Smith and Wesen: A Modern Blacksmith's Magical Reincarnation

"You're just a Nenner! A glorified blacksmith! You can't possibly stand up against a Zahler's elemental power!" "As if that'll stop me! A Zahler might have the elements under their control, but that won't matter if I have a Seigel-riddled weapon for every occasion!" ⬛⬛⬛ Wesen... the innate power within that allows a person to manipulate the world around them. While it sounded straightforward enough, Rouge still has a lot to learn if he wanted to harness it for his own benefit. Thankfully, being a standard guy with blacksmithing as a hobby had given him a headstart in the new pseudo-medieval world that he now found himself in. In fact, blacksmithing in general is an integral part of his new life and the Wesen-filled wonders that entailed it. It was a good thing too, especially since it would be the one ticket he had to get out of the servitude of the Empire that insisted on grinding him under its heel. With his newfound power of rune-like Seigels at his disposal, Rouge will take the Matheman Empire by storm as he builds his rebellion into a force to be reckoned with. He will ensure that his fellow Nenners will be free from the Empire's oppressive practises, and he sure as hell will do it if it was the last thing he did. Well, that, and he refused to live in a backwater medieval world for longer than he could manage it. His modern sensibilities demanded proper technology, and he was sure that even his half-complete understanding of modern science will give him the edge he needs to take on a literal continent-spanning Empire. ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ UPDATES: Daily 19:00 JST Twitter: @ChellyArks

Rouge's Lessons: Seigels

"What're you doing, Brother?"

I looked up from where I was seated as Lise called for my attention. Greeted by her ever-curious eyes, the fact that she had seemingly never lost her innocence despite being stuck here in the Furnace with me was both sad and amazing.

"I'm just trying to recall a few of the Seigels Father taught me," I smiled at her as I raised my hand to ruffle her hair. "I have a lot to teach you, and Seigels are pretty much our tools as Nenners to work our magic."

"Magic?"

I chuckled at her curiosity. "Well, it's technically called Wesen, but it's pretty much the same," I explained, preparing to give her a few lessons. "Here, let me show you a few Seigels that you have to know if you want to even begin understanding how our skills work."

Using the soot covering the metallic floor below us, I began sketching the rudimentary Seigels that Father taught me. From Right Angles to Wavelengths of various shapes and sizes, each line and curve correlated to a different property that the Seigel could imbue onto the material it was etched on.

"Ooh... Those look pretty," Lise cooed with a childlike wonder.

"They can look even prettier if you know what you're doing," I smirked at her as I began pointing at the first of many Seigels on the ground. "Like this one. It's an arrow used to denote the wind element."

"And what about this line?"

"It's the standard for basic hardening," I quickly answered. "Of course, overlapping them would also mean that its properties will be compounded on top of each other."

"I see," Lise nodded in understanding. "So if I mix and match them, I get to experiment with them?"

I raised an eyebrow at her words. She hadn't even heard of Seigels and she was already on the part where she wanted to experiment? "I think that's still a bit beyond you."

My little sister pouted even as I gave her a soft smile. She was far too bright for her own good sometimes, but that just meant that she was going to be a terror once she grew up some more.

"It won't be for long, Brother."

"I'm sure of that, Lise," I chuckled. "Of that, I'm sure."
