Manta stood silently for several moments before nodding his head, "I suppose a Lantern would be a good field test.."

He looked over at Mesogog, "Plus I'll admit ruining Luthors day is a bonus in my book~" He said with a tone of amusement since while not having interacted with the man much his arrogance and superiority complex didn't exactly win him fans

the dinosaur smiled a dangerous, predatory smile.

"indeed" he said with delight.

"uggg i cant believe the principal acceded to this and even less we have to attend" a Latina girl with long dark brown hair said in frustration. she had olive eyes and light brown skin; wearing a long sleeve green crop top shirt and a long green dress with sleeveless straps on shoulders underneath. In addition, she was wearing light green hoop earrings, a green hat, a long green skirt with the Green Lantern Corp symbol pattern on the bottom, and green ballet shoes.

On her right hand was shinny green ring

"You said it Jess" close to her was a slightly older male with short brown hair and blue eyes wearing a green/grey shirt, greyish-blue jeans and sneakers. on his left hand he was wearing a similar green ring "but you heard what the director said..mandatory presence is mandatory"

"since when you care about rules Jordan?" asked the girl.

"since the principal threaten me to cut me from the team if i didnt assisted" the male called without a pause

The reply caused the girl to shake her head in exasperation before griping out loud, "How is it that I got assigned to you as my superior officer and trainer I still fail to fathom."

She stated with a flat tone and look as Jordan looked over at her, "I mean why aren't we both being trained by John Stewart?" She asked crossing her arms as she looked up into his eyes, "We should be both trainees, partners!"

She exclaimed throwing her arms in the air, "Instead i'm the sidekicks sidekick!" She said shaking her head in disbelief.

"hey! im no one´s sideckick thank you very much" Jordan said in superior tone "and Im your superior because i have more time wearing the ring than you cadet" finished the male.

"by just a year and in that time you havent even reached half point in the corp´s guide and rules" said the girl crossing her arms

Jordon frowned before the girl carried on, "Not to mention the stunt you pulled during the Thanagarian invasion that almost got us captured."

She added on sending him a scowl as the boy flinch still embarrassed of that particular mess up, "If it wasn't for my quick thinking who knows what they would have done to us." She said sternly pointing a finger in her face, "And i'm not only the rookie here but a pacifist!"

She exclaimed throwing her hands in the air, "I shouldn't even have been in the middle of a invasion..." She said with a disgruntled sigh while rubbing her head while she was choosing to embrace her role a bit more now wanting to make her own difference in the world, she still had doubts that the ring made the right choice

"sigh...ok one i know what you thinking so stop it...you...ehem...saved my life that day and allow us to be safe until the League beat the Thanagarians so give you more credit" he said "the ring choose you and you have prove plenty of time you deserve it" he said "sure you arent as awesome like me...but you are getting there" he finished with a boasting tone

Jessica or Jess to her friends rolled her eyes but let out a amused snort, "If you say so.." She said sending the arrogant idiot a smile he might have his flaws but she supposed he was a good guy and her idiot despite how frustrating he could be a times

Though she still let out a sigh, "I just think maybe i'm better suited to something else besides being a Green Lantern."

She said looking down at her ring before remembering the press conference she saw on the news and a question that had started to bubble around her head, "Hey Hal.."

Hal Jordan gave a blink as a arched a brow, "Yeah?" Jess raised her hand up, "You know that press conference Benedict Uno had?"

"HA you know i dont watch the news Jess" Hal said "specially if there is a game on" he laughed

Jess gave a blink before groaning face palming as she muttered to herself, "I don't know why I expected anything different."

She groused before dragging her face down and shooting her friend and green lantern superior/peer a disbelieving look, "You can't honestly tell me you haven't heard about it?"

She asked shaking her head, "It's the biggest news story of the year!" She exclaimed putting her hands on Hals shoulder to give them a good shake, "The CEO of KND toys outed himself as a meta and revealed his intention to run for president for crying out loud!"

She yelled shaking him by his shoulders, "You can't tell me you haven't heard about all this?!"

Jordan blinked.

"i think...maybe Stewart called me a few days ago telling me something about a new Meta-leader or something like that" he then remembered something "ohhhhh thats why he also asked me to keep an eye on Luthor to make sure no meta groups cause trouble"

"Arggh YES!" Jess yelled with frustrated tone at her blockhead of a superior, 'Seriously Hal have you been living under a rock?"

She said as she took a step back crossing her arms sending the man a look, "I mean we might be living through history if Mr. Uno wins the election." She said before pausing as what he said hit her fully, "And what was that about meta groups making trouble for Luthor?"

She questioned with a frown and slight irritation that rookie or not she was being left out of the loop in favor of Hal of all people

"something about pro and anti Luthor groups clashing in other cities...all have in common the Meta theme...apparently Luthor campaign is the total opposite to...how you call him...U-no?" he shrugged "eh...bottom line since Luthor is here and we are the only heroes around..."

Jessica frowned as she took all this information in, "This isn't good Hal.." She said shaking her head as the boy shot her a confused look causing her to sigh as she explain, "Mr. Uno is a big believer in meta human rights and wants to help meta humans use their abilities in other ways that don't include fighting crime or committing crimes."

She said with a slight tone of admiration at this as while not fully sure about the man she had to respect his goals and stated intentions she only hoped he was honest about what he said, "Not to mention he's pretty determined to stop meta humans from being exploited or used as weapons by anyone even the government."

She said as she crossed her arms frowning thoughtfully, "If Luthor really going the opposite extreme with his campaign. " And she was kicking herself big time for not paying more attention to the politics or current political climate after seeing that press conference, "Than he'd probably have every meta human registered at best.."

She looked up at him with concern, "Or at worst inducted into the government forces or imprisoned.." She said as she knew Luthors reputation as not just Superman's enemy but as the prime example of evil corporate greed if there ever was one even with the whole redemption angle he was trying to sell to the people

"And now you're telling me we might actually have to protect him." She said gripping her head she might be a pacifist but that didn't mean she was against the idea of creeps like Luthor getting their dues

"hey hey Jess breath" Jordan tried to call her "look im sorry, you know i dont get politics...and this was an order from upstairs you know it" he said "i dont like it either but is our job" he tried to said "plus its not like anything could happen...not with two lanterns on the job"

"Okay..okay..you're right." Jess said taking breaths to calm down, "We're green lanterns we can handle anything."

She said with a slight proud smirk before getting a look of disgust, "I just wish it didn't include protecting Luthor of all people." She said with a scowl

"same but we cant protest" said Jordan as he looked up at the stage "look like its starting" he said as Luthor got up and some applause started (by his own people and teachers more that anyone)

"thank you students for assisting this event" the principal said to the mic "i know everyone is excited to meet one of our country´s most prominent figures"

"yeah...if we talking about egomaniacs" Jess said making Hal chuckled

"a man with a vision wanting to left his dark past behind and move to a brighter future with everyone behind him.

"if want brilliance all he needs to do is let the sunrays hit his head" Jordan mocked back making Jess having to hold a laugh.

"here is it..the to-be president of the united states...Mr Lex Luthor!!!"

And low and behold the man of the hour walked up to the podium with his signature smirk, "Thank you, thank you." He said with a wave, "It gives me great pleasure to see the country's future."

His smirk widen, "And I say to you the future looks very bright indeed." Receiving some mixed applause in the process before holding up a hand, "Now I know many of you are probably wondering why I'm here?"

He survey the crowd of students who stared back at him with a mixture of expression ranging from positive, curious, and negative, "I"m here today because you ladies and gentleman are the future."

He gave a nod, "A future that sadly some would ignore in favor of those who would be considered more gifted do to their birth or blind luck granting them special abilities." He said with finger quotes on the last two words and narrowed eyes, "Well i'm here to assure you all that I will not allow that to happen on my watch."

"oh god" Jess couldnt help but put her hands on her head in irritation "did he really start there?"

"The future shouldnt be decided by those that only because they can fly they consider themselves above others...it should be come from you...the hard working students that fight everyday to become better and one day lead this beautiful nation"

"Yep.." Hal said with a blunt tone shaking his head, "I might not know much about politics but wow he really doesn't waste any time huh." He said with a slight undertone of annoyance considering he had some good friends who were meta humans

And while that didn't mean he wanted the "regular" or "normal" people left out or to feel overshadowed by meta humans that didn't mean he liked what he was hearing from baldy's mouth

"People could say that im being unfair or even retrograde" continued Luthor "but think about it...when has the meta population show any proof of wanting to do good? oh sure you can name any member of the so called justice league, but they are only a bunch against the hundreds of metas that use their powers to push others just because they think they deserve to rule over the normal folk"

Many of the students began to mummer with each other causing Jess and Hal to trade concern looks as the man carried on, "More and more meta humans reveal themselves to the world."

Luthor gave the students a dark intense look, "And more and more of them exploit their abilities by exploiting people like yourselves who are unable to defend themselves against their metal human abilities."

He shook his head in disgust, "Not only that meta's have started to form a belief that they are above the law." He glared, "And I say to you now that is not true!" He banged his fist against the podium, "Meta humans deserve to be prosecuted and held to the law just like all of us!"

that caused the murmurers to increase alongside some heads nodding.

"oh great now there are people agreeing with him" Jess said in frustration "seriously at this point i will take anything for this to end"

(not far on the other side of the crowd)

a portal flashed to life dropping Scorn-o-penta on the field.

"hahahahahahaha" the monstrous laugh called the attention of close by students.

"Monster!!!"

"run for your life!!!"

and with that the panic start with everyone starting to run.

"going so soon? the fun is just starting!!" the monster yelled before raising his arm and releasing multiple arcs of purple lighting that exploded the stadium bleachers.

the explosion finished alerting everyone of what was happening.

"Mr Luthor we need to go!!" one of the security called

Luthor scowled but while annoyed at the interruption a part of him was actually pleased as he had a feeling something like this would occur and it would only add more fuel to the fire and more evidence in the danger of meta humans.

Though he thought with a narrowed eyes at this particular "meta human" something about this thing felt off..no matter he thought with a shake of his head turning his attention to the security he'd look into what this thing was or where it came for later.

"Well don't just stand there!" He demanded in a growl scowling at the man, "Do you job and get me out here.." He said before nodding his head at the monster, "And while you're at it deal with that thing."

he said as he headed off under security guard while Hal and Jess traded looks with the latter sighing, "I really need to watch my big mouth."

Hal could only nod, "Yeah you'd think you'd know better than to taunt murphy like that." He said standing up as his and Jess rings began to glow green

Meanwhile Luthor forces moved with guns pointing at the monster.

"stay where you are freak!!!" one called.

"we have you surronded" another called.

however the Mummy theme monster only laughed.

"sorry mate..i think you might have smoked the wrong bush" he said opening his mouth and releasing some vapor cloud on the security.

"eh?"

"dont breath!!" one called.

"hehehehe" Scorn-o-penta laughed as his eye glowed "dont worry you dont need"

a flash of red.

and suddenly every guard was on the floor screaming in terror.

"ahhh get them off!!! get them off!!!

"no..you arent real...you arent real!!!"

"i didnt do it..i swear!!!!"

"stop laughing at me!!!!!"

The guards all screamed terrified at things only they could see as Scorn-O-Penta stood over their forms laughing, "Hehehahhahah!"

"Hey freak show!" Only to paused and see a blast of green light coming straight toward him with him quickly jumping out of the way glaring at the source which was Hal smirking down with Jessica floating beside him, "The worlds already got a enough loons without some wannabe Scarecrow running around."

He crossed his arms and shot the monster a cocky grin, "So why don't you make it easier on yourself and give up now.' He said though he was cocky he and Jessica were on guard especially after what they just witness this guy do to the guards

It reminding them both all too well of the stories they heard about Scarecrow fear toxin from Gotham only with out the gas it seemed

"hahaha well well well...i was expecting one but it seems i have two" the Monster said with glee "seems its my lucky day!"

"Expecting..' Jess repeated in confusing before scowling down at him, "Wait you were expecting us?" She demanded in confusion and also trying to fish for some information suddenly getting a bad feeling that Luthor wasn't the target but rather the bait

"hahaha you are quick sweat heart, now stand still so i can end you!!!" the monster called.

Hal wasnt impressed.

"pfff yeah right..you and what army?" he asked putting his ring hand up and ready to fight.

FLASH!!!

two portals flashed dropping a dozen Tyrannodrones around Scorn-o-penta.

Several silent moments passed before Jessica shot Hal a flat look, "Now who's taunting murphy?" She asked with annoyed tone causing Hal to give a sheepish smile and chuckle before Scorn-o-penta yelled out, "Alright Tyrannodrones bring me those rings.."

He commanded while he pointed at the two lanterns as the Tyrannodrones rushed forward, "They'll be a excellent prize for the master~"

"whoa!!!" Jess cried shooting to the sky evading the attack "uff good thing this guys dont seem to be able to fly" she said looking at the drones looking at her in anger.

and then pointing their scythe arms at her.

and shooting small burst of green energy at her

"ok i will stop talking now!!" cried the female green lantern as she tried to evade the shots

"Smart plan!" Hal yelled out as he also began to dodge and weave through the energy blasts, "Less talky more blasty!" He yelled pointing his ring forward sending blasts of green light straight back at the monster goons, "Always works for me~"

He said with a smirk as some of his blasts hit and Jesscia rolled her eyes and formed a green rope construct with her ring and swung it at two of the drones managing to loop and tie them together back to back before tugging and swinging them as hard as she could straight to the other drones

Hal then summoned a giant boxing glove using it to punch the ground sending a trio of drones airborne; only to quickly summon a shield to cover from more shoots from other drones.

Drones that were captured as Jess created a glowing green octopus trying to capture the most drones she could.

As this was happening some of the students turned around and began filming the battle alongside some of the new crews that were for the event.

"this is Lana Lang reporting for the daily planet...what started like a simply meeting for president candidate Lex Luthor have turned into a battlefield as a mysterious monster suddenly appeared facing against two of the city´s Green lanterns!!" a female reporter began narrating

Something that was noticed by the two Lanterns as they battled the drones with Hal unable to resist grinning and throwing a wave, "Hey folks make sure to get my good side~" He said with a smile only to feel a hit upside his head, "OW!" He yelled out as Jessica glared at him, "Focus!"

She snapped before sending the drones captured by her octopus construct tentacles flying straight into the walls as Hal rolled his eyes but sighed narrowing them as he noticed something, "Hey where's the big boss."

He said noticing the leader of these goons had disappeared

"Looking for me?"

suddenly two giant centipedes wrapped around the lanterns pinning their arms at their bodies.

both turned to see Scorn-o-penta (having transformed his arms into the giant bugs) who had moved behind them while they were busy with the drones.

"ew ew ew ok this is really creepy" said Hal not liking the sensation.

"hahaha then you wont like this either!" called the monster "going down!!!"

pulling both Lanterns found themselves crashing on the ground.

"going up!"

only to be raised again.

"going down!!!"

and smashed against the ground again

"and going OUT!!!" yelled the monster as arcs of electricity traveled through his arms shocking both lanterns

"ARRRG!" The two yelled in pain as they experienced a electric shock much to the horror of watching reporters with Lana staring in shock not to mention the watching viewers at home, "Hehe time to put these lanterns on the barby mate~"

Scorn-o-penta said with a dark laugh, "I'll be taking your rings and your corpses back to the big boss in no time~"

He said he kept up the electric current with Hal and Jessica gritting their teeth and yelling in pain as they tried to focus their willpower in their rings and point them toward the monster despite being restrained and in pain

"uggg...In brightest day, in blackest night" Hal started trying to work through the pain.

"No evil...shall escape my sight" Jessica continued in pain

"Let those who worship evil's... might" Hal opened his eyes looking at the monster in defiance.

"Beware my power" Jess followed suit

"Green Lantern's light!!!!"

Both cried sending their attack.

Hal light became a circular saw cutting the centipedes into pieces; while Jess became a beam of power that impacted the monster head on.

BOOM!!

"ahhhhhhhh!!!!" Scorn-o-penta cried in pain as the attack hit him head on (sending sparks out his body) and he was sent flying a good couple of feet away.

Both lanterns fell on their knees trying to recover their breaths (their bodies literally smoking) and trying to ignore the pain they were feeling.

"Argh..oh..you..bastards." Scorn-o-penta said with a groan as he began to pick himself up, "Alright mates.." He glared at the two smoking forms of the lanterns, "Now i'm really mad!"

His body began to glow with some energy as he stomped forward, "There's not going to be enough left of you to feed the dingos when i'm done!" He yelled as his eyes glowed red and like the with the guards there was a bright flash

KABOOM!!!"

Only this time the result was a BIG explosion of energy

all the observers fell on the ground for the expansive wave.

"The monster have release another energy attack!!!" Lana cried over the explosion "we cant see anything for the smoke..we can see if the lanterns managed to evade the..."

"look there!!!" one student cried.

there from the smoke one could see a green dome...dome that was cracking and fading away.

"uggg.."

"Hal!!!" Jess cried in shock seeing her partner standing in front of her...looking battered and seconds from falling...using all his strength to keep the dome around them.

"alert..energy down to 5%" the voice of Hal´s ring called.

"ugggg" the male lantern fell on the ground (the dome dissipating)

"Hal!!!" Jess cried approaching her fallen comrade.

"uggg...hey dont worry...i just need my second breath" Hal said in tired tone "then...i will..make quick work of that bug"

Jessica shot him a look of concern while he shot her a weak cocky grin that quickly fell as a giant centipede wrapped around his neck

With it extending out from Scorn-o-penta transformed left arm as Hal gasped out, "Make quick of me not likely mate~" He said before sending another electric blast current straight toward the already down Hal, "HAL!' Jessica yelled and tried to intervene only to be blasted back by Scorn-o-penta sending another though smaller energy blast from his eyes

While also turning his attention to Jesscia as he continued to electrocute Hal, "As for you sheila~" He let out a dark laugh, "Let's give you a taste of real fear!" He exclaimed before opening his mouth and sending out a large blast of vapor cloud that headed straight to Jessica at a fast pace

the female lantern covered her mouth. But then she noticed this wasnt smoke..it felt more like an aerosol in spray as she could feel something wet and a bit sticky hitting her skin.

But before she could try to understand the eye of the monster glowed red.

and the next she knew was darkness.

"wha..what?" Jessica awoken in a dark space. "what happened." she looked around in confusion. suddenly she felt movement on her hand. "what the..." and then her ring slipped off transforming her back to normal "Kyaaaa!!!" or almost as she found herself naked "whats going on here?!!!" she cried in embaressment as she fell on her knees trying to cover herself.

then she noticed her ring floating inches from her.

she tried to grab it but...

"subject...not worthy" the voice of the ring called as the ring floated away.

"w-what?" Jess called in shock.

"subject...not worthy" the ring repeated floating around the girl.

"what you mean?!" Jess called in shock

"Why? if he is only saying the truth" Hal´s voice sounded as the guy walked from the darkness "its just as you said Jess...you are not worthy"

"What..Hal?!" Jessica exclaimed in fright and shock, 'How can you say that?!" She demanded with tears streaking down her face before whirling her head at another voice, "Because we all know it's true."

She saw John Stewart stepping out of the shadows glaring at her with crossed arms, "We all know that ring should have never gone to you." He shook his head in disgust, "One of the most powerful weapons in the universe against evil in the hands of a pacifist."

He let out a snort of disdain, "Ridiculous."

"No..I..." Jess tried to explain.

"if you cant fight what good you are?" called Hal "how can you defend others if you cant even fight when its needed?"

"Im trying..."

"trying is not enough" John interrupted with a harsh tone "YOU are not enough"

"no"

"you are a coward.

"a disgrace"

"please...no"

"please...stop...please...please" Jess fell to the ground crying in desperation.

(Outside.)

"alert will power diminishing" the voice on Jess ring called as the green and black uniform of the girl began "dusting away"

"hehehe ahh is the pour girl crying?" Scorn-o-penta mocked grabbing Jess by her hair and pulling her until her feet were dangling over the ground.

"uggg...Je...Jess" Hal called weakening trying to stand up only to fall again.

"hahahaha dont worry...all will be over soon" the monster called as he moved a hand towards the girl´s hand to take away her ring "i just will take this..."

FLASH!!!!!

that was all he could said before another green energy beam hit him and forced him to release the girl

"ahhhh!!!" the monster staggered "who was the funny guy?!!!" he yelled in anger looking up.

and turning to see a MAD ANGRY John Stewart looking down at him with hate while his ring glowed in green flames.

"Buddy.." John said in a absolute flat tone that screamed pissed off, "you've just made a big mistake." He stated simply before sending a large blast of energy straight at the monster

"RAHHHH!!!"

who answered with a energy blast from his eye

both attacks met in the middle causing a great explosion.

"uggg...J..Jess!" Hal called crawling to the crying girl "come on Jess wake up!" he cried in worry noticing the tears on her eyes and her disappearing suit "come on girl!! you always sermon me about secret identities and now you are about to lose yours!!"

in that moment a green lantern battery fell close to him.

"Jordan charge up and take her to safety!!!" cried John before charging into the smoke

Hal gained a serious look on his eye as he nodded with a dark frown and started to repeat the lantern oatyh as fast he could while holding his hand up to the battery

Though Scorn-o-Penta noticed yelling with rage as he emerged from the smoke, "Hey mate no one said you could leave this bbq!" He screamed before raising his arms blasting out purple lightning straight toward Hal and Jess

With the energy hitting with a loud explosion causing him to laugh, "Hehe they're dingo chow now~" He said with a nasty laugh that stopped when he noticed a green energy construct shielding his targets

"WHAT?!" He shouted enraged growing only angrier when he realized construct energy stared right behind causing to whirl around as the barrier fell only to be blasted right in the face, "GAH!

His hands flew to his face missing John flying out of the smoke heading toward him like a enraged homing missile

Rahhh!!!!" the monster cried in anger releasing a lighting storm against the older green lantern who made a shield to cover as he continue his charge.

seeing a chance Hal took Jess in arms and quickly flew away.

"one of the lanterns is leaving!" Lana Lang cried "he seems to have someone in arms...it seems to be the girl Lantern and she dosent look good" she called as the camera tried to followed them only for the cameraman having to cover at a new explosion "Green Lantern of the Justice league has appeared to help his fellow lanterns and now he is facing the creature."

BOOM!!

A large explosion went off in the background causing Lana and the cameraman to focus back on the battle

Watching as GL and the monster were now grappling against each other in a furious struggle as energy swirled around them, "I'm going to tear off your head and bring it to my master!"

Scorn-o-Penta yelled enraged glaring into Johns eyes as the Lantern gritted his teeth

"yeah thats...not going to happen" said the green lantern creating a giant pincer capturing the monster before raising it on the air before smashing him in the ground.

"Argh!.." The monster yelled in pain and anger as John started to slam inti the ground over and over again

"you miserable dingo...agg...put me down!!!" Scorn-o-Penta yelled releasing another energy explosion forcing John to release him.

(Meanwhile)

Hal reached the roof of one of the buildings close to the school and set Jess in time for her suit to disappear (leaving her in her normal clothes and some bruises) and her ring to slip off her finger with a clink sound.

"Jess...come on girl dont scare me like this!!" he called hearing more explosions from the school "come on Jessica...John needs us girl" he said feeling more and more worry as the girl wasnt waking up and the tears on her eyes kept falling

"Jess come on girl this isn't funny." He said with a note of desperation in his voice as he tried to figure out a way to snap the girl out of it, "Come on whatever that creep did I know you're strong enough to handle it!"

He gently shook her by her shoulders, "You're a Lantern and Lanterns never give up!"

Thats when he noticed Jess was covered in some-sort of sticky juice.

"What?...wait...could it be.." looking around he noticed a water tower near by. "ok you can scold me for this later" he said before shooting a beam at the tower causing water to spill out into the girl.

Hal held a breath as the water began cleaning the juice away.

slowly the face of the girl began relaxing and her eyes slowly began to open.

"H...Hal?" a tired and almost empty tone called for him

"Yes!" Hal cried smiling while feeling absolute relief, "It's me Jess you're going to be okay." He said in low comforting tone admittedly not his specialty but that didn't mean he knew when thing required a delicate touch.....well realized sometimes at least

"Yes..." Hal said with relief at her coming to but was shocked at the question, "Of course you are and you'll always will be." He said gently cupping his friends cheek feeling his anger raise at what that creep did to her

"sniff...I..." Jess began crying sadness overwhelming her.

"It's okay Jess..." Hal said in his best comforting tone, "Whatever that creep made you see it wasn't real." He wrapped his arms around her in a hug, "And you're without a double one of the best lanterns I know."

He said before adding with a cocky smirk, "You're almost as good as me~" Before laughing a bit, "Almost ~"

Shaking arms returned the hug.

"its cold Hal..." the girl said in weak tone "it was really cold....I...im afraid" the girl cried slowly falling sleep out of mental tiredness

"Shh...shhhh." Hal whispered out his arms around his friend, "It's okay Jess I'm here..." He said with a worried frown, "Remember willpower always beats fear everytime."

Another explosion made Hal remember they still have a monster to deal with.

"you rest Jess...i will take care of things" he said with a decided tone putting her ring on her hand before standing up eyes glowing in anger.

"Hahahahaha" Scorn-o-penta laughed in delight as he had his centipede arms around a green bubble shield with John inside "hide all you want little mouse i will smash you like a hamster wheel!!!" he said sending shocks of energy against the bubble.

"urrggg" John grunted as he kept his focus keeping his shield up

while also trying to figure out a plan of turning the situation back on his favor and making this dirtbag learn the hard way why you don't hurt fellow Lanterns on his watch.

All while Scorn-o-penta could only laugh and gloat as he considered his attack, "Hahahaha this is great!" He shot a evil grin at John, "Once i'm done with you i'll track down your mates and give what's left their carcasses to the dingos while presenting my master with all of your rings!"

Than he threw his head back laughing, "Three dead Lanterns and a founding Justice Leaguer to boot he'll be so pleased!"

He said with triumphant tone only for his laughter to stop as a green energy construct wrapped around his head and mouth gagging him, "It's about time someone shut you up mate!" Hal said in a angry mocking tone before pulling Scorn-o-penta back as hard as he could

"woah woah!!!!" the monster cried in surprise forcing himself let go of John.

before being smashed against the score board of the field.

Hal however was not going to let him rest as he constructed a giant hammer and use it to smash the board and the monster with it.

"Ahhh!!!" Scorn-o-penta stood angrily and released a torrent of lighting against Hal.

"RAhhhhhhh!!!" in his rage he used his ring to construct a literal bus that ran through the lighting smashing the bug creature.

and continue driving until it crashed on the street next to the school tearing it appart.

"ugg you think that...will stop me?" Scorn-o-penta stood up shaking a bit.

Only to noticed FOUR FIGHTING JETS AND MISSILES all pointing at him.

"ah...bugger!"

"Hal wait!!!" John called trying to stop Jordan but the young Larntern wasnt in the mood and send his constructs against the monster.

The explosion shook the ground as a giant fireball dispelled from the impact zone.

Hal descended breathing hard as burning pieces of the monster began raining down

Hal took several deep breaths scowling at first before his eyes widen as he realized horrified what he just did, "W-what...what have I done?" He asked in a low whisper because this creep might have just been some deranged lunatic but he still just broken one of the most sacred vows of a hero and crossed the line....he had just killed someone

And all he could do was watch as his remains rained down all around him in a shocked state

(Meanwhile at Mesogog´s lair)

The saurian was on his chair watching the screen alongside Black manta and Llyod.

The sea pirate and the thief from Gotham were quite amaze (although Llyod was more terrified) at the power the creature had managed to subdue two of the Lanterns almost with no troubles.

sure when the older lantern (and funding member of the justice league) swoop in and began actually giving Scorn-o-penta a fight it looked like the game was over. only for the monster to actually put Green Lantern on the defensive.

and of coarse it was the end when one of the younger lanterns returned..and actually delivered a killing blow.

"well, who would thought that young man actually had it on him" said Mesogog in mocking tone (confounding Llyod as the saurian didnt even looked angry at his monster failure) "I thought if someone would give a killing blow that would be Steward"

"Indeed a surprising show of ruthlessness from the young lantern." Black Manta stated in a even tone before Llyod piped up, "Yeah but it's clear that the kid isn't handling it very good."

He said looking at the screen with slight shock and fear a part of him couldn't help but imagine himself in the monster place causing him to pale at the image as he once again realized/remembered just how outclassed he was in this game of monsters and gods, "And I betcha you the boyscout league ain't going to be to happy with him either."

He said trying to put his mind off those fears as he let out a snort of amusement with Manta giving a hum of acknowledgement before focusing his attention on Mesogog, "I'll admit the creature put up a worthy fight and my interest is.....sparked."

He said with a slight pause before carrying on in a dark tone, "But if any other monsters you make will be on the same level on the first than we've seen that they'll stand no chance against the League if the heroes are backed into a corner."

He gestured at the screen showing the image of Hal falling to his knees in shock, "That lantern from my information is basically just a rookie operating for barely a year.." He shook his head, "And your monsters was just blown to bits by him."

Much to their surprise Mesogog stood with a sneaker coming out him.

"hehehe oh? is that so?" he asked as he began walking towards his console.

Llyod gulped...there was something about that tone he didnt like.

"Ehhh sorry boss but he is right" he couldn't help but say "I mean...he gave good fight but now...its all over the floor..literally!"

the saurian simply let out a small laugh.

"ohhh how wrong you both are" he said in playful tone "and Llyod you should know by now im a fan of giving..second chances" he added "this is not the end...we are just halfway of the show...now come the real fun part" he added pushing a lever up.

Everyone was so distracted by the monster destruction and Hal´s little crisis that none noticed a small glowing ball being shoot into the air.

they did however noticed the sky suddenly darkening by storm clouds.

and the followed rain falling on them.

Another thing some also noticed were the parts of the fallen monster glowing purple, melting down, come together.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

and EVERYONE noticed the sudden return of the monster...since it was now 20 STORIES HIGH

"YOU ARE IN BIG TROUBLE NOW MATES!!!" called Scorn-o-penta from his new height

The citizens stared in horrified shock for a moment before screams pierced the air, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

"EVERYONE RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!" A woman screamed grabbing her child in desperate attempt to get away from the giant monster

And as the citizens all fled Hal could only stare in a stupefied shock as he whispered out, "He's alive.." Staring with wide eyes that only got wider as Scorn-o-penta began to attack the city, "Oh crap he's alive!"

He yelled out taking off into the sky and trying to draw the monsters attention away from the city and citizens by blasting at him, "Hey bug creep remember me!" He yelled flying up to his face, "I'm the guy who blew you up! He yelled sending a blast of energy straight at his face

the beam hit him directly but it was like he used a flashlight against a brick wall.

"oh yeah..i remember" said the creature "let me RETURN THE FAVOR!!!" he called before swapping Hal like a fly out the sky and through a couple of skyscrapers before ending on a crater in the street

"AAAAAAHHHHH!" Hal screamed out all the way before crashing on the ground where he weakly groaned, "Argh..okay.."

He stumbled up rubbing his head, "Guy's not only bigger but hits harder." He stated as he stumbled forward, "But...I can still take him."

Scorn-o-penta turned to the school.

"good news...free day!!!" he cried shooting his lighting attack at the school (and everyone that was still there)

only for a giant brick wall to cut the attack before it could reach.

"grrrrr...everyone out of the building and go away!!!" Called John steward as he kept the wall up as the monster kept shooting

"You heard the man run children!" Yelled a teacher as the staff and students fled as far and fast as they could while John gritted his teeth trying to hold up the barrier while placing his free hand onto a communicator in his ear, "Green Lantern toward watchtower priority alpha situation and I could use some back up."

"John this is Wonder Woman" he heard back "Me, Flash and J'onn are on our way" she called from a Javelin traveling as fast as they could towards Coast city.

"good thing we were seeing the news" said Barry looking at the live feed "if not i dont want to imagine when we would learn about this happening"

Same here.." John stated in a blunt tone while he held up the shield with gritted teeth glaring up at Scorn-O-Penta, "i'm going to try to keep the big guy distracted but you guys need to get here double time.."

He said in a hard tone though first he he had get a chance to drop the shield safely without getting hit by a attack

The chance came soon

"AHHHHH" an explosion on his back stopped the creature.

"HEY UGLY!!" Hal called materializing multiple rocket launchers "WE ARE NOT DONE!!!" he called shooting multiple missiles that actually caused the giant monster to stagger

"Arggh!" Scorn-o-penta yelled out in slight pain before giving a growl, "Alright mate that's it.." His eyes began to flash as he opened his mouth, "Time to give the whole city a taste of real terror!"

He yelled before shooting out some of the fear vapor from earlier engulfing the two lanterns and a great portion of the city in the process

"oh crap!!!" Hal cried remembering what this could do "find water now!!!" he cried at John as he flew as fast as he could towards the school hoping he can reach the pool or the water tank in time

And as he did so the vapor engulfed and began to infect the citizens of coast city

"AAAAH STAY AWAY!" A little boy cried rushing out toward a incoming car which barely managed to swerve and avoid him in time only for the driver to jump out rolling while screaming out, "It's under my skin, IT'S UNDER MY SKIN!"

"FOR ALL THATS HOLY SOMEONE HELP ME!" A hysteric woman screech in pain rolling on the ground, "PLEASE THE FIRE IT BURNS!"

"Coff..coff.." A policemen who had been directing panic civilians away from the battle was coughing out before his eyes grew wide with fright as he saw himself surrounded by thanagarian, "No..no..NOT YOU BIRD FUCKS AGAIN!"

He yelled before pulling out his gun and began to fire at the thanagarians not realizing they were the same panic citizens he was trying to direct away earlier

But a green shield was put between them and the bullets.

"grrr...its not...uggg real!!" John cried as he knocked the gun out of the police arm...while at the same time he tried to fight off the illusion he himself was having.

"you should have see it coming...why i would want to be with someone like you?...you were just a puppet for me to play" the form of Hawkgirl taunted him

John gritted his teeth trying to ignore the words and the image, "You're not real.." He said to Hawkgirl who only laughed cruely, "Just like our relationship~"

She said smirking evilly at him, "Face it you failed me, you failed this world when my people came..." The image of Hawkgirl looked around at all the screaming people, "And now you're failing these people~"

(meanwhile at the school)

"uggg my head" said Hal as he began to wake with water hitting his face "oh man where..." he blinked noticing he was in one of the school´s bathrooms...with water of a broken sink falling on him...and there was a big hole on a wall. "oh yeah i managed to reach the school when everything turn dark..." he looked at the destroyed bathroom "good thing i fell on the sink and not..." he turned to a toilet and shivered "wait..where is" he put his ring up "John can you hear me?!!! John?!! please tell me you are ok?"

However to his worry the ring remained silent with John not responding to the communication which meant best case scenario he was too busy fighting for his life against that monster...while worst case was...

Hal gave a growl punching the wall of the bathroom stoll, "Fuck!" He scowled, "I'm not about to let some overgrown bug with a stereotype accent beat us!"

He said before his body began to glow and he took off straight toward a source of water

Good news...they were in COAST city so a source of water was quite close.

bad news the bug was still active bringing buildings down and downright enjoying the cries of terror coming from his gas victims on the streets

"Hehe what's the matters mates." Scorn-o-penta said as he stomped through the city giving one building a good punch, "you look like you've all seen a pack of dingos!" He yelled laughing at all the fleeing citizens who were like ants to him now

"God dammit" said Hal in frustration. only good thing it was that the creature was going the opposite direction from where he left Jessica.

with a growl the green lantern shoot in the direction fo the coast to collect the needed water.

at the same time from the same direction the Javelin began its approach to the city.

"Great Hera" Wonder woman said noticing the giant creature "from what hole of tartarus that thing came from?"

"A matter to address later." J'onn stated in a grave yet stoic tone as Flash piped up beside him, "Yeah kick butt now ask questions later." The speedster said with a frown, "I'll evac any civies in that things path." He added on before taking off in red blur

"Ok me and J'onn will..." in that moment she noticed the approaching green light "wait is that John?"

The eyes of the martian glowed.

"No its one of the young Lanterns..." he announced

"Wonder woman to green lantern can you hear me?" the amazon called through the open channel

Hal eyes widen as he received the transmission his communicator, 'Yes!" He yelled with a wide smile, "Oh gorgeous you have no idea how happy I am to hear your voice right now."

He said in a tone that was a mixture of relief and cocky flirt before getting a serious look on this face, "Please tell me that you've brought back up.." He asked his eyes going to Scorn-O-Penta, "And that the backup includes the Big S."

"unfortunately Superman is busy with an earthquake and possible eruption in Italy" said the amazon ignoring the flirt "it will have to be only us and you to deal with that monster"

Hal groaned he wasnt sure if they would be enough to stop that creature but he suppose they could try containt it until they got actual firepower to take it down.

"I hope you are right...but now we need to hurry, one of us is down and im not sure if the old man lantern is ok" he said creating a giant watering can with his ring and plunder it into the sea bellow

Wonder Woman and J'onn traded concerned looks at this while taking off into the air after the monster, "Have faith young warrior." Diana stated in a steel hard tone and narrowed eyes, "Stewart has been through worse than this.."

She said trying to assure Hal (As well as herself that John was alight), "It will take more than a mere giant to end him."

"I hope so" Hal called back "hey is the Flash with you?" he asked "i could use a tornado to carry the most water possible into the city as quickly as we can"

"Yes Flash is currently evacuating civilians." Wonder Woman replied back with a frown, "And while he should be able to assist you why do you require water."

She asked trying to gather information, "It's the creep he's got some kinda gas ability that works like that freak from Gotham fear gas." Hal explained flying up with his giant watering can heading off toward the city, "After he got big he spread it across the city but water seems to cure the affects."

He said with a frown as J'onn and Diana exchanged concerned looks before the latter tried to change the communicator line, "Flash.."

"I heard it..." The speedster stated in grim tone contray to his normally happy go lucky self, "And i've seen the results of this gas too." He stated from outside the city limits looking at the large group of civilians he managed to gather to safety so far but all of them screaming in fear at something only they could see

"And i'm on it.." He stated in a hard tone taking off toward the coast intent on giving everyone a nice relaxing bath to wash away the fear and trouble

"Ok Flash and Lantern will take care of the civilians while J´onn and I will try keep the creature distracted" Diana ordered "when you can join in and we will try to subdue it"

"Roger that.." Hal stated with a nod before looking over at the hundreds of screaming civilians as he sighed, "Alright people let's wake you up from your bad dreams." He stated before pouring the construct over the people hoping that this would still work

"ok lets test this beast" said Wonder Woman flying towards the giant creature and shooting a couple of missiles at it

Something that Scorn-o-penta certainly felt as they landed at the back of his head

"Argh what the?!" He yelled turning his head to glare at the source spotting the javeline, "Blimey this city got some big mosquitos.." He said with a dark laugh as his eyes glowed red, "Time to bring out the fly swatter."

He yelled sending out a blast of energy straight from his eyes right at the javelin

"WATCH OUT!!!" Diana cried giving a hard pull at the controls managed to evade the first attack.

"Rahhh!!!"

the monster roared sending a second shot forcing the Javelin to fly up almost in a 90º ascension

"Tricky little buggers aren't you." Scorn-O-Penta stated with a annoyed yet mocking tone, "Well if the fly swatter doesn't work than bring out the bug spray!" He yelled before shooting some of the vapor gas straight at the Javelin."

the spray hit the ship covering it in its sticky liquid which caused its motors to fail.

Alarms sounded inside the vessel (fortunately it was tight sealed so the liquid couldnt get in).

"time to face things more directly" called the Martian grabbing Wonder woman and turning intangible allowing them both out without risk of getting sprayed as the ship plunder and crashed against the city´s street

And landing in a fiery crash which Scorn-O-penta laughed at, "Hehe when in doubt always go for the bug spray~" He shouted not having noticed J'onn and Wonder Woman escaping from the javelin and whom were currently flying up straight toward the back of his head

"J'onn can you get anything from the creatures mind." Diana asked her friend flying beside her with a frown determined to take the chance to gather any information they could on this thing whether it be their origins or a weakness they could exploit

As the martians eyes began to glow trying to access the giant monsters mind

"uggg whatever that thing is is not natural" said the martian "I couldnt see much as something push me out but whatever that thing is came from a lab for what i could see"

At this piece of information Diana frowned as her mind immediately went to recent information the League learned, "Could this be the work of Cadmus than?" She asked in angered tone of rage looking up at the monster as she like the rest of her friends were well aware that what little they've learned of the organization did not paint a pretty picture

But to think a organization potentially sanction by the government of the country many of her friends called home would go this far endangering their own citizens and people to further their agenda enraged her

"Unsure...i couldnt see much but i think someone did send him here" said the martian

Diana at this frowned before shaking her head, "It matters not.." She stated with a growl as they flew up, "Whether it be Cadmus or someone else what's matters now is stopping their beast.."

Her eyes narrowed, "Addressing it's masters can come later." As they arrived at Scorn-O-Penta head trying to find a potential weak point to surprise attack him before they were noticed

"Eh? more bugs?" he cried "well lets get rid of this plague" he said trying to smash them with his hands but Jonn´s intangibility saved them.

"the only bug to be rid of its you monster!!" cried Wonder Woman being thrown at the monster´s face by J'onn delivering a good punch to him

"ahhhhh" he cried actually feeling the punch "uggg you miserable gnat" he cried trying to catch her but the amazon managed to evade the hand and land in one arm from where she impulse herself for another punch

"Hera give me strength!" She yelled before jumping up and taking off in slight zooming straight toward the monster face again this time managing to land a punch straight in his right eye, "ARG CRAKEY!"

He yelled before trying to swat at Wonder Woman in anger, "I'M GONNA SQUASH YOU GOOD!"

The amazon took off. and grabbed her lasso before trowing it and wrapping it around the monster´s writs.

"J´onn!!!" she called.

the Martian appeared at street level and flew at high speed towards Scorn-o-penta´s leg, trasforming himself into a bulky rhino-like alien before smashing himself against the the knee of the monster

"Argh..damn pesks!" He said trying to use his free hand to slam down on top of J'onn to squash the transformed martian while struggling to pull his other wrist free from the lasso in wonder woman grasp though the martian phased through the attack while Wonder Woman was showing her strength with gritted teeth as she kept the struggle going

"You're both starting to annoy me!" Scorn-O-Penta yelled out before opening his mouth and shot out some fear vapor to get these insects a taste of his master power and the terror that awaits them

J'onn turned intangible again phasing through the street.

However Wonder woman recived the full attack.

"ahhhhhh!!!" she cried as she plummed onto the street. "ahhhh!!!!"

suddenly she found herself in the middle of a familiar greek looking city...in a familiar looking island.

"Themyscira?" she couldnt help but wonder.

"what are you doing here?" an angry voice called her making her turn to see her mom approaching

"mother?"

"mother?" Hippolyta said "i dont have a daughter" she said in disgust "all i know is a traitor that gave its back to her people!!!"

Diana could only stare in shock and pain at the accusation as she tried to defend herself, "Mother that isn't true!" She took a step forward reaching out with her hand, "I would never turn your back on you or my sisters."

Only for Hippolyta to smack the hand away as she growled out, "Don't touch me.." She yelled glaring with venom, "You put all of us at risk the day you brought men to the island."

"It was to stop Faust if I hadn't Hades would have been freed!" Diana yelled desperately toward her mother trying to get her to see reason

Though as she did this in the nightmare illusion she was trapped in Scorn-o-Penta pulled back the wrist that her lasso was wrapped around and sent her flying back with it as her grip weaken from the illusion of fear she was under

"Diana!!!" cried Jonn rushing after her.

"you broke our sacred rules, abandoned your home, steal the sacred armor!!" the queen called as she advanced threatenly towards Diana who in fear began backing off "you are a disgrace to the amazons...you are NOT my daughter!!"

"NO!" Diana cried with tears shaking her head, "MOTHER PLEAS JUST LISTEN!" She plead to her mother while in reality her body was sent flying and crashed through a building landing with a loud echoing boom with J'onn arriving to find her in a crater screaming and shouting

While in her nightmare she was finding herself surrounded by all her amazon sisters holding up weapons and staring at her with murder in their eyes, "Sisters please NO!"

traitor!!!"

"thief!!!"

"disgrace!!"

"you dont deserve been called an amazon!!!"

"just die!!!"

"No..no..NO!" Diana in the real world yelled while grappling her hear and rolling around in the rubble of the crater while J'onn tried to shake her out of it, "Diana..DIANA!"

He stared at his friend desperately, "Listen to me whatever you are seeing isn't real!" Only for Wonder Woman to scream in fear and agony causing J'onn to frown as he had no choice but to attempt to use his powers to try to calm her mind and free her from the illusion the monster trapped her

And so his eyes glowed as he attempted to do just that

finding himself in a dark Themyscira with Diana in fetal position surrounded by angry amazons hurling insults at her

"TRAITOR!"

The crowed roared out as Diana tried to block it out but failed only to raise her voice at hearing a familiar voice, "DIANA!"

She looked up with tears running down her face, "J'onn..." And saw her friend landing in front of her crouching down and placing his hands on her shoulders, "Listen to me Diana none of this is real.."

He stated in a comforting tone trying to pull her back out of this, "It's all a illusion created by the creatures gas.."

"But...i betrayed my people..i let them down" Diana cried "i stole my armor and broke the rules of the island!!! I...I...i deserve to be punish!!" she said as the forms around them cried in agreement

"No you do not!" J'onn replied back with compassion in his stoic voice, "You stole the armor to protect the world from the evil that destroyed my home." He stared hard into her eyes, "And ever since than you've dedicated your life to protecting the innocent and saving as many lives as you could."

He gave her shoulders a comforting squeeze, "You're stronger than Diana...don't let this illusion..this lie break you."

Diana closed her yes and began trying to control her breathing.

around her her sisters and mother still yelled and insult her...calling her all the degradative names, put her honor and identity at doubt...her words pierced her like arrows...yet the more she focused on Jonn the more they began...fading off...like a tv with bad reception.

"Y-you're.." Diana gritted her teeth as she frowned and stood up, "You're right J'onn.." Scowling at the false images around her, "This isn't real..."

she shook her head as her fists tighten, "This is just a lie..." She narrowed her eyes glaring, "And I won't let this break me!"

Slowly the images began fading although not entirely as Themyscira banished to reveal the street of Coast city but the amazons and her mom where still around like ghosts screaming at her

"Don't listen to them Diana.." J'onn urged gently with glowing eyes as he tried to look around for a source of water remembering the young lanterns earlier report, "Block them out.."

"I...im trying Jonn" she grunted trying to stand up "its...its hard..." she admitted

"I'm here..Diana." J'onn stated as he gently took his friend by the shoulder and guided her over to what appeared the entrance to this stories bath room where h started running the sink water

Diana gathered some water in her hand and dose herself with it...slowly the sticky liquid left her and the images began dissipating

"Ah..ah.." She gathered her breath shaking her head sending friend a weak but thankful smile, "Thank you J'onn."

With the martian simply sending a gentle grin in reply, "No thanks necessary my friend.." He stated before frowning, "Though it seems the young lantern wasn't wrong.."

He stated while taking a step back to set Diana stand up straight, "The creatures fear gas is indeed quite potent.." He said before looking over at the sink,"It's fortunately that the cure was discovered so quickly..."

With Diana nodding with a frown, "Yes but it doesn't prevent the gas from affecting us in the first place." She said crossing her arms feeling disgruntled at letting herself fall victim to such trickery so easily, "Nor does it bring us any closer to defeating the beast.."

"no but at least give us an idea of the extend of his powers" John steward said as he and Hal descended close by.

"good news managed to break him out his trance" said Hal with a smile.

"also good news all the affected civilians are cure and away from the fight" said Flash also zooming "bad news we still have a giant monster bringing the city down"

And as if to emphasize the statement a loud explosion went off in the background with Scorn-O-Penta laughing gleefully while he brought down a skyscraper, "Hehe come out where you are mates.."

He called out with a sadistic dark tone, "If you give up now I won't squash you before presenting you all to my master~"

All this caused the heroes gathered to share dark looks and frown, "Any idea who the heck big and ugly is working for?"

Hal asked with a bitter frown before turning his head over to look at Wonder Woman, "Or how long we'll have to hold him off before Superman can get here?"

He asked before sighing, "Because no offense but think we'll need the big guns for this and don't think we cut it..." He said raising his head up to look at the others before John placed his hand on Hal shoulder giving it a squeeze, "Don't be so quick to throw in the towel just yet rookie."

He said with a stern yet comforting tone at his subordinate and student before looking over at his friends, "We've been through tougher scraps than this after all.."

"hey...no offense and im not judging..." said Flash "but didnt you blow him to pieces already?" he asked

Hal grimaced and looked away in shame, "No...I did.." He looked down at his feet as he felt the stares on everyone, "I just..." He gave a growl clenching his fists, "So angry at what that creep did to Jess, John and everyone else I just lost it!"

He ran his hand through his hair still feeling shame and fear at what he did before raising his head up, "But than.." He frowned thoughtfully, "This weird rain showed up and all the bits of the pieces of the guy glowed and melted than.."

He smacked his fist into his palm, "WHAM instant giant!" He shook his head in disbelief before letting out a sigh, "I'm sorry for what I did and i'll take any punishment later...but." He shot the others a frown, "Any idea what the heck did that..or who the heck could pull something like that off?"

another explosion called the attention of the heroes.

"Im afraid any answer will have to wait until we put this beast down" said Diana.

"ok sorry for making you uncomfortable but..." Flash said "what if we hit him with all we have? go full force on him...if it took mini lantern here go ballistic to destroy him the first time, then with that size another attack like that could knock him out"

"Okay.." Hal stated somewhat hesitantly at the idea of going that amount of force again, "But what kinda attack could take the guy now though?" He asked before throwing his arms up in the air, "HE'S HUGE!"

"well cant you guys create something with your rings?" asked the speedster

both Lanterns turned to him with a deadpan expression.

"build something?" said John.

"Flash..buddy...i like you but.." Hal started "what you expect us to do? build like a giant..." he stopped when an idea hit him...and idea that made him smile.

"oh no..i know that smile" said John in worry "Jordan whatever you thinking...no!"

Hal however kept his smirk while giving a chuckle as he looked at the others, "I have a idea..."

Causing John to put his face in his hand while groaning out, "And I've got a bad feeling about this..." He stated bluntly

"Any idea right now is not a bad one" said Diana "you two do what you must...the rest of us will keep the monster distracted"

"Hehe alright awesome..." Hal said gaining a feral smile as well as excited too while John simply gave another groan into his hand before looking up at Hal who was smirking as he brought up his glowing ring up to his face, "It's time to take a page out of Japans book when it comes to dealing with giant monsters ~"

the older lantern groaned.

"im already regretting this" he said preparing his ring

(meanwhile)

Rahhhh!!!! Scorn-o-penta roared releasing a new discharge trying to hit Flash who ran away from the blast.

this worked as distraction as Wonder woman and J'onn attacked both hitting the monster on his face.

"you miserable gremlins!!!2 he roared in anger "i will crush you into a paste!!!"

"Yeah..yeah.." Flafh yelled out rolling his eyes under his mask before shouting out as he ran up Scorn-o-Penta leg, "Like I haven't heard that a hundred times before..."

He said dodging Scorn-o-Penta trying to smack and squash him with his hand and managing to arrive at his left eye and started delivering a flurry of super fast punches right on it

"ahhhhhhh!!!!" this actually made the monster cry in pain

"What's the matter..."Flash asked with a smirk, "Something's in your eye~" He said laughing as he zipped away dodging the monsters hand as it tried to smack him.

Meanwhile as this was happening Wonder Woman had gone from his face down to his legs with Diana wrapping her lasso around his right leg before flying over to his left doing a maneuver any star wats fan would recognize as she attempted to bring the monster down

While J'onn once more transformed into a rhino charged at a leg

"urrrrggg"

they managed to force the monster on his knees but also make him angrier.

"raaah" he unleashed an energy explosion in their direction

BOOM!

"ARG!" Which when it hit blew Wonder Woman back causing her to fly bs k crash onto a car while J'onn manged to phase through the attack with the energy the monster used seemingly unable to affect him in this state

And he wasted no time flying to her location "Diana are you okay.." He asked in concern as she sat up rubbing her head. , "I'm fine J'onn." She asurrdd her friend before asking with a frown, "Are the Lanterns almost ready with Hals plan?"

"I think they are Diana" said Flash with excitement in his tone as he noticed another big figured approaching.

it was a glowing green, giant mecha!!

"I cant believe you convince me to do this" John said in frustrated tone.

"come on John you have to admit this is kinda epic" Hal said in excitement as both Lanterns were located inside the "cockpit/head" of the giant robot.

"oh great now i have a big insect to crush" Scorn-o-penta scowled.

"well lets see if you are able" said Hal as he and John made their robot charge against the monster.

"Gladly mate.." Scorn-o-penta said with a growl as they also rushed forward pulling back their right fist before launching forward with a mighty punch

A action that was repeated and shared by the construct mecha doing the same with it's left fist causing both punches to collide with a loud BOOM!

Sending out a large wave of wind and energy breaking almost window in the city in the process and as shards of glass started to fall down both opponents wasted no time in sending whatever punches and kicks they could at the other in a fierce struggle

The monster managed to claw at the robot´s chest making him stagger back, the proceed to kick it.

Both lanterns move together making the robot advance and use an arm to intercept another punch , the duck from a second; to deliver their own punch at the back of the monster , followed by another at his chest (causing sparks to fly). They tried going for a third but Scorn-o-penta dodged and trying to grab them.

both giants´ struggle was broken when the monster managed to free himself of the grip and push the robot away.

"take a load of this!!" he roared sending a discharge of purple lighting at the robot

"BRACE YOURSELF!" John yelled out to Hal with the construct crossing it's arms in front of it trying to clock and take as much of the attack as it could while Hal and John with rings glowing bright gritted their teeth with Hal grunting out, "Say this for the guy.."

He said with gritted teeth, "He knows how to throw a punch.." He said with a touch of humor in attempt to lift up spirit despite situation, "Yeah..well.." John replied with his own gritted teeth with his and Hals rings giving a flash, "Let's see how he takes one!"

With the construct throwing it's arms back and letting loose a great green blast of light from it's chest while breaking the lightning attack

Boom!!!

"ahhhhh!!!!" the creature cried in pain as the blast hit him directly causing a small explosion making him stagger back.

"hahahaha how you like that?" Hal cried in victory.

"grrrr"

only for the monster´s arm turn into centipedes wrapping around the mech.

"oh no" Hal said knowing what was coming.

And not soon after, arcs of electricity shocked the green construction

"AAAARRRRGGGG!" Was the shared shout of both Lanterns as they felt the deadly electric shock, "Hehe i'd say about as well as you like this!" While Scorn-o-penta mocked them with a gleeful evil laugh

"Now how about we go for a spin mates~" He said with a dark grin before he began to spin in place causing the wrapped up construct to be sent twirling around with the electric shock not stopping once, "Around, around, and around we go!" Scorn-o-penta laughed

"Woahhhh!!!!!"

"keep it together Jordan!!!"

The monster finally released the robot sending it flying and crashing against other buildings.

"Jordan, John are you ok?" called Diana

"Ugh..did anyone get that trucks plates.." Hal said with a dizzy groan while John shook his head clear, "We're good Diana don't worry.."

He said with a frown as the construct stood back up, "Though this guy isn't going to go down easy it seems."

"we need to hit it harder" said Diana "your attacks are actually affecting it but we need to push things further or he will cause more damage of what he has done"

'Yeah..well." Hal stated as the construct mecha entered a battle stance, "we're open to ideas ma'am.." He stated with a dry tone glaring at the laughing monster before the mecha launched itself into the air and swent flying down with a kick aimed right at the monsters chest

the kick hit directly sending the monster flying

"hit him with everything you got!!! dont let him take a breath" said Diana launching herself against the downed creature followed by flash and Jonn

Flash any vulnerable spot he could zipping there and here kicking and punching at super sonic speed as fast he could

While J'onn taking the form of a giant flying serpent creature went for the creatures neck attempting to wrap himself around it to constrict it and cut of Scorn-o-penta breathing

While Diana with ruthless amazon forsight exploited the weakness of all males by attack his crouch area with no mercy~

"you...ouch...you maniacs ugg...GET OFF!!!" the monster roared tyring to smack/smash the annoying bugs away.

"ok Jordan you heard her...lets make this count" called Jonh.

"on it!!!" the young lantern focused and on the right arm of the robot a sword materialized

A sight that was soon noticed by the monster despite the distraction of the "bugs", "Wait..mate.." Though he realized he wasn't in a position to do something as fear took control of his senses and the construct raised the sword up high with it seeming to gleam off sunlight, "LET'S TALK ABOUT THIS MATE!" Scorn-O-Penta yelled out as the sword was brought down

SLASH!!!

"ahhhhh!!!!! im dingo´s food!!!!" the monster cried as sparks and arcs of energy were expelled from it before falling down and exploding again.

ortunately Flash was able to use his speed to retrieve J'onn and Wonder Woman and retreat back before the lanterns launched their attack leaving them to witness the final strike and explosion

And as the explosion echoed and debris rained down the construct mecha faded away with Hal and John landing beside him with Hal wearing a bitter frown, "So.." He said with a bitter tone before sighing, "I guess I killed him after all huh.."

He asked looking up at the other heroes with all them particularly John staring at him in concern

The martian´s eyes glowed.

"no" he said in straight tone "im feeling...something...something human there" he said pointing at the smoke.

"i will check" said Flash zooming into where the monster exploded

Hal looked up in shock if not a bit o hope as the others stared warliy at the smoke before Flash zoomed back to them carrying a figure in their arms wearing a confused frown, "Okay I think I found our monster.."

He said obviously confused a man wearing a guard uniform groaned in his arms with the other heroes staring in surprise at this, "Wait is this really the same thing from earlier?" Hal asked with a note skepticism and disbelief in his tone

and how not, as what Flash was carrying was a normal-looking middle age man....middle age man that had a police uniform on...with the symbols of Blackgates on it.

"Okay someone want to explain how a guard from Blackgate goes from watching prisoners to terrorizing a city as a monster?" John asked with crossed arms and a dark frown while Hal was frowning and still staring at the figure in Flash arms in shock

Wonder Woman gave her own thoughtful hum before turning her head toward J'onn, "J'onn you said you saw glimpses of a lab in his mind earlier.." This of course cause the others to give their own surprised looks at Diana but she carried on, "Do you think you might be able to get more answers now?"

She asked gesturing toward the guard as the martian gave a nod, "I will do my best.." He stated as he stepped forward and placed his hands on the guards forehead and with a glow of his eyes he once again dove into his mind

"uggggg!!!" J'onn grunted as he was forced out much to the worry of his friends "im fine...this guard was attacked...kidnaped to if what i think is correct."

His eyes glowed again.

"cant see much outside what i have seen already...his memories have deep lagoons on them...all i can hear is..roars...reptilian hisses..."

The group stood silent for several moments trading uneasy looks at this information before the youngest of them spoke out, "Well that doesn't sound good." Hal stated bluntly as he crossed his arms, "But what you're saying this guy wasn't responsible for what the other guy did right?"

He asked looking over at the martian who gave a slight groan but nodded his head in assest, "While I would need to examine his mind more closer later I do agree that seems to be the case."

Causing Hal to groan rubbing his face, "Great so it's like that book jackal head.."

John gave his own sigh as he correted Hal, "I think you mean Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde.." Which caused Hal to snort out, "Whatever.."

He said with a huff looking at the older Leaguers, "The point is we've apparently got a destroyed city, thousands of traumatized people thanks to the gas and giant monster, and apparently.."

He shook his head, "No answers except some lab is turning people into monsters.." He said with a slight growl at the end before sighing, "So what are we going to do?" He asked looking up at the senior heroes because truth was he wanted to track down the jerks behind all this and let them have it for what they did to Jess and everybody else

"well for one we will need to inform Batman" said Diana "Blackgate is in his city so he might have more info we could use for this"

"Its a start" said John "we also could use some help around here to help fix things and see if there is any witnesses of what happened"

Hal scowled.

"I think everyone that was in Luthor´s rally..." his eyes widen "wait thats it!!! Luthor!!!" the young Lantern cried "i should have suspected...i bet this was all his fault"

The others traded unsure looks as Hal carried, "Oh that little bald creep." He said with a slight snarl punching his fist into a open palm, "Jess was going on earlier about how she was worried about what Luthor becoming president could mean for meta humans.."

He told the others as he started to pace back and forth, "I bet he set this whole thing up just to make metas look bad while helping his political agenda the little weasel!"

He said with a slight growl before stopping as John placed his hand on his shoulder, "Easy kid.." John gave the younger lantern a stern look, "Luthor's a suspect I agree.." But than shook his head, "But he's not the source of all evil.."

He admitted with a sigh, "We can't risk jumping to the easiest conclusions.." He told Hal with Flash butting in, "No matter how much we hate the jerk." Flash said with crossed arms and scowl, "This could easily have been someone else wanting us to think it was Luthor."

"the setting is quite coincidental" said Diana "what are the chances of Luthor having a rally that speaks against metas and just out of coincidence a meta attack the city?"

"very few" said John "did Jessica say anything else?"

"no and we couldnt talk more with that freak...oh shoot!!!" Hal exclaimed "i need to go check how she is!!!" he said suddenly flying up and in opposite direction of the battlefield

And as Hal did so John frowned before turning to the others, "I'll follow him my rookie might need some medical aid." He admitted as he hovered up, "In the meanwhile you guys start looking around the city for anybody in need aid...and."

His eyes went to the figure in Flash arms, "make sure our sleepy beauty there get's to the watch tower.." He looked down at the figure, "Because Luthor or not something tells me this is the sign of something bigger going on."

He told them before taking off after Hal.

(Mesogog Lab)

Back in the lair of the saurian. he and his "guests" admired the battle in the city, from giving the lanterns a kick down, to the arrival of the other league members, their own struggle against the giant monster and finally the defeat of said monster.

"I will admit" said Mesogog "i didnt expect them to be able to beat my monster without the help of Superman" he growled "well i suppose i will take that into consideration for the next test"

"Um..next test boss." Lloyd spoke up with a tentative tone, "Um exactly how many of these things can you make?" He asked wary yet curious though part of him dread the answer as he added on, "And um..'

He took a nervous gulp, "Do they all need human test subjects?"

"relax" said the saurian "i said before i use that guard as template because this was a special occasion" the dino relaxed on his chair "in reality i only need samples of DNA to mix to create my creatures" he smiled pointing at the shelves "samples that you my dear Llyod have been kind to deliver to me" he added with satisfaction "the more you bring...the more powerful creatures i can create"

"Well that explains all the weird stuff you've been having me stealing I guess." Lloyd said with a frown rubbing his chin before Black Manta spoke up with a curious yet cautious tone, "So the amount of creatures need only depend on your dna supply than.."

The villain said with crossed arms before tilting his helmet, "That being said.." The eyes seem to gleam, "Exactly what are the limits to how powerful you can make these monsters?" He said attempting to fish for some information

"all depends on the components i use" said mesogog "my machine takes any quality and boost it up alongside mixing them to give my creature form...adding an extra boost of power" the saurian said "Centipedes are know for their agressivity, their poison mixed with the hallucinogenic properties of the perubian cactus add the resistence of the petrificade tree...and you get a nice mix of powers"

"Interesting...very interesting.." Black Manta stated in a low tone before remaining silent for several moments than gave a nod, "Alright.."

He stared hard at Mesogog, "I think it's safe to say Ocean Master as well as myself will be interested in this deal you're offering.."

He said before adding in a deadly tone, "However..." He stared hard at the lizard, "Just what is your end game in all this?" He asked stepping forward, "What are you after?"

He asked/demanded, "Because I warn you now if you plan to use me as a simple pawn than it no amount of monsters you create will save you from my wrath." He promised with a clenched fist as the eyes of his helmet glowed

"my end game?" said the saurian "ummm..lets just say your client and i share a ...common goal..although the ways we plan to reach it...differ" he explained "and you dont have to worry...for now...you are a messenger nothing more..nothing less" he then pointed at Lloyd "i already have a pawn that does my dirty work...and even he has a deal with me" Mesogog then stood up "so dont worry...all i need...is a meeting with Ocean master...after that...who knows..maybe you also will become a client" he pulled out a small black rectangle with a red button in the center "take this"

"Alright i'll play your game for now.." Black Manta said reaching out and taking the offered device, "Though be warned if you plan to betray us it'll be the last mistake you'll ever make.." He warned Mesogog before offering his other arm in a hand shake to seal the deal, "Otherwise I hope to see this...alliance to prove beneficial to all of us."

"Indeed" Mesogog said grasping the hand "I will open a gate for you to use...If Ocean Master agrees to meet with me, you only press that button to inform me"

"Very well.." Black Manta said moving back, "Than see to it he and I have...much to discuss" He said before giving Lloyd a dark look, "As for you consider our account settled...for now."

He said in a dangerous tone causing the man to give a gulp and chuckle nervously, "Hehe...got it."

"ummm" with that Mesogog walked to his console and activate a gate for Black Manto to leave.

"uff..glad thats over" said Llyod happy to have the sea criminal away.

"Over?" said Mesogog "Im afraid this isnt done just yet" he said turning angry at Llyod "I still havent forget the fact you brought an unwanted guess into my lair"

Lloyd found himself paling while taking several feet back and holding up his hand placating, "Hey come on be reasonable boss.." He said as Tyrannodrones came up behind him causing him to whirl around as he stuttered out explanation, "He's a freaking super villain i'm just a conman thief with a invisibility suit!"

He cried out desperately, 'I can steal what you need but you can't expect me to be able to handle guys like that can you?!"

"ummm" Mesogog narrowed his eyes but with a hand movement the drones moved away "on that you are right" he said walking back to his console "I hired you to steal for me...however i underestimated how quickly i will need extra muscles in case things like this happen" he activate his screen "fortunately...i now where to find some extra muscle...and not only one that i know can become fully loyal to me...but also will help to test how my machine reacts to Meta humans." and he brought out a mug-shot of a girl with black hair and asiatic features.
