.

"Ehm, would one of you mind taking me home?" I don´t have a car yet."

'I should probably get one. This is getting inconvenient.'

"Sure, I can take you." Allen told him.

"Thanks a lot."

They said their goodbyes and headed home, leaving Hal to deal with the rest. Allen brought Mark to his apartment and drove off.

Mark took the elevator and entered his apartment. He changed clothes from the hunter equipment to a casual T-shirt and pants. Happy with the results of today´s raid he jumped on the couch and rested for a few minutes.

Lying on the couch he took his phone and made a call.

"Yes?"

"Hi, Lucy. Do you have time?"

"I´m unemployed and not in education. I have all the time in the world." Lucy said lying in her bed.

"Great, I´ve found four members to join so could you prepare the paperwork for tomorrow?"

Lucy shot up from her bed. "Four? In not even two days? How did you manage that?"

"I asked them." Mark said sarcastically.

"Yeah, I assumed that. It´s hard to do it a different way. Well, can you send me their info or better yet their licenses on the FBH? I´ll prepare the paperwork with that. Did you ask them how do they want to be paid or something?"

"I thought we´ll discuss that kind of stuff tomorrow."

"You´re giving me a little more work for tomorrow, but that´s okay. I can take it. Alright, I´ll get to it when you send me the info. See you tomorrow then."

"Yeah, bye." said Mark and put his phone on the table.

Lying on the couch he decided to turn on the TV.

'Why am I even paying for this thing when I have internet?'

[S-rank hunter Emma Jones will be finishing her training at the Scavenger guild next month with an A-rank gate clear.] said the reporter, standing next to a thin woman with long black hair.

'Hey, I´ve seen that girl.'
