1 Ring Doppelgänger-1

YGGDRASIL. A dive massively multiplayer online role playing game, aka DMMO-RPG.

It's story began twelve years ago when people decided to make a magical world of wonders where people could play and be legendary warriors or mages in order to forget about the literal toxic waste of a world that they lived in.

A world where everything was controlled by corrupt corporations while normal people had to work themselves to bone for the bare minimum. A world where going out without protective gear and a gas mask meant being poisoned at best or, and far more likely, death.

In such a world it was no wonder that people had absolutely loved YGGDRASIL. It was almost like a paradise.

And now it was ending.

Why am I telling you people this? And why do all of these sound familiar? Well the answer to that is somewhat… complex.

Long story but if I had to say when it started, it would be when I died.

I think you people can easily guess that this is an isekai story.

At least I wasn't killed in a cliche way like getting run over by a truck. Instead I got killed by a fruit. A coconut to be precise and before you people laugh your ass off I want to tell you that on approximately one hundred and fifty people are killed by coconuts each year.

After that I woke up in a very nice apartment room. It had everything: television, refrigerator, air frier, etc. but when I tried to get out by the door, I just ended up back in the room. As in the door lead to the window, window lead to the closet and closet lead to the bathroom. It was freaky, almost like a Scooby Doo chasing sequence.

I… I panicked. No other way of saying it. Fortunately I managed to calm down after a while and saw a note.

It told me that I was dead and that the VR system would allow me to play YGGDRASIL for the next twelve years. I would also get a certain amount of allowance that I could use in the game every month.

It seemed like a pretty good deal since I knew what would happen in the end of the game but my joy evaporated at the end of the note.

'If you join Ainz Ooal Gown or any other guild slash clan, we will send you back. Grind like you will have to battle Nazarick.'

That had been horrifying. Especially since I didn't know what they meant by 'sending me back'. It could be back to my old life… or wherever I was while dead.

I didn't want to find out so I just played the damn game for the next twelve years with obsessive drive.

The note said play like I will have to battle Nazarick so I decided that I wanted both power and flexibility in combat. I wanted a build that could do anything. Which was technically impossible. Except there had been a character that could do almost anything.

Pandora's Actor.

So I choose Doppelgänger as a race which after a certain level could also hide among human players. Very nice since that meant I wouldn't get PK'd much. Not to mention as a Doppelgänger I could have many different forms with different specializations. But there was a drawback to that flexibility, a level hundred Doppelgänger's forms were weaker than an actual level hundred build.

Fortunately, the answer to that problem was found after I had defeated a boss level monster.

Ouroboros.

It was probably the most broken World Item in the game along with Longinus that could erase players. Ouroboros had one simple ability, it could grant a wish. And the power of the wish was far higher than the super tier magic, Wish Upon a Star.

I had thought about wishing to be able to go over level hundred but devs were assholes so they would likely make everyone able to go over level hundred and I was trying to make a wish that would benefit only me. So I wished to get rid of my Doppelgänger race weakness. Meaning that each of my forms would be as powerful as a true level hundred player.

The devs seemed to even like it and said that I was pretty damn cool for not asking for a 'kill anything weapon' or a super edgy secret job class.

After that I kept playing. Unlocking new job classes, making new level hundred forms, using my money on cash shop items and using gacha. Lots and lots of gacha.

And now, here I am. Sitting in a virtual cafe in Midgard, waiting for the game to finally end and sent me to the new world. It had actually been a fun run for me. The game had been enjoyable and designing new forms were always a treat for me.

Even if I did make a few forms that were jokes.

Oh well, if I had only acted serious, things would have gotten boring very fast. Not to mention I would have gone down in a spiral of depression.

Hmm… I was no longer in Midgard. Instead of the small virtual cafe I was in a street corner. A little place that nobody would look while going on with their normal lives.

Though, the streets kinda looked familiar. Probably because all the streets in medieval fantasy worlds looked familiar.

I decided to just walk around, try to understand where I was. During my walks I also realized something I should have realized far earlier. I had an accessory that I didn't before.

A ring, one with a pitch black jewel on it. After realizing that, the screen that I had been familiar for the last twelve years appeared in my vision. Except now I also had one more bar under my MP bar, called SP.

And the ring on my finger… the name was less than spectacular.

'Legendary Ring'

No Rank, no rarity. Nothing. It sounded kinda familiar though and I realized why as I finally found the town's church.

A church of three heroes that is.

I was in an anime where the whole kingdoms were made out of morons.

And then I got a message. A little message box on the corner of my vision had a red mark on it. So I clicked it and read the message.

'You are now the Legendary Hero of the Ring. The four cardinal heroes were summoned a week ago. After the Waves end, Nazarick will appear as well. Prepare well.'

FUCK!
