The past few days

Rex had spent the past 4 days sitting a the top of the tower meditating with Machamp. Mr Fuji had come up after the first day when he realised that the event seemed to be over.

TAP TAP TAP

The sound of light footsteps could be heard coming up the flight of stairs. Mr Fuji with his bald shiny head, long eyebrows and a lively look in his eyes could be seen with a smile. Marowak by his side looked around seriously. He didn't seem to be sad anymore.

But the old man froze when it saw the 4-meter tall beast sitting down cross-legged beside the man he had come to visit. An oppressive aura was seeping out of Machamp as it sat there. The orange glow of his hands pulsated which brightened the room for a moment before dimming the next in a rhythmic patter.

Marowak who was next to Mr Fuji was stunned on the spot as his eyes widened. It didn't last long as he burst into a full speed run before jumping into the air and sticking to Machamp's chest as he hugged him tightly. Machamp didn't seem surprised as he opened his golden eyes. he looked down at the little pokemon on his chest with a warm smile.

{Ah, if it isn't the little cubone. You have grown strong." He said as he patted the skull on Marowaks head.

Marowak shook his head and hopped off before flexing its muscles which bulged slightly. This caused Machamp to chuckle and nod.

{yes-yes, strong and big Marowak.} he corrected himself. Marowak nodded contently before turning to Rex who had just opened his eyes. The Pokémon didn't even hesitate and jumped on his chest to and gave him a big hug.

Rex smiled warmly. He then turned to Mr Fuji as he rubbed Marowak's back softly.

"How are you?" he asked.

The old man who was smiling off to the side watching greeting nodded slightly at Rex's question.

"I'm very good. I noticed that the town has calmed down completely. It seems that whatever it is you did, worked." He said happily.

Rex nodded before looking at the place the portal used to be, he hoped everything would be ok.

"That is indeed so, but I'll be staying here a few more days since I have some business here. What about you? What will you do?" he asked.

Mr Fuji didn't want to meddle and tactfully avoided prying, "I'll open the tower again for public use. Since the matter has been dealt with, people should be able to visit their loved ones again. And since that's the case, I have no reason to stay here anymore, I'll return to the orphanage. If you need something, don't hesitate to come over." He said before beckoning Marowak over to him before descending the stairs again.

Like this, three more days went by with nothing going on. Rex was beginning to get worried, but Machamp said that it would be alright. There was a certain glint in Machamp's eyes that Rex noticed. As if he knew what was going on. It puzzled him greatly, but he didn't hesitate to trust his friend and continued to wait.

Rex awoke on the fifth day early in the morning due to a golden glow. He originally thought it was due to the sun but realised that the tower had no windows. When he looked for the source, he found it to be coming from Marshadow's pokeball.

Rex knew what was happening. This was something that would occur when a Pokémon is going through a legacy evolution. It happened with Machamp, it happened with Arcenine and a similar, yet different thing happened with Steelix. And now it was happening to Marshadow.

"Machamp! Wake up! Look!" Rex yelled as he held the glowing pokeball up. Machamp opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was the glowing orb. After getting the details from Rex, a complicated look appeared in Machamp's eyes.

Rex was once again puzzled by that gaze and finally had to ask.

"What's with that look buddy?"

Machamp looked at Rex for a moment before sighing.

{It was a long, very long time ago…} he began to explain the history of the domain, his perspective and that of the other Pokémon. And the sudden war that began due to the greedy and power hungry nature of the doom walkers.

"Doom walkers?" he asked in confusion. From his memories, there had never been such a species of Pokémon in the franchise.

{Correct, doom walkers, guardians of the void. They are immensely powerful; they came in different sizes and shapes. But there were two incredibly powerful ones. Two brothers. No matter how many of our champions we sent, they were all slaughtered under their combined effort. The younger brother, made the ground quake and tremble. Nothing was left standing. His body, indestructible, impenetrable. A walking disaster.

And the older brother simply had the name… shadow of doom. Because that was the last thing you saw. A shadow before doom befell you. They were unstoppable. To the degree that they single handedly caused devasted the Pokémon extinction.} he paused.

Rex had cold sweat dripping down his back, this was power a Pokémon should not be able to wield. Maybe with a legacy, but that was the thing, they didn't have one. It was raw, monstrous power.

{but then it descended…} Machamp went on to explain what Arceus did and his new reforms. It's introduction of legacies and the creation of the legendries that roam the continents today. Rex was once again shocked to his core.

A single species was able to force the great Pokémon god to descend. Machamp finished his story there, he didn't have knowledge of what happened afterwards to the doom walkers but explained that they were imprisoned in that place for a millennium.
