49 When did she move?

Evans pov

My forehead burnt with the heat and the pain almost killed me. It felt like a bolt of electricity passed through my body and stilled in my head. This was the first time I had felt pain for such a long time!

I shook my head many times before opening my eyes. The bright light made my eyes narrow but after blinking a few times, it adjusted. I opened my eyes only to see that I was not in the infirmary anymore. I was in the servant quarter that was allotted to me and Jasmine was sitting on my bed, beside me.

There was no chair or other furniture except a bed and two small cupboards for both persons sharing the room. Still I felt uncomfortable when I saw her sitting too close to me.

I moved abruptly and sat on the bed as father as possible.

"Are you feeling better now?" thank goodness she did not notice my uneasiness and asked normally.

Her question made me frown. Did something happen to me? Except for a bit of a headache, I did not feel anything else.

"You felt unconscious after having an argument with the royal physician. Even my lady witnessed it." The displeasure was clear in her voice and I pursued my lips. Though the memory was foggy, I was sure I did not argue with anyone. In fact, I was denying to the new lady who was trying to come closer to me. But no matter how much I press my mind. I did not remember what I was anything for?

"Are you still feeling unwell?" This time her voice sounded a bit concerned and I shook my head.

"No, it's just a headache. I will be better in a while." she nodded her head but still did not leave the room. I was sure it was still working hours, yet she made no effort to leave.

I continued to look at her as I knew she wanted to say something.

"Didn't I tell you to make a good image in front of my lady? Why did you argue in front of her? If you would not be in her good books, you would not be able to run away.`` She whispered the last words as she was afraid that someone might hear her and the way she was repeating it so many times, I was sure that day was not too far!

But I didn't even remember seeing her in the infirmary, much less fighting in front of her. I rubbed my forehead again but no! No matter how much I tried, I did not remember anything she was telling me.

"Now go and apologize to her. And to get her good grace, serve her good tea." she instructed and i nodded with a sigh. She nodded back with satisfaction and then passed me a small box that was looking too beautiful but at the same time too exquisite for a servant.

"This was my brother's last gift to me." she replied in a voice full of longing. "I would never have the courage to use it. So, I am giving this to you. Go and serve this tea to the lady, she would definitely forgive you then."

No one had ever cared for me this much! The way she always tried to help me and think about me, I felt grateful and at the same time guilty too. I feel irked when she nags at me to act well and reminds me of running away again and again.

How selfish I was to think like that when all she was doing for me only.

"Jasmine you are too sweet, but I can not take something this precious from you. I will just go and apologise.'' I tried to stand but then held my waist tightly. I winced at her grip. As a woman I must say that she was too strong.

"No! A mere apology does not work on any nobles. They only measure your sincerity with gifts. So, you better take it with you." she added, while my whole attention was on my hands which she finally let go of after feeling my hesitation and uneasiness.

"I can not take something that did not belong to me, it is a very precious gift.'' My voice had final authority but she was not ready to let go.

"After brother, you are the only one I talk to. And I will never be able to use it for myself. Even my brother would be happy if he would see that I am giving it back to the lady." her tone was harsh, yet i could feel that her face was turning distorted. She must miss her brother a lot.

"Alright, thank you jasmine. You truly are an angel.'' I replied and she smiled brightly.

"Now I should go. I still have work to supervise. Remember to serve her the tea first and then apologize." she added and I nodded.

"Good, I am sure that she would not even be able to say anything to you after drinking this tea." I frowned at her usage of strange words, yet I nodded as I knew her intentions.

I stood up from the bed and took the box from her hands.

We both walked out of the room towards our designation.

"May I come in, my lady?" I asked after knocking twice when she finally looked above and nodded. Her eyes narrowed at my face as if she was not expecting me here.

I came here to apologize, my lady. I did not want to be insolent, but trust me I didn't even remember what happened to me. As if I was sleeping for so long. I am truly ashamed on my behavior.'' I bowed my head but she said nothing as if she could not hear me at all.

But then the sweat broke my face when I felt her hands on my arms. When did she even move from there?
