I was startled by a knock on the window. I placed my hand over my heart to calm myself and saw that it was my mom. I smiled and rolled the window down. /"What are you doing just sitting in your car?/" She bent down and asked me. I shrugged. /"Well get out and help me with the groceries./" She didn’t wait for me to answer just turned back to her car and grabbed a couple of bags from the trunk. I got out and grabbed the last of them shutting the trunk and following her into the house.

I placed the bags on the counter and started putting what I could away. Mom still kept everything in the same places, but I had only ever really known where a few things were. If I ate it on my way out of the house, I knew where it was. Bread and Pop tart’s where the basics really. /"So, are you going to tell me what's wrong?/" Mom asked after a little bit of silence. I put the box of cereal in the cupboard before turning to her.
