Marissa

I’m confused as I wake up as to where I am before I recognize it as my room. The bed that usually is so comfortable feels too warm and at the same time too cold. The room is dark with the curtains drawn over the windows. By the light that manages to force its way through the cracks in curtains I can see that it’s still daytime.

I push off the comforter and struggle to sit up in bed. I’m bathing in my own sweat. My head hurts and feels extremely heavy. I notice the IV connected to my hand and I furrow my brows in confusion. As my feet touch the carpet the door is opened and Antonio steps inside. He looks somber as his eyes search for me. An older gentleman with a bald head and a bushy gray mustache follows behind him.

When Antonio sees that I am on my way up from bed, he hurries over and sits down next to me. “How are you feeling?” His voice is full of concern as he gazes into my eyes.
