She was about to turn around to leave Matthew's bedroom when the bathroom door opened and her mother stepped out, wearing skimpy sleepwear and her heart and her jaws dropped to the floor. 

Her mother's shock and full of guilt faced did not help with the thoughts that were running in her head at full speed. 

"Lil…don't. I mean, it's not what you think," she said, fumbling with words to say. 

Lilly Rose opened her mouth to say but she didn't hear any sounds coming out of her mouth. She just opened and closed her mouth like she was a fish out of water.
