9 Chapter 8

It's been a month since we became official genin. The past month has been filled with completing a lot of irritating D-ranks. I knew I would have to do it eventually but it's still irritating.

If I have to catch that demon cat one more time, I'm going to skin it alive. Anyway, we've also been doing team training this time. Our teamwork and individual prowess have been growing steadily.

Kaito no longer charges headfirst into every situation. He's able to formulate decent strategy or at least rely on Himari or I to form it.

Himari has been working on her endurance and has been learning other elemental jutsu other than poisons.

While all of this training doesn't really benefit me, I've been working on my own project. The Flying Thunder God Technique.

It's been a jarring process of trial and error but I'm almost there. It's only because Shisui made me learn fuinjutsu that I'm able to understand half of these things.

I could just buy the jutsu from the system, but I'm saving my points for the Eternal Mangekyo. You may ask how am I getting system points, the perfect answer would be 'D-tank missions'.

I get reward for each mission, although I could get higher reward for higher rank missions, it's best not to rush it.

'System, how many points do I have currently?'

{Host currently has 21,150 system points}

Unlike my first mission that gave me 1,000 system points, These missions give me between 50-200 points. I'll have to go on at least ten more missions before I can get it.

'*Sigh* Nothing good ever comes easy'

Currently my team and I are on our way to the hokage's office. As we get past the secretary and knock, a faint 'come in' was heard.

When we walk in, a genin team was leaving the office at the same time. Each of them sported claw marks on various parts of their body. It's not hard for anyone to deduce that they just completed the mission to find the demon cat, tora.

As we enter the office, the hokage greets us.

Hiruzen: "Team 12, punctual as always. I have called you here for a mission. But first, Yamato, what is your current assessment of your team"

Yamato looks at the hokage with a proud smile on his face before speaking.

Yamato: "Not to brag, but I would say that they are the strongest genin team this year."

The Hokage nods.

Hiruzen:"I've notice. Which is why I'm assigning your team on a C-rank mission. Do you accept?"

Yamato:"We accept"

The hokage looked towards the random chunin working the mission desk before collect a file from him and giving it to Yamato.

Hiruzen: "The mission is to clear out a bandit hideout at the border of the Land of fire. Have your team ready to depart soon. Dismissed"

We all nod before leaving the office, but not before the hokage gave me an inquisitive look. As if trying to unearth some kind of discovery.

As we left the hokage office, Yamato turned to us.

Yamato:"Go home and pack things you think you'll need to survive for a week. We'll meet up at konoha's gate in two hours."

We all disperse to our various locations. I head to the Uchiha compound to pack my things. As I pack I see Sasuke leaning on the doorframe watching me pack.

Sasuke:"So you're going on a mission"

I'm literally the only person who Sasuke can actually have a normal conversation with.

Izuna: "Yes. I won't be back for at least a week. Try not to burn the house while I'm out."

I bite back a laugh as I remember when Sasuke was very hungry but was too impatient to wait for the food cook properly on the fire. Do you want to know what he did? He used a minor version of the fireball jutsu to heat it up quickly, almost ended up burning the kitchen if I didn't put it out.

Hearing me teasing him, Sasuke turns his face pouting and grumbling. If any female was hear, they have fainted already from their 'Sasuke-kun'.

Sasuke:"That was one time."

I couldn't hold it anymore.

Izuna:" Hahahaha..."

He just turned his face away even more before leaving the room with one last comment.

Sasuke:"Good luck on your mission."

As he walks away, I see he's wearing his arm braces on each arm. I had drawn a hiraishin formula on each of them, just in case anything happens.

Just because I can't use it yet didn't mean I don't know how to draw the formula. As I finish packing my things into my bag, I seal it in a small scroll before putting it in the ninja tool pouch hanging at my hip.

I could just keep it in my inventory, but that would raise questions which don't want to answer.

I shunshin to the Konoha gate. Seeing as I'm the only one there, I try to see if I can make the final push to learning the hiraishin.

Half an hour later and I still haven't made any significant progress. Hiraishin basically teleports you from point A to point B. The problem is how does it do that.

Does it scatter your chakra a reform it somewhere else? How.

'*Sigh* I guess I put it on hold for now'

Just as I had that thought, I see Yamato and my two teammates walking towards me. Himari is the first to speak.

Himari : "You're here early."

Izuna:"Hn"

Himari: "Mou~ so cold"

She complains while pouting. Kaito suddenly comes between us.

Kaito:"Yo, Himari..."

Himari:"Don't even think about it."

She speaks sharply without letting him finish. Kaito has been asking her on a date for a long time but she keeps rejecting him.

We all know that he doesn't really want to ask her out, he usually just says it as a joke to get her flustered or riled up.

Yamato:"Enough fooling around. Let's go. It'll take us two days to get to the borders if we hurry."

And thus started our journey to the borders of land of fire.
