4th gym battle

Rex didn't want to stay here for too long since the outburst of power from Arcanine's transformation might have attracted unwanted attention.

he spent some time waking up Oak who was deliriously rambling about a talking Machoke. Rex had directly deleted that part of the footage and told him it was all his imagination. he said that the pressure from the mega evolution was too much for him to handle and he fainted.

Rex got the system to delete anything extra and only left about 10 seconds of Arcanine in his transformed state before cutting the video. Oak who got the news was a bit disappointed but instantly cheered up as he looked over the incredible footage.

Oak "Thank you, Rex, this will be very useful to Professor sycamore back in Kalos. He also said that you can keep the stone, as a token of appreciation."

Rex was ecstatic at the revelation since he was worried he would have to give the stone back.

Rex "thank you, professor, do you need me to send you back?" he asked.

Oak "no, this time I brought one of my old pals from my trainer days. Pidgeot here will take my back." he said as he held a Pokeball with a warm smile. Rex had nothing more to say and got on his boat before leaving. Oak could be seen quickly flying back to pallet town with a wide smile.

Rex called out Machoke since he would spend every waking moment training aura from now on. They both sailed off to Cinnabar island where Rex would be taking on Blaine and his fire types.

He was thinking of using Scyther for this battle since he didn't really participate much, plus his initial plan of using mega Arcanine went out the window with the whole legacy revelation. Onix and Scyther were both approaching the time to evolve, and Rex was only waiting on the materials that would be delivered one week from now.

The return journey was uneventful, aura training was all they did since they were in a hurry to complete it for Machoke's evolution. No battles were commenced since every Pokémon could sense the power coming off from Machoke. It was done purposefully since Machoke didn't want to be interrupted by some arrogant blind Pokémon.

The next day, the light rain sprinkled on Rex's face as he stared at the island, he had only left a few days ago. He was happy to arrive though; he had been side-tracked from his gym battles for a long time.

As he arrived on the docks and tied the boat to the pier masterfully, he noticed two old men gaping at the sight. He wondered what they were looking at but decided to ignore them before walking towards the hotel where he would be checking in for the night. He was planning on leaving the next day since he still had a good few gyms to go through. His Pokémon were getting increasingly stronger, and they would face less of a challenge the more time went on.

He only walked until he discovered an alleyway where there was no one present. He summons his road bike, jumped on it, and sped towards the gym. He knew where it was but if Blaine didn't know he had a challenger, he wouldn't be there waiting.

He soon spotted an old man with a wig who Rex instantly recognised as Blaine. He stopped his bike just in front of him and took off his helmet.

Rex "Oi! Blaine, stop pretending that disguise works and meet me at your gym," he said before putting his helmet back on and speeding towards the hot springs at the riddle inn. That was where the entrance to the gym was located.

Blaine who was minding his own business was startled when he was discovered out of nowhere. When he turned around to see a young man calling him out, he was surprised before starting to laugh madly.

Blaine "The boy really thinks he knows where the gym is when I haven't even given him a clue, damn these youngsters, so impatient. But how did he know it was me though?" he asked himself before heading to his personal entrance to the gym. He would go there anyway just in case but he doubted the boy would show up.

Rex had just arrived at the inn and walked through the sliding doors and into a wide room with a desk. At the desk, there was a man in a white shirt, red vest and black dress pants who was typing away on the keyboard.

Rex "Good afternoon, I would like to reserve a room for the night, also give me access to the hot spring please," he said with a smile. The young man looked up and saw Rex before nodding and continuing to type away on the keyboard.

Receptionist "All done, please have a lovely stay," he said with a smile before ignoring Rex. He wasn't fazed by the treatment and walked towards the hot spring. He was going to battle Blaine before taking a nice relaxing dip in the hot spring with his Pokémon. They had earned it after all the work they had been doing on a regular basis.

As soon as he got to the bathing section, he walked into the men's area which was oddly empty. He didn't mind since it was for the best and stared at the statue that was off to one corner. A statue of an Arcanine to boot. He walked up to it and tapped around before finding a button in its open mouth.

He smiled and pressed it which set off a small rumble before the statue moved to the left revealing a stone staircase leading downwards. He didn't hesitate to walk down and soon came across an underground area that opened up into a battlefield with fire everywhere. The heat would make it hard for some people to think straight and if the battle is prolonged, dehydration could occur. It was a smart tactic. But it was ineffective since he covered himself in aura.

As he continued to walk forward, he saw Blaine sitting by a rock petting his Arcanine's mane happily. When he noticed a newcomer, Blaine looked up before revealing a face full of shock.

Blaine "H-How did you know where the entrance was? I'm sure I have never met you before," he said with certainty.

Rex "Correct we have never met, but it wouldn't be so hard to figure out, all I had to do was find someone who knew the location of the entrance to the gym. I'm surprised you didn't think of that?" he said truthfully.

Blaine started to laugh heartedly before nodding his head.

Blaine "very smart, that was also an option, I didn't bother to change it since that also proved that you had some brains in your head," he said with a chuckle. Rex nodded, he didn't really care, either way, he was here to get the gym badge.
