"Victreebel, sunny day!" Rex commanded quickly. Victreebel didn't hesitate to send out a ball of light into the sky. It soon expanded into a miniature sun that shone brightly onto the grassy field. Even though this brought benefits to both parties, Rex thought it was still best to put it up.

"Now use Vine whip and tie it up!"

Thick vines shot out of Victreebel's side and shot towards Tangela at fast speed. "That won't work! Tangela grab onto it with your own vines and use slam!" Erika said quickly. Tangela shot his own vine-like arms out and wrapped them around the incoming vine whip. It then spun around and Victreebel was dragged to the side due to it. Before it could do anything it was pulled off the ground, over Tangela's head and face-first into the ground.

A massive cloud of dust rose up due to the impact and a few gasps could be heard from the audience. Rex remained emotionless like a robot and looked on with frightening silence.

"Use synthesis." He said calmly. Within the dust cloud rays of sunlight pierced through and a healthy green glow surrounded Victreebel. It got back all of its health instantly.

"Tangela use shock wave!" Erika said with a smile. Tangela amassed electricity around it's body before sending it outwards in every direction like an expanding bubble.

"Victreebel use leaf storm around yourself," Rex said quickly. Victreebel instantly began to spin like a top and sharp leaves in the shape of blades began to whirl around him. The shockwave smashed into the leaf storm and electrified the leaves. Small sparks could be seen jumping from leaf to leaf.

"Now use razor leaf!" he commanded. Victreebel began to redirect the tornado of electrified leaves and sent them shooting towards Tangela like bullets from a rifle.

Tangela couldn't move fast enough and was pelted with dozens of razor-sharp leaves that carried a small but potent amount of electricity. Once the attack was done, Tangela attempted to get up only to have a nasty shock visibly run through its body. It had been paralysed. Victreebel suddenly bulged after that attack. He had taken away a quarter of the opponent's health and gained half a stage worth of power. Rex told him to assign it to the attack stat.

"Use Razor leaf again!" he commanded afterwards. Leaves began to whirl around Victreebel again but before they shot out they were discretely covered in poison from the move toxic. After all, powder moves don't work on grass types.

"Tangela use your vines to swing away!" Erika said in a rushed tone. Tangela did as told and shot out a vine from its body that grappled to the steel beam that was a part of the infrastructure of the roof and swung away from the leaves.

The leaves having no target stabbed into every inch of the ground.

"Victreebel use swords dance." He said calmly. Tangela would have to come down eventually. Victreebel began to revolve in a strange twister of purple and red air. He had successfully risen his attack by two stages and stacked on top of the half a stage he got earlier.

Erika grimaced at the sight. She was being forced to attack or he would continue to set up. She couldn't allow that no matter the cost. "Tangela use ancient power and surround Victreebel!" she said quickly. Literally the next moment, rocks were seen hurling towards Victreebel. He easily dodged to the side but his routes of escape had been closed off.

Misty and Brock looked at each other with confusion.

"Didn't he see this coming when Ash was battling? Why did he then fall for it?" asked Misty.

"Who knows." Shrugged Brock. Equally as confused.

"Tangela quick wrap your vines around Victreebel!" shouted Erika with excitement. Victreebel stood there seemingly frozen and was soon wrapped tightly by Tangela's arms.

"Seems you lost Mr Rex. Why don't you surrender and spare your pokemon from any more pain," said Erika in a smug yet serious tone. But she froze when she saw the vicious grin Rex was pulling. Instantly she felt something was wrong, but it was too late.

"Victreebel use Giga impact!" he said as he punched the air. Everyone frowned when they heard his command. Victreebel was tied up, it couldn't move. But they all paled slightly when a small head came out from behind Victreebel and began to glow with a white-grey light before shooting it straight into Tangela.

Tangela couldn't see the attack much less react before it exploded outwards. It became a blur before it smashed into the wall creating massive cracks. The wall almost broke down due to the impact. And that was not the end, Victreebel began to bulge again. It had gained 1.5 stages worth of power after that attack due to taking away three-quarters of the opponent's health.

Total silence descended on the gym. everyone was staring at the small vicious head attached to a vine that connected the main body of Victreebel that swirled around slowly. Their jaws hung open with unbelieving expressions. This simply went against logic.

"H-How did… *sigh* that was unexpected. But it is far from over! Weepinbel come on out!" Erika yelled while throwing her second Pokeball out. But as soon as weepinbell took to the field it was gently pricked by a razor leaf that was lodged into the ground and a pale shade of purple began to appear on Weepinbel's face. before long it became more severe until he turned almost completely purple.

Erika was shocked speechless as was the crowd as they looked on with frowns on their faces.

"What happened?" asked Erika.

"The razor leaves I sent out the second time were coated in poison from the move toxic. But unlike regular poison, my Victreebel has been working hard on perfecting his. It is immensely potent. Your pokemon is finished. It will faint within the next 10 seconds." Said Rex with a wide grin.
