~[Random Elroe Budhefrog]~

"Grrr..." A loud rumbling resounded through the surroundings as an unusually pigmented boulder stirred awake.

The partially submerged boulder suddenly rose from the lava, sending magma waves as its immaculate physique was revealed to the world.

The Budhefrog scratched its ass as it felt some annoying thing attached to one of his cheeks.

He looked down to see what had dared to annoy him to such a degree.

His annoyance only grew as he realized it was just some kind of rocky outcrop, which wasn't too unusual since magma became solid when cooled, but he was still annoyed since it would be such a pain in the ass to remove, literally.

Such a mood, the Budhefrog was.

The old Frog snorted in indignation before standing up on both legs and strolling up the lava stream, the magma crashed and waved around as it made a path for the monstrous Goliath.

The Elroe Budhefrog had a vaguely humanoid figure that stood upright in its posture, dry blueish skin covered its.. skin and a pair of bright yellow eyes adorned its head like a crown, swaying from side to side as they observed the surroundings.

Elroe Geafrogs immediately started swarming around the old Frog, presenting the elder with various offerings, such as food, shiny rocks, and their unfertilized eggs!

The Budhefrog ignored his lesser kin.

He knew it was hard enough to survive here in the Middle Stratum alone, and he was willing to extend his hand to these younglings for the high price of nothing, as any elder should.

What a defined Gentleman.

"Grrroak~!" He released an elderly croak to the young Geafrogs as they spun in a circle around him whilst croaking back in response.

"Croak!"

"Croak!"

"Chirp!

"Croak!"

A myriad of noises resounded through the Stratum as the Geafrogs greeted their venerable senior.

"GRROAAAK!!!" The Budhefrog croaked back.

He then left the Frog army to their own devices as he continued searching for food.

With the departure of the great elder, the Geafrog army quickly disbanded as they returned to their own daily lives.

The Budhefrog leaped from stone to stone as his massive form traversed the burning Stratum with speeds not anyone would expect from such a Behemoth.

Pools and ponds of magma bubbled as the giant Frog stomped over them with little care in his steps as he smelled the unique scent of... Humans...

The old Frog instantly willed his Stealth, Silence, and Camouflage Skills to activate. One might be surprised as to how the Budhefrog could have gotten such esoteric Skills...

Well, let's just say... An old friend had educated him on the matter.

Though 'Friend' wasn't really an appropriate term for that... For that... Abomination. He would rather die at the hands of some runt than relive that traumatic encounter...

"...gusting! Thank God those creepy crawlies can't live in this Stratum." A girl adorned with the religious robes of the Word of God said as she brushed her hazel-colored hair aside.

"Oh come one, Yaana! Don't tell me your afraid of some little bugs..." A ginger-haired man with striking emerald green eyes wearing the garments of a rogue said as he teased the woman.

"Hey! Little bugs!? What part of those GIANT centipedes was little!?" Yaana responded with an exasperated expression as she stared back at the man, daring him to continue.

"Quiet down there, Hawkin, Yaana! We're still in the Dungeon. you can't forget that...!" A tanned man with a muscular physique somehow shouted quietly towards his two younger party members with a brisk and stoic tone.

"Yes, master." Unexpectedly, the man with the roguish appearance, which was Hawkin, stated with a brisk tone that matched his teacher.

"Hn... Sure, sure." Yaana responded to the man, who was called Jeskan.

This was the Hero's party, but the question was... Where was the Hero?

"Man, this Stratum is definitely way too hot, I'm burning here..." A man wearing golden armor and equally golden hair said as he crossed his arm behind his head. This was Hyrince Quarto, the Hero's Shieldbearer.

His statement wasn't too far of though, since if not for the specially-made cloaks they had been wearing, they would have already started combusting by now.

"Such is the perilous environment of the Dungeon, my sirs." Said Goyef, who was an expert in the field of Dungeon exploration that had been hired to act as a Guide for the party.

"So Goyef... Do you know anything about the recent rise in Dragon activity?" At this question, everyone turned silent as they waited for a response.

The one who had asked this question was none other than the leader of the party himself, the Hero Julius.

There have been concerning reports of Wyrms acting strangely, not to mention the fact that Dragons have started to roam the Dungeon more often, even those who were usually very territorial.

In fact, there have just been more Dragon specimens discovered in the Dungeon... It's getting to quite a concerning amount, really.

Goyef had an unreadable expression as he considered the question. He led the way as he held a Spyglass in his left hand, such a tool was essential when you were in the Dungeon. A torch would also have been vital were it not for the fact that they were in the Middle Stratum.

"I... I think they're being driven out by something-" His voice was abruptly interrupted as the party witness a glistening azure light blitzing past them.

"๐€ ๐‡๐ž๐ซ๐จ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ž...!" A deep yet oddly androgynous voice resounded through the surroundings as the azure light hung above them, climbing upon the ceiling.

"There! The Nightmare's Horror!" Julius shouted loudly as his party members quickly pulled out their respective weapons.

The Horror watched the amusing Humans from above, its lesser kin had tried to hunt these Apes... The little one believed doing so would actually please their Mother.

It knew better and had educated that fool on the matter. T'was not the time for the Hero's demise.

The amused Horror stated as it released an eerily child-like laugh.

Julius was surprised by this statement, his armor was made from the remains of a certain Greater Wyrm carcass, and to his knowledge... The Horror shouldn't know anything about that.

The Horror resembled a regular Taratect in appearance, but it was as if its entire body had been burned to nothingness as it was covered from head to toe in a strange fire-like blue energy that had replaced all its flesh.

Only its 8 eyes had retained their original red coloring, yet they felt... Strange, alien even.

"Horror! Come down here and fight like a man, why don't you!?" Hyrince provoked the Monster.

"๐ˆ'๐ฆ ๐…๐ž๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ๐ž~" The Horror simply responded, eager for the Hero's reaction.

No one laughed.

"Horror, we didn't come here to disturb you! We came to investigate the Dragons-" The Hero's words were shortly interrupted as a clapping sound was heard.

-Clap~!

The Horror clapped her two front legs together as a soft rumble resounded through the Stratum.

-Crash...!

Immediately, a crashing sound was heard as the rumbling got louder and louder.

And then, from the darkness, a gigantic bipedal frog appeared in the Hero's path its eyes glowed a menacing blue.

The Budhefrog no longer had any sense of self as his eyes lacked their previous wisdom, he raised his hands like a puppet and roared as an army of Geafrogs rushed in behind him, they're eyes shared the same blue glow.

"Shit...!" Hyrince cursed as he repositioned his Shield.

"Watch out, everyone!" Jeskan shouted as his Rogue apprentice readied his knife and the Saint positioned herself in the back, ready to cast any Spells.

"๐‡๐š๐ฏ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ง ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐จ๐ฅ๐ ๐œ๐ซ๐จ๐š๐ค, ๐‡๐ž๐ซ๐จ~" The Horror stated before disappearing back into the darkness.

Julius steeled his mind as he readied himself for the confrontation against the Frog army.

"GROAKKK!!!" The Budhefrog released a loud roar-like croak as the wave of Geafrogs rushed to the Hero's party like an endless tide.
