Ji Anning was too afraid to think further. Staring hard, she looked at Ji Chicheng who was already standing before her.

It was as though a layer of frost froze on his stern face, making him frightfully biting. Worst still was the malice flashing in his dark eyes, which chilled her to the marrow.

Biting her lip, Ji Anning lowered her head, as she waited for her demise.

So be it. They might as well find out and chase her out of the Jis completely to put an end to the suffering in her heart.

Right now, she neither felt like considering her future nor the fate of her convalescing parents and was too powerless to think.

As though detecting Ji Anning's fear, Yang Danning hurried to explain, "Your mom called to say you haven't gone back yet. Since I didn't dare tell her you went back on your own, I just said we were together. After hanging up the call, I came out looking for you immediately. Thinking that I should get all the help I could get, I called your little uncle over too."

On hearing this, Ji Anning promptly raised her head in excitement and surprise as her previously dim eyes instantly lit up.

It was as though she got resurrected.

Under the lights, gazing at Ji Chicheng's gorgeous face, his features became even more defined while his outline became particularly distinct and severe.

With coldness in his eyes, he looked at her deeply as usual, making it impossible to surmise the thoughts that were going through his mind during this time.

Yang Danning failed to notice the look in Ji Anning's eyes. Looking at her all dripping wet in the pitiful state she was in, she reproached her with a prick in her heart, "What were you doing? Are you stupid? Don't you know how dirty the fountain water is?"

Ji Anning felt a twinge in her nose. Without saying a word, she reached out to hug Yang Danning.

It was wonderful to have caring friends, giving her a hug and some warmth at times like this.

Standing by the side, Ji Chicheng looked on coldly without a word.

No one noticed veins on the back of his hands that were already popping out as he clenched them tightly by the side of his legs.

To date, the most excruciating thing on earth was suppressing his feelings for her.

Yang Danning gently patted Ji Anning on her back. Because of the pang in her heart, she said slightly nasally, "You bad girl. You're soaked. Don't come near me."

Despite saying so, she embraced her more and more tightly.

"Oh yes," suddenly recalling something, Ji Anning got anxious. Raising her eyes to look at Ji Chicheng, she asked softly, "How did you know I was here?"

Up to now, even she had no knowledge where she was. How could they find her?

"Ji Jingfeng gave me a call telling me you were crying here and refused to go. He asked me to come and persuade you," as Yang Danning spoke, she gently pushed Ji Anning away to give her a once over before asking, "What happened? Why are you here? Did you quarrel with Ji Jingfeng?"

Lowering her head, Ji Anning bit her lip, not knowing how best to reply.

At the sight of her like this, Yang Danning got even more worried, "Say something. Did that fella Ji Jingfeng betray you?"

Ji Anning shook her head, "It's not that. He didn't let me down. We only got into a little fight over something else."

If she and Ji Jingfeng did not get into an argument, it was unjustifiable for her to be in this state.

Since Yang Danning was no fool, she was aware Ji Anning merely replied to gloss things over.
