Origin of Luciel's church

"Why would you tell me any of this? Besides, why does Luciel even have a church if she was killed by demons?" I ask, trying to make sense of the reason, Treyah Tuldani told me this tale.

"The church exists because we did not want Lucille's Light to be abandoned. Demons were finally united, whilst I do admit in a rather crude manner. But we were united, why allow us to stray away from each other?" He says in a pained tone.

"Why would demons leave the city?"

"Because we have become inherently selfish and violent. We need a semblance of authority, even if it's not a strong one."

"I highly doubt that any demon or devil would leave even if the church got destroyed. The stronger devils have made their own law and structure. Just look at the market district." I respond, pointing out the one area where there is always peace.

"Perhaps your right. But Lucille's Light was a viler place in the past, besides, those stronger devils only decided to implement these guidelines and boundaries because they had an example to follow." He explains carefully.

"And why exactly would you tell me this?" I ask, actually starting to wonder what his point is?

"I was getting to that." Treyah Tuldani responds, annoyed by my continuous attempts of cutting the conversation short.

"..." Seeing that I'm starting to touch some nerves, I decide to keep quiet and simply listen.

"I'm telling you this because your opinion on this matter will become important. Ergillaz simply wouldn't care about anything related to the church, as he only fights Anima because of some personal conflict. You've acted surprisingly open-minded for a demon, well, I guess it's to be expected from a reincarnate." He speaks, the ending of his speech dissolving closer to mumbles. Making it impossible to understand.

"What makes me so different to make you draw this conclusion?" I ask, trying to understand his perception of me.

"You've adopted a young devil girl that was dwelling in the streets, and you've shown mercy twice during the tournament. Not the sense of comradery that's common in Lucille's Light. On the other hand, you've also shown that you kill rather easily, so perhaps you're simply a demon easily swayed by the heat of the moment. But most importantly, you're still young. You carry no previous grudges or any bias towards others."

"..."

"You simply judge what you deem right at the moment. Not knowing the context nor really anything about what has happened till this point. But I believe that when a person fights a battle, he should know why he fights it. For Ergillaz that would be the deal she and Ulthris broke and for the church, it would be her "radical" views for the future."

"How should one define this radical view of hers?" I ask, hoping that his reply will not become another dragged-out tale.

"She wishes to resurrect Luciel and return Lucille's Light to its even more violent past." The first sight answers surprisingly blunt.

"Resurrect Luciel? How would someone do that?" I ask, keeping myself calm and composed. It simply sounds unrealistic and wishful, so I'm not that panicked.

"I don't know, but we should not wait around and see." Treyah Tuldani replies, seemingly frustrated.

"Then do something," I reply, not impressed by his lack of initiative.

"I think you're quite aware that the church does not have the power to do anything drastic."

"What a shame."

"So, what are you going to do?" Treyah decides to ask, forcing me to cut to the chase.

"That depends on what's going to happen. If Ergillaz decides to compromise in some way, then I will have no reason to fight Anima or Ulthris. But alas it doesn't seem that will happen, so I guess I will be fighting them. You told me this tale because you believe that I have the potential to become one of the pillars of this city. Then I do have to ask why wouldn't you be lying to me? You could easily make up any tale to fit your narrative." I calmly explain To Treyah Tuldani, showing him my distrust and general careful attitudes regarding myths and legend.

"If this city falls, then so will all semblance of a society! How will you protect that girl in the chaos that would ensue?!" He asks me in a loud yelling voice, The sound of breaking branches mixed with his scream of rage.

"Is that a threat?" I ask towards the first sight, a dark aura engulfing my body as my killing intent seeps out.

"No, it's a possibility." Treyah Tuldani replies in a more dignified manner this time. He's still clearly frustrated, but has taken notice that he's crossed a line and that if he continues I might attack him.

"Well, thank you for reminding me of such pleasant scenarios. But I can guarantee you that will NEVER happen." I say in a rather authoritative tone, I wasn't sure if this would be fitting against someone who holds one of the highest stations in Lucille's Light. Even if the concept here of order and authority is about as clear as to why PI has so many numbers. Still, there is one crucial point that he has told me. I'm one of the few devils or demons if not the only one that the church can still try to influence, from the ones that matter anyway. Otherwise, he simply wouldn't have tried to influence me with this tale of his.

"You can't den..." Treyah Tuldani tries to speak, but I swiftly decided to interrupt these futile thoughts of his.

"DO I make myself clear?" I ask again, speaking with quite the authoritative tone. Making it clear that there is only one correct answer.

"…"

"…"

"Yes, you have." The first sight responds, trying to hide his bitterness.

"Well, that was quite the conversation. However, I believe we're finished." I say whilst raising my hand, beckoning some servants to come over.

"Will you allow that woman to destroy this city and endanger everyone you care about?" He asks me in some desperate attempt to verify what I've already stated.

The brilliant servants of this estate have immediately noticed my signal, as they arrive as soon as Treyah Tuldani has finished his sentence.

"Until tomorrow, first sight," I say towards the first sight, completely ignoring his question. Being led by some servants, I return to the inside of the manor. Having finally finished a conversation that felt like it lasted for weeks.
