Chapter 16

Kimo told Dylan how to add wood to the stove, and he stocked it well. They fell asleep hugging and woke at two A.M. The fire was out, and they made slow love, returning to sleep with Kimo spooning Dylan.

The next morning, the guys lounged in bed, watching the snow still falling and gathering.

“Kimo, do you know what serendipity is?”

“What, you think this hot and sexy Hawaiian boy don’t know your fancy words?” He laughed and kissed Dylan. “Yeah, bro, I was thinking of that very word last night at dinner. I think that’s what brought us together. I feel a connection with you.”

Dylan whispered, “Thank you,” as he fought tears. 9

The guys had the continental breakfast at the motel lobby. Dylan was sort of afraid to venture to the restaurant in a vehicle. The snow was a few inches deep, but far more than he or Kimo were accustomed to, and besides, the police warned people to stay off the roads unless there was an urgency. They didn’t consider breakfast an urgency.
