128 I Vow, in mind, body and soul

"Woah-Woah-Woah, relax for a second, he did not 'enslave' me, he caught me after I willingly accepted. We battled and I lost fair and square. I planned to learn as much as possible from him before leaving, but the more I was around him the more fun I had. I got stronger at immense speed, I have friends who have my back through thick and thin. Mordred, do not be mad. They are family as well." Marshadow said seriously.

Hearing his little brother say his name after so long made him shiver slightly. How long he had waited to hear his name be called out by his baby brother.

{Are you sure you trust this human?} he asked seriously.

Marshadow didn't even think and instinctively nodded, "of course, plus, you don't have to be so sceptical. Although Arceus is a dog I will one day butcher, he is still incredibly powerful. He did well on his word. Humans are no longer scared of Pokémon. Instead, they train them, battle with them, live with them and experience hardship and happiness together.

But! Where there is sunlight…" he paused.

Mordred grinned, {there are shadows as well. So, although the majority are good, there are still some bad people. That is to be expected. There must be a balance of some sort. And this Rex kid, he's as strong as you say? To even have the martial god on his side.} He said with surprise and seriousness.

Marshadow was surprised, "How do you know about that name?"

Mordred chuckled slightly, {I have come to learn of many things through the memories of the winners of this little game of mine. naturally, they die, but their memories prove useful. I know about the legacy secrets of some races. And one as conspicuous as the god of combat cannot go unnoticed by strong ghost Pokémon.

That Pokémon though is said to know no bounds. It never stops growing stronger. To have raised such a monster, maybe your words speak the truth of the matter. And seeing how strong you have grown after losing your strength, I can see he is talented.

I wish I could have met him. Maybe even battled that four-armed brute by his side. But sadly, not only can I not leave, but my time in this life is coming to an end.} He said sadly. Instantly, Marshadow felt as if he was hit by a brick wall.

"W-W-What d-did you j-just say!" Marshadow stuttered any in disbelief.

Mordred didn't seem to mind, {I have reached the end of my life. I have been around for more than 1000 years kiddo. What did you expect? It is only due to the energy from this broken world, my legacy and my wish to see you one last time that have kept me going this long. Now that I have finally done everything and I have finally seen you one last time, healthy and strong with a family to call home. My wish is complete. Don't be sad, my life has been a bitter one, but I have not regretted any of my actions in sending you away.

Like I said all those years ago, I will live on in your memories. I will accompany you as you soar to new heights. And I will smile down at you when you have achieved your ambitions. Live, grow, enjoy and find happiness with those around you. There is nothing left here but broken bones and shattered dreams of a once hopeful future.} he said as he gazed over Marshadow's head and into the vast expanse of empty sky.

*DRIP* *DRIP* *DRIP*

Tears streamed down Marshadow's chin before slowly falling to the ground as he stared at his brother's blissful and free image. As if a massive burden had been lifted from his shoulders, the old, melancholic and depressed atmosphere that clung to his body previously, dissipated, and a youthful liveliness seeped out slowly, one last time.

His brother had finally been set free from the prison of his own body. For the first time, the shadow that covered his face dissipated showing the radiant smile that graced his face as his eyes gazed up. A small tear fell from his left eye as life, finally left his body.

A flashback sprang into Marshadow's mind.

---

"What do you want to do big brother?" a young voice asked as they gazed at the back of the figure atop a grassy hill.

{I wish to become the strongest in existence. Something you can look up to with pride. HAHAHA! A pretty good dream, right?} the figure laughed to himself.

---

Marshadow dropped to his knees in front of his dead brother as tears surged out of his eyes as a heart-wrenching pain assaulted his mind. The sadness was too much to hold in. he looked at the lifeless body still standing straight with so much pain and sorrow he felt himself falling into a pit of despair.

Then the voice he thought he would never hear again rang out, as he felt a palm grab his shoulder softly, seemingly pulling him out of the hell he was falling into. A sense of peace dawned upon him.

{I leave these fleeting words with you, baby brother. I lived this life with no regrets, I chose this chained life, to allow you to spread your wings. That is the role of a big brother, isn't it?

Whether it's in life or in death, I will always protect you, I will always be there to catch you when you fall. To be your guardian angel that illuminates your darkest nights. You will never be alone. Even if the world turns its back against you. Now, be free and unfettered, for life is grander than you can imagine. Do not live in the past. Do not cry over my death.

In this life or the next, I will always be there, as your big brother. Farwell.}

Under the Marshadow's distraught gaze, the body which was as straight as a pillar disintegrated into dust that flowed in the drifting wind before passing through the barrier and into the pitch-black darkness.

"You are free big brother. But on my life, I swear, the world will tremble under your name. And damn my soul to eternal suffering IF I DON'T PLUCK THAT FALSE GOD OFF HIS THRONE AND DRAG HIM THROUGH THE MUD!!!"

There was a rumble through the entire domain as the air began to shatter, the ground in every direction cracked and opened. It looked like the end of the world. On the castle's top floor, a massive green light began to shine as it slowly floated into the air.

Marshadow was full of wrath and fuelled by flames of vengeance.

He spread his arms open as he stared up at the infinite void with immeasurable anger.

"IN THE MEMORY OF MY BROTHER, MORDRED, LORD OF THE DOOM WALKERS, I VOW! HERE AND NOW! I WILL SWING DOWN THE HAMMER OF VENGEANCE UPON MY ENEMY OR DIE TRYING. IN THIS LIFE OR THE NEXT LET MY FOES TREMBLE UNDER MY POWER!" He yelled. A golden light seeped out of his body as he glowed like a second sun.

The ball of green and gold continued to expand as Marshadow grew and grew. He had grasped the legacy. But at the expense of his brother's tragic fate.

"This legacy is the last thing connecting me to my brother. Arceus, you should tremble and fear, hid your kids, hide your wife, for I am coming. Nothing you do, nothing you send, will stop me from ripping you to pieces." He growled as power seeped out of his body, it was so atrocious that it seemed to tear the fabric of the dimension apart.

He could use this to get out. Since this space restricted the legacy holder, he wouldn't be able to leave, but he observed that the world was incredibly weak and due to his evolution, it became unstable. maybe he could puncture through the weakened barrier and escape.
