Solitary Vampire

It’s the year 2357 on earth and the world has been at war in a three battlefront against humanoid lizards gifted by magic called dragonkin, aliens that had far more advanced technology called the Xalorians, and the remnants of angels and demons called ShadowFallen.  No to mention the aggressive beasts that roam the universe Through the war humanity has grown too big to stay only on earth, having finally gone to space and occupied planets that one could only dream of, but the universe’s mysteries are far and wide but closer than you may think. Rosaline, a young 16 year old girl, had been given a book to her by her dead parents that had died on the battlefront against the dragonkin before humanity and the Xalorians signed a treaty in the name of ‘preventing’ war and to deal with the powerful dragonkin. Like that treaty had ever stopped war and the Xalorians being hostile towards humanity. But no matter how hard she tries to open the book it wouldn’t give her face, not even pouring acid. But one day just before she goes off to her new military school after middle school, she accidentally poked her hand and a drop of blood fell onto the book.  A system appeared giving her a chance to become stronger, thinking this was a miracle. What she didn't know at the time was that it turned her into something not human. A Vampire. ********************* This novel was inspired by a lot of different media that I have seen so you may see some similarities between them. I will make sure to mention and give credit to the media when that happens. Updates everyday at 16:00 EDT I will probably be able to pick this novel back up again in December of 2026.

Cursed Canyon: Part 4

Banging had echoed throughout the cave like a beast trying to get out of their cage.

Everyone didnt know what it could be, surely it can not be another beast.

Right?

Half of the skeletons from before were gone and the drake had started to fight back against the dead.

But still, they were both wary of each other.

The drake used it tail and claws, swinging that at the skeletons.

All kinds of bones flew to the walls, ceiling, and floor. It was incredibly noisy from the echoing of their rotten bone marrow.

But the banging was noticeable, slightly shaking the entire cave that not even the drake could do.

Even if they felt the banging, the group couldn't do anything about it as their situation was still dire.

Even after taking down all the skeletons the drake wouldn't let them go.

They were far to good of a meal for that.

While Lucas was getting another teleport spell ready, which made his performance weaker, Aiden was to find an exit.

A weak wall of earth and rock was created to block an attack.

Aiden's gut had been feeling like he was suffocating, giving him a hard time with breathing.

He looked around in a panic, yet was unable to find an exit or path other then the original they had came in through.

It was the only lace to go and Aiden had to tell them that.

Lelia, that closes to him, asked about the escape route.

"Is there any place to escape through?"

"N-n-no!.. only through the same way.."

"Great, I'll tell the rest."

Lelia manipulated the air around her to the best of her ability and spoke, using the air to

enhance her voice.

"The only exit we have is the entrance from before!"

Lucas and Emma had heard and nodded.

The battle had gone for an hour more before there was enough skeletons gone for them to leave.

With the drake distracted, Aiden was the first to leave, followed with Lelia and Lucas.

Emma kept guard against the drake, ready for any surprise attacks.

Once they had gotten far enough, Emma turned and ran as fast as she could.

The drake noticed what they were doing only at that time yet couldn't do anything about it and left them be.

As the group ran with there life, some had continued to trip and other had bloodshot eyes.

Soon when they couldn't hear the fighting anymore, they had come to a full stop and all fell to the ground.

None of these students had experienced anything like this, all new to the universe that is out there.

Lelia had started to cry a bit, with tears streaming down her face now dirty with dirt and dust.

Aiden passed out and Lucas tried to hold him upright.

They were all in a pathetic state.

Emma got up after a few minutes and continued walk back from were they first came from.

Lucas didn't say anything as he was even too tired to talk.

They hadn't realized yet but the banging they had heard before was all gone.

Emma continued to walk until she stepped across a white line on the path.

Noticing this detail she hadn't seen before, she chose to look closer at it.

She followed the white line before she got in front of a different cave.

Emma immediately went back to tell them about it.

"Another path?"

"Yes Lucas, we can try getting out from there."

"…"

Lucas, Aiden, and Lelia were all tired from the fight before.

Their mental state had been given a shock from the whole situation.

"Let's take a break before continuing." Lucas said soon after.

….

Roseline was gasping for air after the amount of pain she had gone through.

Before it was like she was turning into some kind of monster and trying to claw her way through her skin.

The goop from the ascension to 2 Star was still there.

New indents were all over the walls of rock and gravel.

Taking in deep breaths, Roseline soon recovered and pulled up the System.

———————————

She had just jumped 4 levels in one go and gone through evolution.

Two levels from the Daily Quest and the other two from the skeletons.

——— SYSTEM ———

You have gotten stronger and gone through evolution

Unsealing of the Cells: 55%

——————————

A whole 19 percent of the 'seal' was removed at that time.

She didn't go into the trial just yet as her mana was all gone and she was exhausted.

So using this time she decided to take a closer look at the book that the skeletons went crazy over.

It had a black leather cover with silver metal on it.

The writing was strangely enough in English, being the word 'Shadow'.

It looked old, being beaten by or because of Roseline and someone else before her.

She tried to open it but it stood firmly closed.

'Not again…'

All she could guess was that she would be able to open it only after the completion of the quest 'Explore the dark canyon'.

She put the book on the floor and put the left over free stats to use.

She put 3 stats into Strength, bringing it to 40, 3 to Agility, and the rest in Defense.

All that she had experienced so far had been life threatening, she wasn't going to take risks.

She didn't know what she was going to come across, didn't know where in planet Olreon she was on, and don't know just how far the System will help inside the trial.

When she saw the System react to the so-called trial, she thought of the tutorials or dungeons that were in games.

She got up when she was done resting and went into the entrance of the trial.

Getting pass the sign, she felt like she was just dunked in water with something pushing down on her.

Dizziness filled her head and Roseline remembered this feeling.

Teleportion.

She was going to where ever the trial was going to take place at.
