This is the first novel that i got to read. The manga adaptation was so good that i couldnt wait its weekly release that i resorted to reading the LN. Now i got to enjoy both LN and Manga.

Writing Quality: The author's original writing quality, while not the best, is definately 5 star. That said though the translation quality makes this story nigh unreadable, so that brought it down to four stars. Stability of Updating: Figure that the translation is unstable with name slaughtering. Futhermore, while the speed is there I'm not too sure about stability of said speed. 3 stars for speed and bad translation. Story Developement: The story is obviously planned and there are many deeper parts which keep the readers guessing and enthralled with the plot. So, on account of the deep and well-thought out plot, this gets a 5 star. Character Design: For this I put 4 stars but in actuality I just rounded up from 3.5. The characters aren't completely 2d and have some depth. The problem here is that there isn't any development. So, on account of the still character develolement, between a 3(2d charcters) star rating and a 4(Character growth), a 3.5. World Background: There are many mysteries and the world us deeper than it appears. There is a felt connection between Earth and another world. And they got our world mostly right, or at least a world where hunters are present. That said 4.5 stars rounded up for the nationalism and blatant racism towards the japanese. That said, I expect nationalism from most novels so it's not a big deal. Besides, it's not like the japanese are excactly great throughout history. Especially the invasion into Manchuria and the Rape of Nanjing. Anyways, I digress. World Background is great. Summary: The novel is great. The story is interesting, the world is thought out, the characters aren't 2d. The only problem is that the translation quality leaves much to be desired and isn't readable as it is now. But, from what I saw through this translation and 25th_chestnut's trabslation, the novel is great.

Sung Jin-Woo (성진우) is the protagonist of the series Solo Leveling. He used to be known as the World's Weakest Hunter and is on his way to becoming the World's Strongest Hunter after he Reawakened and became a Player

great story, although horrible translation. Qi should learn from the folk at reddit, chestnuts and meraki were gods and you killed them to make money without effort

I'm writing this review after hitting paywall at chapter 41. Story itself seems rather promising and is perhaps slightly better than average story on the site. Nevertheless problem was I did not get attached to main protagonist nor did I find plot compelling enough to continue. What I enjoyed most were side characters - a rich kid that snares main character to help him to start a guild, one-armed experienced hunter and others. Compared to bland protagonist that I never quite managed to understand what drives him - apparently he wants trillions of won, but never seems to use money for anything when he has it. It feels like protagonist got lucky, but doesn't quite know what to do with all that luck - so far protagonists decision to spend his points in strength in the beginning and then continuing to do it because 'meh, might as well continue' seems to characterize him pretty well. It also works in the world he lives in. Nevertheless story was starting to pick up when I dropped off. Whole attempt to recruit character to different guilds, an experienced hunter with a grudge and other plots were promising and were set up pretty well. Overall world in the story was a-okay. Randomly appearing dungeons were contrivance I've seen often enough, but idea was used pretty well. For once I'd like to see randomly appearing nightclubs instead of dungeons in a world where governments are trying to find best 24h party people to explore these mysterious places. This was not that story, but it did make me wonder if I should try writing that. In a way you could say I found this story inspiring. It's not a bad story, but I was not willing to pay what I estimated to be over 6,5€ to read up to chapter 71 (that's how many chapters there were on site when I was reading the story) since I might as well buy a novel from my favourite authors. It's better than free stories, but not good enough to be worth paying more than I would pay for a published novel. At least it did not feel like that from reading up until paywall.

So far I like it.. poor MC is being seen as a scrub. It will probably be the usual super weak to super strong. Now I just need to type some more for 140 characters

Now what can I say about Solo Leveling. The story at first felt like a normal story where the protag simply gets a system but then the world expands with plenty of characters and the origin of the system. Overall it's a great story for anyone who wants to read something with a system but with proper ending and world building.

I think this was an alright read. The plot was a little slow and it had a lot of grinding (as expected with op main characters in this genre), but it got there with some cliches in the end. I've heard people say it's a better version of The Gamer (which I've never read) so I guess that explains part of the hype. The worldbuilding is REALLY good imo (like I looked over it with a guide, it checks all the boxes. fellow writers take notes!! defo not on the dry saliva bit though). As for the translation, it seemed to me the translator was a little too eager to help in their notes. A few have said it ruins the experience, but I think for the most part it's good. At the very least, I learned a bit from their excessive explanations lol. In my opinion, the comic's a lot better than the novel, but this was alright as I said.
