11 Chapter 10

We made our way back to konoha in silence. Body seemed to want to talk. As we got to the hokage's office to deliver our report, my two teammates remain silent throughout the entire ordeal.

The hokage and Yamato surely notice this. The hokage finally addresses us directly.

Hiruzen:"You've done a good job. It is expected for every ninja to go through what you're facing. The only thing we can do is give you time to reflect. Team 12 is relieved of their services for the next two weeks. Dismissed."

We left the hokage's office, dispersing to our usual locations. As I return to the Uchiha compound, I don't see Sasuke anywhere.

'He's probably out on a mission. I didn't have a chance to check my rewards before...System show me the rewards for the last mission.'

'System, what are the effects of the body refinement pill?'

{It improves several aspects of host's body and gives additional boosts, such as; increase in bone density, increase in strength and speed and last but not least. It can slow down the effect of blindness of the Mangekyo.}

That last part really shook me. I knew of the curse of blindness and frankly I always fear if it happens before I can get the EMS and now I had a way to slow it down? Of course I'll take it.}

'Use the body refinement pill'

At that moment I felt pain all over my body. It felt like I was being stabbed by a thousand needles. The pain soon faded away as I could feel the changes. My muscles were more compact, I could feel the power in them.

I spend the rest of the day getting used to my new strength and speed before retiring to bed at night.

I wake up the next morning and still no Sasuke. As I thought about going to ask the hokage, a black figure appeared in front of me.

Acting on reflex, I aimed a punch at his head which he tried to block, but he was still slammed away.

I take a proper look at the intruder before realizing that the figure was an anbu.

Izuna:"I apologize, anbu-san. I acted on reflex."

The anbu ignored his words and delivered the message he was sent to deliver.

Anbu:"The hokage requests your presence.

He ignored my words but is still supporting his fractured arm. He disappears in a puff of smoke.

After quickly freshening up, I made my way back to the hokage's office. I made my way past the secretary as it suddenly hit me. This was probably the time when Team 7 fought Zabuza.

Hearing a faint 'come in' after knocking on the door. I enter and see the hokage drop a scroll as I made my way in.

Hiruzen:"Ah...young Izuna. I have something to ask of you, but first...Why do you seem okay even when you're teammates can't even think about the mission without puking?"

His tone was that of a curious but cautious man. I just gave him the same answer I gave Yamato.

Izuna:"Killing is a constant in a shinobi's life. We knew what we signed up for before we took that mission."

The hokage seemed to be in thought for a moment before speaking.

Hiruzen:"Spoken like a true shinobi. If only most of our genin thought like that. Well, that brings me back to what I wanted to ask. As I'm sure you've noticed, Sasuke isn't in the village right now."

He spoke slowly while staring at me intently. Probably trying to see my reaction.

'Too bad, old man. It's not going to work'

He continues speaking.

Hiruzen:"Team 7 went on a C-rank mission, but on the way they had some...unforeseen complications. The mission was a C-rank turned B-rank, bordering A-rank. They have requested backup, and with your skills and your teammates are unable to perform, you are the perfect solution."

Izuna:"Why not send Yamato-sensei?"

He looked as if he expected the question before he answered.

Hiruzen:"Yamato is currently on a mission and won't be able to make a detour. So I ask you, what is your decision?"

I couldn't just jump into this. They didn't need help in canon, so what happened?aybr they needed backup but they didn't get there in time for the mission.

Izuna:"What time do I leave?"

I want to fight Zabuza or Haku. I wonder how many points they are worth. The hokage threw me a map.

Hiruzen:"As soon as possible."

I leave the office heading straight for Konoha's gate. I still had the scroll with my equipment packed from my last mission in my inventory.

On my way there I quickly scan through the map with my sharingan. Since this will probably be the only time that I can travel at full speed, I'd rather not stop every ten minutes to check the map.

At full speed it'll take me probably an hour to get there. I bent my leg legs before I burst forward at full speed. To onlookers it would seem as if I teleported.

I could feel my hiraishin marker in the Sasuke's general direction. I don't use it yet because it would take a lot of chakra which I would need for the fight.

After half an hour I could feel my marker close enough that I wouldn't waste too much chakra.

'Hiraishin!'

By the bridge of land of waves, two fights are taking place. One between Kakashi of the sharingan and Zabuza, the demon of the mist.

The other fight was between Haku, Sasuke and naruto who was now almost unconscious. This fight seemed to reach its climax as Sasuke was on his knees with naruto laying beside him half dead.

Sasuke had finally activated his sharingan as his eye bled red as dozens of ice needles made their way to his immobile body. Before he could think of a course of action, in a black flash a figure appeared beside him.

Throwing a shuriken towards the ice needles, a calm voice pierced all of their ears.

"Ninja art: Shuriken shadow clone jutsu"
